KK's August Check In

Morning ladies,
Today was Drill Max Cardio Leg Blast premix (57 minutes). This afternoon will be 9 holes of golf. Looking forward to that (I think). I did get in a bike ride after work and finally met my goal of highest average mph for my 20 mile loop!

Rhea, Solid Gold Step is a goodie for sure. Isn't her cueing awesome? I rarely watch the others, I'd get dizzy for sure. My toes were hurting a little by the end of Totally Hot Step. Think it's from the turns as there is not much impact. Any workout longer than 45 minutes and I start to feel it in my toes on the bottom of my left foot. Must put pressure on a nerve. Rhea, I need to check out Christi's site and see if there is anything I don't own of hers that is on sale.

Janie, yes, it is sad for Grandma. She's had a very long, independent life. It was hard for her when she had to give up driving. I hope that I can learn something from this experience too. I'll be going over and helping with her care this weekend for a day, splitting the time with my sister as my folks are going down south to a class reunion and they definitely need a break. Ooooh, your blackberry cobbler sounds delish!!! Love those kinds of desserts too!

Karen, glad you are enjoying your new workout clothes. Bet the dogs really like their new doghouse. Has to be pesky for your female dogs to have the males mounting them. What a pain. Are the males neutered?

Got to go,

Jeanette

Good morning!

I think Christi's website is Taylorfitness.com. I know the store was at fitnessfly.com, or at least that is the site that sent me the video. I got the Terrific Trio. I attempted to do the Happy Hour hi/lo yesterday. (hysterical laughter inserted here!) She takes up a lot of room forward and sideways in that one, so I was getting all discombubilated (sp?) with my feet because my living room is long, so I have to turn to the side to go sideways and then back around to do the forward backward stuff. Once I get the routine down, it should be easier, but I had three left feet yesterday.:7 I have a massage scheduled for tomorrow, so I'll attempt that one again this afternoon. I don't think I should golf this afternoon. That muscle knot is still there, right in the middle of the rhomboids, next to my spine. My golf swing has a pretty good upper body twist that probably would hurt more than help.

Jeanette, on the higher impact ones, my toes would hurt too. I don't know if it was because of my shoes or because I wasn't used to the impact. I've really stopped a lot of the pivots and the turns because of the carpet. My dream house is going to have a workout room with wood floors. (and plenty of space to do aerobics)

Karen - I can't allow myself to get any more workout clothes. If I do, then when they are all clean, I won't be able to fit them in my drawer. :-(

Janie- yummmy. I love fresh blackberries. You reminded me, I'm going to have to check my blackberry bush to see if they are ready. Hopefully I'm not too late. I totally forgot about my raspberries this year, so they didn't get enough water and they had teeny berries. Hopefully next year my garden will get some attention. I didn't have the time this year. In fact, nothing besides the berries even exist in my garden. No veggies, no nothing. Well, except there are some weeds that have crept in.

Must get back to work. Have a great day everyone!

Good Evening!:)

I was the hostess on our blog today, so that took up some of my work time today, plus just ordered some books for research for the next -- hopefully my editor will approve of it -- series. I'm kinda looking to write a story about the Iroquois and the Iroquois Confederacy -- but in the past my editors have wanted me to stay away from writing about the East Coast Indians. I'll cross my fingers.

Jeanette -- love Drill Max, but haven't done that premix -- it sounds intense, though. It is Drill Max isn't it that seems to have lots of shoulder work, right? And Congratulations on meeting your goal on that 20 mile loop -- highest average. Wow! And the dogs -- okay, so no, they aren't neutered yet. We know we have to do it, but we're putting it off for some reason. Guess we want them to feel a little more at home first.

Rhea -- I'll go check out her site -- I could google it, as well. That's a great price. Was also looking at Gin -- can't remember her last name -- but one of her workouts caught my eye -- just got my Collage catalogue. Interesting thing is, Rhea, that I sometimes injure myself in the rhomboids area, as well. Had me smiling about your workout space. I can't go very far to the side or even back, for that matter. Can you imagine a wooden floor workout room at home? Would be great.

Our garden is on our roof, of all places...and we have some herbs and tomatos and peppers this year. I want to plant grapes, zuccini and cucumbers and red leaf lettuace next year, as well. Love eating from the garden.

Oh, and it was Power Hour for me today. That's a terrific workout. Really felt it. Tomorrow is either a sprint 8 outside or a Cathe cardio, and a stretch.

Have suddenly gained 3 pounds. Deep sigh. So I'm trying to really watch what I eat right now.

Hi Janie and Becky -- hope you both are doing great! Well, I'm off to get some more work done.

Have a really great day tomorrow and some super workouts.:7

Good morning,
Today's workout was Riva Shea's Yoga Shakti for about 50 minutes using the matrix. Been so long since I've done yoga, but it felt good to stretch out my muscles. Enjoyed my golf game with the prison priest yesterday. He gave me some good tips that helped.

