KK's January 2009 Check In

Good evening!

Didn't get to post early since the office internet was down (well, actually, I probably wouldn't have had much time today anyway, regular Tues. running around.)

Worked out when I got home. Did the last day of week one of the CLX. It was a workout called Burn it and then one called Recharge. About 20-30 minutes apiece....intense cardio drills and then a great stretch. The Tony Horton stuff definitely helped with my legs. Some of the plyometrics and the football drills were not that tough on my muscles, but did a great job on my aerobics. And I'm a lot more flexible than I used to be. So first week down! whoo hoo. Tomorrow is supposed to be a rest day, but I might throw in a short cardio just to keep it going a bit. My energy level is pretty high. Or I might do the one-on-one trainer yoga that just came in for the month of December. I haven't had a chance to do it yet. Hmm, too many choices.

Well, I had better get going. It is getting close to bedtime, so time to start the evening routine with the dishes, animals, coffee, etc.

Good morning,
Today was Imax2, which I did, all except for the 3rd interval blast (1 legged genie hops). I don't like that one so lots off times I skip it. Tonite is a bike spin session. Think I will do one of the Cardio Coach workouts for that. I'm feeling like my endurance is getting better now that I'm making myself do longer cardio.

Rhea, enjoy your rest day today. Hearing lots of good stuff about CLX. You sound full of energy!

Karen, glad the stomach cramps have eased up. No fun for sure. That Christi Taylor Fit To Dance cardio is fun for me. The ab work is super too.

Janie, smart of you to come back easy. You don't want to risk an injury. Someday maybe I'll get a treadmill. Do you do the Cardio Coach workouts? They are great! Can't say enough good about them.

Hope everyone has an energy filled day today!

Have been debating whether or not I should tell you this, but decided just to put it out there. Something just doesn't feel right with my other breast. I'll know more Friday, but if there are anymore complications, I think I'll be more quite about it. Joey and I are testing our 1RM today, and making that our exercises for today. We'll maybe do the 5 stars first or one page at a time. Don't know yet.

Jeanette, The one legged genie is very demanding. Enjoy your bike spinning tonight.

Rhea, you are going to be miss Olympic! Keep up the good work.;) Enjoy your rest day.

KK, So glad you couldn't see my picture close up. It would have been full of wrinkles. It might have scared you. Enjoy Supersets or Push/Pull, extreme workouts.

Talk with you soon,

Janie

Good evening!

No rest day for me. It was supposed to be, but I had plenty of energy, so I did one called Fat Burn Challenge. Another drill type cardio which whipped my butt. Literally. My gluts may be a bit sore tomorrow.

Janie - fingers are crossed for you.

Jeanette - great work with that longer cardio. Isn't this just like spring here? It had better get a bit cooler or all the trees are going to bloom out!

Karen - hows that last class?

Well, I had better get something to eat. Talk to you later.

Good Evening!

Today was 1/2 of HSTA -- it's all I had time for -- I was going to come back and do the other half, but couldn't get the time to get it done -- so I'm going to do the other 1/2 tomorrow! That's a challenging workout. After thinking it over, because I'm on such a time schedule, it seemed best that I do a circuit workout so I'd get the cardio, too.

Rhea, go! I so agree that when you have the energy is not the time to back away from doing a workout. Since I don't have all my workouts here (and I don't have as many as you do), am trying to also get in the 30 minute workouts, but mostly I'm splitting the workouts in half.

Janie, my fingers are crossed for you, too. While I understand your inclination to be quiet, whining is allowed. Even more so, upsets and considerations about problems are definitely allowed. Hang in there.

Jeanette, what strange weather you must be having. It's like spring there now? Didn't you just have record snow or almost record snow? IMAX2 is one of my favorites -- my hand is always reaching for it.

Must get to bed. Have a super day, everyone.:D

Good morning,
Today was Leaner Legs and the ab work from Leaner Legs. This one is a toughie, maybe because of so many sets of squats, leg presses, lots of barbell work. Last night was Cardio Coach #6 (Candace version), on my bike, which I enjoyed. First time I'd done her workout, though recently I did CC#6 with Sean and enjoyed that one too. Tonite after work is a haircut and color. Really due for it too.

