Kidz Bop - wee bit of a vent

Please tell me that I am not the only one (besides DH) that is driven absolutely bonkers by this commercial. I think they are advertising #14 now. 1st, a bunch of kids badly singing bad pop songs and dancing off beat and out of sync is NOT CUTE!!! 2nd, do the producers of this, and the parents that are buying it (hoping not to offend anyone on the board) realize that a lot of the song lyrics are not kid-friendly. The one that sticks out most is the newest commercial with the Sean Kingston song with the lyrics "Shorty, I will take you there" Um, yeah, he's not talking about taking her to the movies! And the Pussy Cat Dolls songs, there are some role models!! "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder - fantabulous song about cheating on your SO with your EX on the line and your SO in the other room. Goodness, just because kids are signing it doesn't make it a kids song!!! Why not just let them listen to the regular version instead of horrid kid singing?

Ok, vent over,

Nan

PS - I think they should put some NIN on the next album. If kids are singing about it, then its ok, regardless of meaning/lyrics!

Yeah, I hate Kidz Bop. Every time they come out with a new one, my DD asks for it. I ask her what songs she wants, then download the real version from iTunes and put it on her iPod (yeah - she has one, it's my hand-me-down from when I upgraded). I told her I'm happy to get her music, but she's not getting a lame version.

Sorry to say this if Shelly is reading...but Teri is a big Nickelback fan now because of Kidz Bop.

nan, vent away! i hate that stuff too! the media is trying to sex up our children and i am sick of it.

my girls, ages 6 and 4, never listen to the radio and we don't have a tv.

why on earth is HIGH SCHOOL musical marketed to such young children!?
bratz dolls, hannah montana......yeah, lets teach our young girls to wear skimpy clothing and paint themselves with tons of makeup!

boy, if i werent typing 1-handed right now and could type faster i'd write a book right now!

Why in the world would parents let their young children listen to that junk??? Don't they hear what's on there??? No way would I let my boys listen to that. In the car we listen to kids music and sing a long stuff. No radio station is safe for young kids. Sorry. I am sooooo not ready to have explain one single vulgar word or phrase to my kids. Even I get embarrassed if it's on with other adults in mixed company!!!

I cannot believe they are up to Volume 14 or whatever the newest one is. First, the songs are SOOOO inappropriate for that age group. Thankfully, my DD who is 10 thinks they are lame as well so doesn't ask for it.

its so nice to see other moms feel the same way dh and i do.
smetimes i feel like im the only mom at school trying to keep my girls innocent!

one little boy in my dds 1st grade class told a bunch of kids that he went to mexico to get a blow job!!! and, yes, he knew exactly what he was talking about. ......makes me want to homeschool....

Kate you are *not* alone. One of the reasons my sis and her DH decided to homeschool was because of this kind of thing. One little boy in my niece's kindergarten class you to say to the girls "nice t**s." And this was at Catholic school!

Scandalized,

Sparrow

Ehhh...she'll outgrow it. I liked Andy Gibb when I was her age. She likes the Foo Fighters, so there is hope for my little rocker. I get a kick out of her asking to download songs from Pink or whoever, and there's a word like sh** in it. She'll ask if it's OK, because there's ONE bad word. Makes me remember my first "vulgar" album. I was in 6th grade, and it was Alice Cooper, the song was "Go to Hell". I kept thinking, "I hope my parents don't hear this!" LOL.

I'm not too concerned with her hearing things, because whether or not she hears a colorful word in a song, she'll hear it just walking through the mall or anywhere you come in contact with other people. She knows what she is allowed to say, and what she's not.

Only kids music or Christian music in this house or in my car!:D Went into a Radio Shack w/ DS(7) and they had Heavy Metal playing and he loved it. So I went out and found him some albums from Christian Heavy Metal Bands and he is happy! And I don't have to worry about what he is hearing!

good for you linda!
my girls love "ralph's world"....and i do too!
there's this cute song about m-o-m-m-y needs c-o-f-f-e-e!

And this was a BAD thing? My life was enriched by repeated exposure to "Shadow Dancing."

Musically, Andy is not my cuppa anymore. Though, I can stand to listen to his brothers on occassion. I'm very ecclectic in my taste - my iPod ranges from Patsy Cline, to Mozart, to Eminem, to Metallica. No Andy Gibb.