Rhea, hope the back is better. Did you get to golf last evening? I got to see my friends Cindy Gatie and Mary Jo Norris at the course yesterday so that was nice. I golfed the back nine (for the first time) and enjoyed it. Some of those tees are sure hard to get into the ground. Hope you get that dream house someday. Wood floors would be nice.

Karen, what's the reason for not writing about the East Coast Indians? Can't figure that one out. Garden on the roof? Can't imagine how that is. Is the roof sloped or flat? Know you will get that 3# off. It's probably water weight anyways.

Hi to Janie & Becky, Janie, how was that cobbler?

Jeanette

Good morning!

Yesterday I did the Happy Hour Hi/lo with Christi again. Not so much laughing this time and a few less left feet. Still had problems in the end with trying to keep the directions going smooth in my living room, but a bit better.

Did not golf yesterday. That twisitng motion would have killed me. In fact, yesterday's day of sitting at work really did me in. I hurt more yesterday evening than on Sat or Sun. Today is not much better and I have more sitting to look forward to. I'm bummed I didn't get to play. I play with Cindy and Mary Jo all the time. In fact, Mary Jo and I think we may be cursed, the last two times we played on a Sat morning, wildfires started; first the one over by her house and then the second one over in Susan hills (wasn't that big, but we could see the flame from the clubhouse) My golfing is probably going to be limited to Tues evenings for the rest of the year. I have so many projects to do at the house. In fact, for some reason, a not planned project, is what I have been working on for the past two-three days. I finally put up our family photos on the wall. I mean, changed to frames that can hang, bought more frames to put more pictures in, and last but not least, finally got an 8 x 10 blow ups of our trip to Steamboat and our wedding (okay, that was almost twenty years ago...so it has taken me a while) I'm going to have to take a picture of the frame with the wedding picture and send it out to my friends, they won't believe I actually have a picture in it!!!! Plus, I even took my high school class photo and my junior year band photo out of the closet, unrolled it and took it to Deb over at Picture Perfect to mount them. I don't know how this project even got started? But it is almost done!! Boy have I been rambling!

Better get to work. Have a great day everyone!

Good Mornin,

Karen Kay, there seems to be a lot I don't know about editors. I'm sure I'll learn as I go. Why can't you write about certain tribes?

OMG! A garden on the roof? How lovely and unique. Can you grow that much on a roof? Or should I ask, "You can grow stuff on a roof?" (picturing the roof falling in).

Jeanette, I love Riva Shea and the matrix. Good job! How did you meet a prision priest? I bet that is an interesting story.

Rea, I'm sorry you are having a bummer week. When things go wrong in so many directions I usually try to have a "Get away" for a week or so. Or something to occupy my mind for a while. Please take care. Do you want to come over here to Washington?

The cobbler was yummy and only had one small piece of it. I was a very good girl.

Today is Chest and Triceps from the Gym Style workouts. Then later this evening I'll do a yoga or a 30 min. cardio, not too intense.

Hi Becky, Hope everything is good.

Janie

Good Evening!:)

It was a cardio from CTX for me today and stretch with Cathe -- with the band. Then off to get as much work done as I could -- we are going to a place called Front Line near Las Vegas next weekend and I want to have this proposal done before we go. Pant...pant.

Re: writing -- Well, writing is very personal and somewhat lonely, but it's also a team activity in some respects with your editor. You might like to write about something, but the editor has to make sure that the idea is saleable, and since she has to convince marketing and the sales department to buy the book, she, too, has to feel the idea is saleable. I once had an editor that only wanted me to write about Plains Indians and wouldn't take a proposal from me on any of the Eastern tribes. I think maybe she thought that Plains Indians were romanctic more than the East Coast. But I'm only assuming -- I don't really know for sure. Anyway, I've been kinda keeping with that plan -- until I decided I wanted to write about the Iroquois -- and realized (duh!) that my current editor might not object. So we'll see...

And the garden on the roof -- our roof over our garage is flat and we can walk out to it from the 2nd floor of our house -- and we have so little room to grow things that we decided to put a garden on the roof. The guys (my DH and BIL) made planters with a water system and poof! -- a garden on the roof. So far we have tomatoes and peppers and my herb garden. I want to grow grapes and berries, as well as zuccini. Really love the feeling of growing things.

Jeanette -- golf sounds so fun -- and beautiful. The course sounds so pretty. Glad you enjoyed the yoga. I love the stretching, also, but rather stick with Cathe cause I dont' injure myself with her and I'm not very flexible.