Karen, even if you did just 1/2 of HSTA, you still did something so it's all good. I don't have that one, but I hear it's tough. Yes, the weather is strange. Going to be in the 50's by the weekend. Looking forward to a nice game of golf with a couple girlfriends on Sunday.

Rhea, I hear you on the trees blooming. I saw a couple of bike riders outside when I got off work and I was tempted to do that instead of an indoor spin session. I much prefer to be outside if it's nice. Are your glutes sore today?

Janie, prayers and good thoughts going out to you. Please always feel free to whine, vent, whatever. We're here for YOU!!! ((((HUGS)))). Good job doing your 1rm's. You are much better than lazy old me.

Good evening!

Finally was able to get on the site here. For some reason it was really slow when I was trying to get on at work, so I had to give up.

Not too sore today. My calves are actually the most sore, but that would be from the Burn Circuit#3, not yesterday. So maybe the gluts will be sore tomorrow. Started week number 2 today with Burn Circuit #1 and went heavier on some of the weights. I probably will still have to go even heavier next time since I could make it through all 12 reps slowly without the fatigue yet. Almost there, but not quite.

Janie - hope everything is still good with you. We're here for ya! (and there is never such thing as too much whining)

Karen - did you get that other 1/2 in today?

Jeanette - golfing? This weekend? Wow. That is just so strange to think about in the middle of supposed winter! LOL. We'll probably have this nice lull and then get slammed and won't have a spring until July.

Well, I actually have some work to do here at home. So I had better get going so I can be productive.

Have a great rest of the evening everyone!

Good Evening!

Today, I did get in the last 1/2 of HSTA -- from chapter 3 on forward (including the warm up). That is a tough workout. But I kinda need it right now as my workouts aren't always a sure thing due to time considerations.

Tomorrow, I do plan either IMAX2 or the drills only from Bookcamp from 4DS. Depends on my time.

Jeanette, that is strange that you'd be wanting to bike outside at this time of year. Speaking of winter until July -- that's what it seemed like when I lived in Vermont -- we had one month of summer -- July...

Rhea, go, go, go! You're inspiring me, also -- cause I, too, have so little time right now. Short, intense workouts are what I'm looking for right now.

Janie, hope all is well with you today -- tomorrow is Friday and I know you have an appointment -- do let us know. Oh, I wanted to tell you, I've been using your soap now -- it's wonderful -- pure soap with no additives -- you can tell the difference.

Have a super day tomorrow, everyone!:D

Good Evening,

Jeanette, I have one Cardio Coach. These things are so addicting aren't they? Leaner Legs IMO is one of the toughest DVD's I know. Great Job! How did the hair color and cut turn out?

Rhea, I hope your doms, that you are experiencing, will remind you of how great your exercising is doing for you. Love to here about your progresses. Keep it coming!

KK, You seem to be improving with your workouts too. I'm so proud of you and everyone here. So glad you like the soap.

Today was treadmill, just wanted not to think. It was 20 min. again same speed and same incline as the last time. Boring, but I did it.

Thank you all for supporting me on my health. I'll talk tomorrow about what is happening, if anything is really happening. My little dog jumped on my breast and may have gotten it inflammed, cause I'm much better today. But I still have a hardness in my right breast that never went away yet. Perhaps it still might.

Janie

Morning,
Today was GS Chest & Triceps, the 31 minute Superset timesaver premix. Even though short, my muscles were exhausted. Today will also be a walk at work around our track.

Janie, hope you hear good news from your doctor today. Sending good vibes out to you! The haircut and color turned out great. Hope I can style it well this morning.

Karen, glad you got that workout in today. Yep, crazy weather. Sunday looks to be 58 degrees in Reno for golf. I'm ready!!!

Rhea, you sound like you are really giving CLX a lot of thought and effort. You'll probably see fabulous results. Love hearing about it. In the 50's in January. Crazy.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Will check back on Tuesday morning.

Good Evening!

