KK's January 2009 Check In

Hi just a quick post to say I'm back. Just got back about 1 1/2 hours ago. Been busy unpacking and burning my dinner. Oh well, I was hungry enough to eat it partially burnt. Next I'm hitting all the dessert....fruit...lots of fruit. I must be missing something in my diet because the fruit tastes soooo good.

Yes, I'm still job hunting, but the hunt is realllllllll slow. I figure now with the economy in the dumps that I'm looking at a year or so before I can go someplace else. So I just have to cool my jets for a while and work on the job skills. It was so beautiful in the Bay area this weekend. High 60s to mid 70s! I did not want to come home.

It was total body sculpting for me today -- really have to have the shorter workouts right now. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be -- less reps -- but I went a little heavy on some of the exercises also -- well, almost all of them... But the time was perfect.

Tomorrow am planning some sort of cardio for about 1/2 hour, also -- wish I could do more, but can't right now. Am getting excited, however. I figure I'm about 3-4 weeks from coming home.:p

Rhea, so glad you're back. Isn't the weather in SF great? It pretty much stays like that year round, I think, also, doesn't it? Yeah, I can understand your slow search right now. Were you able to work out while you were gone?

Jeanette, what a near perfect weekend, huh? Ah... Yeah, like I said, I'm getting really excited now. :eek: I don't really understand the concept behind the new workouts, I must admit. And I probably missed a good deal on getting them early on. Oh, well...

Janie, you just gotta keep with it -- it'll build back up. What's that old cliche -- Rome wasn't built in a day. It will come. I kinda like that Body Sculpting workout -- I don't have a ball here, though so I had to alter alot of the workout. But it was still good. It's one I'll repeat right now, cause it's the perfect length for me right now.

Jeanette, I did 1RM today as well for my exercises. I only have a few more or so pages left. Tomorrow I will do a cardio. Enjoy the sewing project with your mother. What a sweet memory you will have. Beautiful weather here too. Cold and crisp with no clouds in site. It was a hot tub day so I took advantage of that.

KK, Total Body Sculpting is not that easy when you use as heavy weight as you can, even on your legs. At least you are doing something, proud of ya. Thank you for the vote of confidence.

Rhea, So glad you are back. Fruit is wonderful isn't it? Good luck on the job hunting (cheering you on).

I also did Aerobic Yoga, with Ganga White and Tracey Rich. I love that yoga DVD, but did have to modify.

Will do Rhythmic Steps tomorrow. Have a great evening everyone.

Good morning,
Today was Imax3, premix 1-5 intervals, then did the abs and part of core from Christi Taylor's Fit To Dance. Tonite will be a bike spin at the Garage Boys. Will probably do one of my Cardio Coach workouts.

Janie, we had a very nice time at Mom's last evening, cutting, ironing, and started sewing. We had 2 sewing machines going. I'm so excited to be sewing again. Hope we get to work on it again before next Tuesday night. Our weather is not going to be as good coming up, so I won't mind being indoors. Enjoy Rhythmic Step today. That one is fun. Good for you for doing some yoga. I'll do some more 1rm's tomorrow.

Karen, yep, lifting heavier weights will help an "easy" workout seem harder. There are links on the STS part of the forum that tell all about STS. STS stands for "shock training system", due to our bodies plateauing and the need to "shock" our bodies to start responding again.

Janie, I can sure relate to not wanting to leave those warmer temps. Anderson was in the 70's this weekend. Enjoyed golfing down there.

Today, ran home at lunch and did Burn it and Recharge ( a stretch/yoga, yummy)
Jeanette...Sounds like the sewing is fun. I'm hoping to be able to get to do some more this weekend. I'd like to get back to my quilting, but there is another wool skirt calling my name!

Hope you had fun with RS today Janie. I haven't done that one for a while.

Karen - will miss you, but understand that you need to get that class done and get back home.

Well, I had better run myself. Chores to do and then I can relax a bit.
 