Rhea -- You had me laughing aloud again. Twenty years before putting up your wedding photos. Gee, it really sounds like you're having fun with this project. We, too, are doing alota things around the house -- mostly to do with the dogs or with food -- wanna get some other stuff done, as well, though. Sorry you are having some problems with -- is it injuries? Hopefully getting a massage will help with that. Pain when you're sitting. That would be difficult, I must admit -- since I have to sit to work. Let me know how you're doing though, okay?

Janie -- Sounds like you are having a great time with your gym styles. Hope I answered your questions about editors and stuff. Yes, you'll come to find out all this -- but that's part of the fun.

Hi Becky -- hope you're not working too hard, and that you're still doing okay on your workouts.

Well, have a wonderful day, everyone! And have some terrific workouts!:7

Good morning,
Today was most of GS Chest & Triceps (left off the kickbacks with the band on triceps) and then 2 SJP hi-lo combos, with the abs and planks from SJP. Good workout and my upper body is feeling toasty. Have my last hill climb competition tonite. Hope it's not too hot tonite. My goal will be to manage my heart rate during the climb up to the top (plus if I beat my last time, that's good too).

Karen, very interesting about your roof. A flat roof of course, you must not get much snow LOL! Flat roofs don't work in this part of the country. When they built the local prisons here, they built them with flat roofs and they need to be replaced badly, or at least the prison where I work does. Hope you get to write about what you want re: the east coast Indians.

Janie, I did GS chest & triceps also. It's a good workout and I was shaking pretty good during the work. I work with the prison priest as part of my duties fall under the Associate Warden in charge of religious programs for the inmates here. He's Shri-lankan (sp?) and around 50 years old but in good shape. Glad the cobbler was good and you kept to a small piece. I would have had a hard time keeping it at that.

Rhea, I sure hope you are feeling better this morning. What did you do to hurt your back? LOL re: getting your wedding pictures up! You sound like me. I look forward to someday being able to play golf with Mary Jo and Cindy. I go way back with Cindy as my son was tight with her twins while growing up and I worked for SPI for years as the log accountant. Enjoyed a few glasses of wine with her over the years. Mary Jo is a peach too. Sure hope your day is better today.

Must go now, wish me a tailwind going up Eagle Lake Summit tonite.

Jeanette

Good Evening!:)

Jeanette -- hope you had a great tailwind on your hill climb tonight. How did you do? EAgle Lake Summit sounds like a beautiful place -- just the name sounds beautiful. Really love SJP -- I can rarely do the entire workout cause it's a little over an hour, but I love it and love the premixes -- so many different ways to do the workout.

Rhea -- hope you are doing better today. Was thinking about you today and hoping that things are going better. Remember when my daughter was very young, she got to a point where her back hurt her so much, she couldn't sit still for longer than a few minutes at a time. Chiropractic helped her tremendously -- even to this day, it's never been as it bad as it was then. Do well, okay?

Janie -- sounds like a wonderful time you're having -- picking berries and making pies. Love it!

Hi Becky!

Let's see -- today it was Bootcamp for me today -- love that workout. Tomorrow am planning a Sprint 8 if I can get out early enough so that I miss the heat -- it has been so hot here lately that I'm only working out indoors. But would like to do a Sprint 8, though, if I can.

Well, I turned in the synopsis -- just finished it and got it off to my editor (via email) only an hour ago. So that is done. Deep breath...

Oh, I also bought a new pair of sneakers from Zappos -- I ordered AVIA's -- am trying to avoid buying anything from China and I really had a hard time finding decent Training shoes that aren't made in China. Hopefully the shoes will be great.

Anyway, have a super day and some terrific workouts, and in case I don't have a chance tomorrow, have a terrific holiday, everyone!:7

Hi ladies. I am really bad at getting back into the hang of posting. :)

I have been doing time on the treadmill trying to get back to where I was. I think today after work I am going to do some weight work. Maybe PowerHour. Depending on what Cathe posts for Sept rotation, I may do that.

I am on psych rotation now. Very different from surgery.

Well, must get ready for work. Hope everyone has a great day.

Becky

Good morning,
Today was GS Legs (standing only) and Coremax #3. Last night's hill climb was good. The weather was good, and no wind, though my DH couldn't believe it because at home about 7 miles away, the winds were really a'blowing! My time was slower by around 2 minutes than earlier in the year. I think I'm ready to take a break from riding hard for a while. We had a good turnout last night and think everyone enjoyed it (as much as you can working hard).

My DH will be going camping this weekend. I'll be staying around to help take care of my Grandma as my parents are out of town at my Mom's class reunion.

Becky, good to see you on here. Know you are working hard and learning lots.

Rhea, hope you are feeling better. Have you gone to the chiropractor for your back or is it a muscle strain type thing?

Karen, good for you for doing Bootcamp. I remember fearing that workout so much, until I did it. What a feeling of accomplishment when you are done though. I like doing the premix where you do everything but abs and then add them all in at the end.