Am checking in a little earlier tonight because I'm in a lull between the courses. It's a good thing because when I start this course it'll be full time 9:30 AM - 10 PM each day until done -- and I'm ready for it. Luckily, it'll be for only a short time. And I have some work in from my publisher -- so I best get it done while I have a moment.:)

My weight is up -- goodness, how I fight this weight going up -- up, down, up, down. Goodness! So it was IMAX2 today -- tried to make it shorter by doing only the blasts after interval 6. And I did LowImpact step at 5:30 today...for the weight.

Janie, my fingers are crossed for you, too. Am so glad that you're working out again, also. Let us know.

Jeanette, I love Supersets -- no matter how you slice and dice it -- it's one great workout that really challenges you. How was the walk at work?

Rhea, hope you're doing great and that work is being good to you. :)

Have a super weekend, everyone.:D

Good evening!

Just a quick post to say hi. Today was a rest day for me, workout wise that is...lol. I was going to squeeze in a yoga or a type of stretch, but I ran out of time.

Lots of errands and trying to get things done so I can concentrate on trial prep over the weekend. Had to do things like, fix the dog pen fence where the dog decided to eat the wood and get out of the pen. Errr. Full moon.

Tomorrow, I pick right back up. I'm going to try and get up in the morning at my usual time and just work here at home for a while. I'll see if that works. Well, I had better get going.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good Mid Morning,

Today is weight training day. Will be doing Cathe's Total Body Sculpting twice! Yeah!:D

I've started the day out with 1 cup of Shredded Wheat and 1/2 cup of soy milk. (I'm thinking of you KK)

My result form the PS was great. What I am feeling in my breast is scar tissue. He wants me to see how it goes in 5 months. If it is still bothering me, then he will do another operation. But, I think I can live with it, we'll see. I'm all healed, I don't have to see him for 5 months! At that time if I feel good about things I won't go in again.

Rhea, Enjoy your rest day. Aren't they nice. Don't work too hard at home and hope you get all your errands done.

KK, You are going to be so busy, don't know if we'll see you very much for a while. Do what you have to do, and come see us when you can. You are doing great on your workouts. We'll be here for ya.

Jeanette, The Gym Style and Supersets series are very hard, I'm impressed as always. See ya Tuesday morning.

I did enjoy my rest day yesterday Janie! Today will be Burn Circuit #2. I'm making myself a little chart before I start. I need to remember what weights to use for each exercise. That way, if I lift too light, next time I'll remember what was too light.

Also, I'm currently waiting bit until I digest a bit of my lunch. I worked too long at work and was at the jail too long today and I had to stuff something good into me before I even attempt to pick up those weights:rolleyes: I still feel like I'm a starvin marvin right now. So it's got to make it to my brain!!

Then I'll be a work out fool. I can't wait. I just love these workouts and how great I feel at the end.

Well, better get to the excel spreadsheet so I can make a little chart.!

Have a great rest of the day!

Good Sunday afternoon.

Just finished doing the workout called Burn Intervals. I was quickly reminded how intense that workout is...wow.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm off to finish regular chores and then get some sewing in. Yippeee.
:p

Good evening everyone,

Rhea, I hear your positive notes on your workouts. You are doing fantastic work on yourself. It makes me enjoy my workouts right along with you. Such an inspiration you are. We can both be workout fools. LOL!:D

Hi there Jeanette, and KK, talk with you soon.

Today was cardio. I used the treadmill at 3.5 incline, 3.5 mph. I made it intervals, so I jogged and then I ran for certain periods of time for 20 min. It was really tough! I'm also feeling the effects of my weight training from yesterday. OUCH! But that's good.

See yas,

Janie

Good Evening!

Today was my day off, however, my weight is up and so I put in a 30 minute workout with Cathe -- 4 DS HIS. I have the galleys back from my editor and so I've been working on them straight all day today -- once I start this course, I won't have time -- so tI have to do them now. Am trying to get them done today or perhaps by tomorrow.

It's been kinda fun to be here all day with Georgie staying by me almost all day.

Janie, am so glad that it is only scar tissue in your other breast -- and the fact that your injury is now almost healed is wonderful news -- am so glad that you're getting back into your workouts. By the way, I have Cathe's Total Body Sculpting but have never done it -- do you like it?