Good morning,
Today I worked on some more of my 1rm's. I'm done with all of the 5 star ones and have done a lot of the 4 stars. I feel good about that so that STS will be as effective as possible. Last night I had a bike spin session and did Cardio Coach #5.

Rhea, I can see where sewing could be fun again. Hoping Mom wants to work on her table runner this weekend. I dropped by the house yesterday and she had some quilt books out on the table. She seems excited again!

Jeanette, I have about 4 more pages to go on finishing the test on 1RM. I
decided to do it for 3 months. If we travel anywhere, then I'll get right back on it when we get home. Planing on a Vegas trip in April sometime to visit our doctor son. He has a new house and wants us to help him with it.

Rhea, Again you are doing great on your workouts. I have some errands to do today, and will do my cardio RS when I get home.

Today was the beginning of week #4 for me on the 90 day CLX. I heavied up on some of the exercises. Yippee. I actually could go even heavier, but I've got to figure out how to handle it with my poor elbows on a couple. The heavy weights seem to wreak havoc with them when you hold them on your shoulders.

Today was a rest day for me, mostly cause of not enough sleep. But I am getting closer and closer to the end -- and I'm getting so excited. Will go at it tomorrow and see how much of a workout I can get in. Whew!

Jeanette, your workouts look so good -- am always amazed at how you can put these workouts together and come up with a full workout. Sewing...wish i were good at it -- not only is it creative, but you have something at the end of it.

Rhea, wow, you're inspiring -- I think I have a good idea of how busy you are so...

Janie, yeah, I really did see that the sculpting was a little difficult with heavier weight -- and it's the right length for me right now.

Just done Total Body Sculpting with my DH. I used 5's and 8 pounders to do some of the exercises. Later tonight, I'm thinking of doing yoga too before dinner.

KK, Hope you had a good rest day, you deserve it. Perhaps you can catch up on that today.:rolleyes:

Rhea, Already on the 4th week. Time goes by so quickly! I bet you look good with all the wonderful exercises you are doing lately. If you are going heavier, then you must look fantastic. I'm so proud of the way you are keeping at it.

Good evening!

Well, it is turning out to be a rest day. Just too much work at work and now I'm pretty pooped. I can totally tell when I've gotten tired, my brain just does not function right and I make silly errors...well, and I also start talking backwards. I'm not so tired that I'm talking backwards yet (I'll either switch the first letters of the words I'm trying to say or I put the whole word in a different spot in my sentence...its pretty funny. Especially when other people actually understand what I'm saying!) But I'm pretty close.

So no workout. I'll be back on it tomorrow and I'm going to try and heavy up a bit for the last week. I haven't had a lot of DOMS, so I know I can do more. I might even add some cardio tomorrow if I feel ambitious.

Well, off to cook dinner. Have a great rest of the evening.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Today was Burn #2. I heavied up on my weights. I actually used 15lbs for bicep curls and made it through all 12 reps! My arms were like noodles when I was done, but that is the point!

Good Sunday evening!

Took most of today off from work (trial work that is) and got some chores done. Darn bills, always get in the way. Then I actually went to a movie by myself!! Saw Bride Wars. It was cute. I like Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. Kate reminds me so much of her mom.

After the movie, I came home and did Burn Intervals and Ab Burner. I used five lbs for the endurance work and my arms are a bit noodlely again. I probably will sleep well tonight.

Well, I think I'm going to get some of my next skirt done. I got it all cut out last night and I need to mark the "dots", "darts" and crude. Then sew.

One of my posts didn't take. Cause, Rhea, I had answered one of your posts. Oh, well. Today was a rest day for me -- mostly due to schedule, as I had planned to exercise.

Okay, so something really weird happened to me last night. As I was driving home, I noticed that I was being followed. I made several turns and the person followed me right through the turns. Was freaky, and quite evident that I was being followed. So as soon as I could, I pulled into a well-lit hamburger joint, and sure enough the car pulled in behind me -- I got a good look at the driver and when she pulled out to go elsewhere, I pulled in behind her and got her license.