Have to go. I'm sure missing that my DH will be out camping and me at home. I'll get to spend some quality time with Grandma though.

Hope everyone has a nice 3 day weekend!

Jeanette

Good morning!

I took yesterday off from work so no posting for me.

I'll tell you how the muscle pull happened....just don't laugh too hard. Well, Miss Daisy (one of my girl kitties) loves to get me up around 4:00 to let her out. Well, she has begun to play this little game. She hides. If I go back to bed, she'll come get me again in about 30-40 mins. So the second time she walked down my body on Sat morning, I grabbed her with my left hand and struggled to get out of bed without letting her go. I moved just the wrong way and the muscle right next to my shoulder blade spasmed. (I had just had a massage the day before, so that could have contributed) Of course, I didn't let go of the cat. I was actually much better until about Tues afternoon; I think all the sitting got to me, along with the typing and sitting at a computer.

I'm a bit better today, but yesterday I ended up sitting a lot (eye appointment and dermatologist appointment both came through unexpectedly.)

Anyhoo, no workout on Weds, great massage that made me feel like a tub of jello and then a vat of toxic waste (yuck I hate that feeling). Yesterday I did Cardio Collectibles. Today will be some sort of cardio. I might try light weights tomorrow. I just don't want to do any back work yet.

It was so windy at our house last night, I'm surprised that there was no wind for your ride Jeanette. But that is good that it was not windy.

Well, I've been rambling on long enough. I'd better at least pretend to get some work done.

Have a great three day weekend!

Jeanette, Glad to hear you made it through with the hill climb and that everyone enjoyed it.

Karen Kay, congratulations thus far on the synopsis.

Becky, You'll get back to where you were sooner than you think. Muscle memory is wonderful.

Rhea, don't feel bad about pulling a muscle from lifting your kitty, sometimes just stretching wrong can pull one. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm expecting "Cardio Collectibles" in the mail today or tomorrow. I can hardly wait!

Today is a 30 min. cardio and GS Back Shoulder and Biceps.

Have an awesome weekend everyone.

Janie

Good Evening!:)

Not sure anyone will be checking in over the weekend, but will post tonight anyway.

Jeanette -- I can understand missing your hubby -- him going camping without you -- but you're right -- you'll have some great time with your grandmother. Actually that's good that you were only 2 minutes off your time earlier this year -- wasn't earlier this year the best you'd ever done? So it's all good, isn't it?

Becky -- nice to see you back here again -- the others are right, I think -- you'll get back into it sooner than you expect, I think.

Rhea -- Made me laugh again with the cat episode -- I can only imagine -- don't we just love our animals? Sounds like you're doing all the right things -- staying off the back and let it recover. Enjoy your cardio.

Janie -- Still love your graphics -- they are so original -- I tried to upload a picture for my posts and couldn't figure it out -- I'm not exactly real computer lit -- if any of you know how to upload a picture, let me know, okay?

Well, it was Sprint 8 for me today outside -- gee, it was hot, though -- tomorrow am planning BM2 if I have time, if not, I'll do some other circuit workout -- but am hoping to get in BM2.

Oh, Jeanette -- meant to tell you -- next weekend, my DH and BIL and I are all going to Las Vegas to Front Sight self defense training. Am really looking forward to it -- a friend of ours is having a birthday party there and he gets to invite 40 people for a 4 day long training -- usually $2,000.00 a person -- we're getting it free. Am enjoying not being on deadline. Really enjoying it. Wouldn't want to not be on deadline for long, but it's nice for right now.

Okay, so have a terrific weekend, everyone and a fabulous holiday.:7

Good Evening!:)

Hope you all had a terrific holiday! Ours was great -- not that we did anything special -- it was just nice to be here without having to have to do anything.;)

So I thought I'd figure out the plan for the workouts for the week -- Thursday afternoon, we are going to Las Vegas -- Front Sight -- for four days. I don't think I'll take weights -- but I'll take my band in order to do my weight work, I think.

Oh, Sat. I did the whole SJP workout -- I've never done the whole thing -- just the premixes -- what a great workout that is. Love the low impact intensity -- what fun. Also, liked Cathe's humor on this workout. Had me laughing outloud.

Here's the plan:

Mon: today was IMAX2 -- in the heat it was quite something to do

Tues: ME -- either the premix or the whole thing

Wed: Sprint 8 outside or a Cathe cardio and stretch

Thurs: Circuit Max (haven't done this one in a while)

Fri: We'll be in Las Vegas -- Sprint 8 outside or a run

Sat: Make up my own Circuit workout

Sun: Off

Mon: Sprint 8 outside -- we come home from Las Vegas this day.

Well, hope this works out okay -- have a terrific day everyone and some terrific workouts!:7