Rhea, I, too, love hearing about how you're winning with your workouts. What series is this that you're doing? I know you've said that they are short -- which I really need right now -- I figure I'll be doing half workouts for the next few weeks. How's the sewing going?

Jeanette, hope your weekend is doing great!

Okay, so I usually look at this next week coming up and try to figure out an appropriate workout schedule. Not sure what this week will bring, so this scehdule may change here and there.

This week I'm going to try to do the CTX series -- some of those workouts are a little long -- I so need teh shorter workouts this week -- so they might scatter out a bit -- we'll see.

Have a super day tomorrow!:D

Good morning!

Karen - the series that I am working on is the new ChaLEAN Extreme workouts. She came out with something a bit similar to the STS series. Emphasis on building muscle and some intense interval training. So shorter workouts, heavier weights. It is really fun. I'm enjoying the shorter workouts. They are just right. Especially since you work hard in them, you don't need to go any longer. Actually the Burn Intervals is one of the longer workouts and it is almost too long at 45 minutes. I'm always pooped at the end of that one. Muscle endurance weights (lighter, much lighter, but more reps) and then high intensity cardio....pushing to the anaerobic (sp?) It was a pricey workout (I got the deluxe system, of course.) but well worth it. I'm on the tail end of the second week of the Burn phase. (oh, also, you can adapt it and use the different tubing for resistence instead of the weights....great for on the road)

Janie - I actually got up this morning and worked out!! Whoo hoo...Of course, I may have been sleeping through the first five minutes. LOL Looks like you are keeping it up too.... Great work.... We can do this:D

Jeanette - did you really rest today or was there a golf game or a garage spin in your day?

Well, I guess I had better get to work. Lots to do

oh.....sewing... I managed to get the waistband done on my skirt. Not too hard once I read the directions about twenty times and then finally....duh, that's what they mean. Doesn't help when you are watching "Lost" on the dvd and getting distracted.

Good Evening!

Hi! Today was CTX series Power Circuits -- I think that's the longest one -- something like 55 minutes or something. I was struggling on the weight work, of all things -- funny how if you don't keep up with it routinely, you kinda lose that stamina you built up.

Rhea, is that Charlene of the -- gee, what was it called again? The kickbox workouts -- I don't have her workouts anymore as I gave them to my daughter, but I remember how much I liked the workouts and liked her. Are the STS workouts also supposed to be short? One reason I didn't buy the STS workouts was that if they were too long, I just wouldn't do them, cause I need to have cardio also -- and I only have so much time in one day to exercise. Yeah, I need those things that one can do easily on the road. Was it real, real expensive?

Jeanette, how was your weekend? Was the weather good enough for golf or biking?

Janie, how did you do today? Again, am glad that you got a clean bill of health on the other breast. :)

Am glad that you got the sewing done, Rhea. I'm afraid my patience is not very good when it comes to sewing, which is too bad, because it's such a creative thing, plus you have something to wear afterwards.

Have a super day, everyone!:D

Good Evening,

KK, I think what is happening is that when you use two different exercises in your routines that sometimes it may be because you are really using a particular muscle to the limit. Could it be DOMS instead and/or perhaps fatigued muscles? I feel what you have described sometimes as well. Did you get enough sleep the night before? Did you have enough calorie intake, or too much? Could that be the reason for the stamina question? So many things like these could be the culprit. Or, it could be as what you say also. All I know is when I try to anylize things, those are the questions I ask myself. I here where you are coming from about the weight issue. Belive me.

Rhea, I see you are continuing and progressing through your hard workouts. You know, I have to tell you something. I feel that you have changed. You seem more, well, more in tune/positive. Can't put my finger on it exacly, but more something...I like it.

Jeanette, How ya doing?

I went off the wagon today. Was literally in a war with myself. It was awful. Yes, I did. I didn't get enough sleep last night (insomnia and way too much coffee all day) and it was my rest day. Little things that I normally wouldn't get upset at, I did. So, I think I ate for comfort. Shoot! Thank Goodness tomorrow is a fresh day. I'll get right back on track, I promise.

Sleep tight everyone and have good dreams,

Janie