Anyway, tonight I saw her car -- it was parked 1 car away from mine in a parking lot and so me and a security person went and found her to ask her about it and I found out that sure enough she'd been following me because she thought I was someone else, who she was waiting for who was going to guide her to a party -- and I also found out that she was a really nice person. So it's a good end to an odd story.

Rhea, you are so inspiring -- no matter what I'm going to get into the exercise a little better.

So my schedule next week on exercise is much the same -- workouts that are short and probably 1/2 of the workout 1 day and then the next half the next day. Hope everyone is doing well.

Will be doing Total Body Sculpting again today, but this time with heavier weight and when we do lounges, will use weight instead of the ball. That should make it interesting. Joey really likes this workout, so we shall do it.

KK, Enjoy your rest day.:) I would have been so scared if someone was following me too. You did the right things, so very wise of you get a security person to help you. Glad the story ended well.

Rhea, You are doing so well on your workouts. Bride Wars, will have to be put on my Netflix soon. How is your skirt doing by the way. I'm impressed. I use a 12 pound weight to do curls. You are really improving!

Today was the last part of Bootcamp. Whew! And that's all I had time for. Am hoping to get in an Anaerobic workout tomorrow morning. We'll see how much time I manage to grab.

Janie, I love this graphic -- and I'm still loving your soap. What a great gift. Total body sculpting is going to be a part of my lineup if only because of the time -- it's one I can do when I'm here so pressed on time.

I'm impressed with you both on your weights. I'm afraid I don't go that heavy -- but then I'm older than both of you, so I justify it that way.:)

No time to post this morning, but I did Lowmax and took my rest day yesterday. Saturday was a Christi Taylor workout (30 minutes) in the morning, then did BodyMax2 in the evening as DH was out of town and I had all the time in the world. Also went to Mom's and sewed on Saturday, which was fun. We got lots done. Tomorrow I plan on doing some more 1rm's. I'm pretty excited that STS is shipping to me soon!

Karen, good job on finishing Bootcamp. Even doing half of it is an accomplishment. Glad everything was okay with the lady that followed you. Bet that was scary for a while.

Janie, bet you are excited about STS being shipped soon. I'm really looking forward to it. Love your graphics. That's what we need to say when doing STS, "We can do it!"

Rhea, how's the skirt coming? I did some sewing at Mom's on Saturday and we'll be going over there tomorrow night to work on the quilt table runner again. It's really fun working together. Soon, I'll be picking a project of my own. I have a couple of bum elbows myself. I just have to do easy in certain positions.

Today was Burn #3. Again I went heavier on ones I thought I could. Only one exercise seemed a little too hard as I could barely make 10 reps (after already doing some of the same type of exercises) So I might have to lower the weight the next time. However, I think I won't be doing the Burn dvds for a while since I'll be on to the Push Phase, then the lean phase and then STS. So I'll just have to play it by ear. I really like the Burn phase, so I know I'll be coming back to them in the future.

Skirt got cut out and the first dart pinned. After that, I ran out of steam. Work will be interfering for a while until the next trial is over. I've been really procrastinating tonight, but it is like my last night that I can not "have" to work so I'm taking advantage of it? I've got and entire day Thurs and Fri to work so I have plenty of time left.

Well, I had better run, I am planning on getting a little reading done tonight. Have a great rest of the evening.

This morning, I crawled out of bed and did Burn it. Not much energy in the morning for cardio, but I had a massage this afternoon, so I needed to get it done.

I can't believe that my STS will be here next week. How fun. They will have to wait until I'm done with this 90 day rotation, but it gives me something to strive for. Oh, another thing to strive for, my 30th class reunion in August. Oh boy. Never been back, so this will be interesting.

Well, I'm off to the Bay Area tomorrow, so unless I can get on the forums with the blackberry with no problems, I probably won't post until Sunday when I get home.

Please forgive me for being brief tonight -- it was 4DS Bootcamp cardio only today -- I really like that workout. Have to hurry and get to bed so I can get enough sleep.
