Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs-- :)

Last day of work for this week. Plan was to run or hit the EXT this AM since a PM workout is not possible (semi-finals of the Euro Championship this afternoon!!), but I am having some stomach issues this morning. Hope it passes. No DOMS as of yet (bummer, Wendy! :))

OK, it's a short n' sweet one here as I caught up w/ personals last night. Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Go Deutschland!!!

wt-OH NO! i hope i didn't give you my stomach virus. as you know, my whole yesterday was spent within close proximity of the loo. i will attempt some workout today. probably just nrolw without the cardio. well see... oh, those books i was speaking of: like i said anything by kozol (death at an early age and amazing grace stick out in my mind right now);pedagogy of the oppressed by paolo friere; and still we rise by miles corwin. that should be a good start. peter mclaren is also good. he's a frierian.

well, i gotta go catch up on yesterday's posts. bb.

p-p-p-p-personals!

wt-say yay for psychological break-throughs! scary how wt we are!!!

gloria-did you get that nano? i have purchased on ebay once or twice but i am not a regular. i have had good experiences so far.

wendy-it sounds like ds is well on his way re: the potty. i have heard that it is a bit more dificult for boys but if you stick with it, they do get it. apparently, a lot of my friends have had success with this book/dvd. i'll try to find out the name for you. WAY TO GO ON PLACING IN YOUR RACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are one fast cheetah. awesome.
http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/18/18_3_5.gif

marcia-did you get things sorted out with cc? sean is very nice and i am sure he will help you out.

christine-well, since we can't go shopping this time, we will have to make a rain check. how fun!!! i know what you mean about not being 100%. it kills me.

shelly-i hope your evening at work (and parking situation) was better last night!!!

carole-thanks for the healing vibes. i am hoping to get in some kind of workout. maybe i'll just do nrolw and skip the cardio. we'll see...

posh-so sorry you are dealing with all the smoke. i am sending prayers to all the cali cheetahs (and everyone else affected). please take care of yourself.

jackie-i am determined to find some iTrains i can download. i am really interested in the swimming workouts but i don't have a waterproof mp3. nbf has an ipod with the waterproof covering, but it's the one he takes when he travels for work (which is 3-4 days a week) and i can't convince him that he wants to give it to me. i keep thinking i should cancel my 3 for 9.99/month, but i know what a great deal that is!!!

judy-i can't believe you are already done with stage three!!! how amazing! are you liking your results? i can see more definition than i have had before and that's with minimal workouts (becasue of injury, time, etc.). i am really liking the program. today is an nrolw day (squats, push ups, etc.).

happy wednesday to all!

WT: LMBO! I just saved a bundle on therapy, didn't I?...I added those titles to my Amazon shopping list but will try to get through my current stack of PD books before purchasing. :)...I definitely do not think I am getting sick...could just be something didn't agree with me, I guess. Hope you're feeling better today...enjoy your NROL workout. Does that mesh well with a marathon training program, in your opinion?

Happy HuMp Day :)

I think I'm doing a 5miler or possible 6. Legs feel good-- I think I'll let them take me where they want. It isn't raining so that's a great thing. I have to work biceps *flex flex* and also some core work.

Made some sinfully rich chocolate brownies yesterday afternoon. I know this cause the sweet smell got to me-- way too sweet :( But perhaps that's a good thing I don't like-- or I'd be as wide as a house. :7

Cathy: Enjoy your day --hope your stomach issues go away fast. So you are a EURO soccer fan huh? DH would watch but can't always catch the games. A few years ago someone in Germany and Scotland found DH's name online. They shared the same last name-- come to find out they were related and he was the missing link so to speak :) Reason I mention is that they were and are HUGE Euro fans. They are interesting to listen--they said it's crazy there when games are played :) See I ramble for a reason :)

Christine and carole: I was watching the news this morning about the fires. I can not believe how dry it is there. Here in NY we have ahd our fair share and then some of rain. While watching DD's soccer game last night, I couldn't believe how wet the field was and how tall the grass was. They said on the news that it may not gte better for your area come mid summer. I wish the rain would hit your area-soon :)

Refill time :)

wt-i think it would go well with marathon training, especially since the time investment is small. judy has done way more than me, so i would ask her opinion as well.

kath-the yahoo group is secure. there was one area regarding archives that was mistakenly made public, but that was changed. it is now truly a group that ONLY MEMBERS can access for all areas. hope the rain misses you and you get in a good run!

I'm glad I could help you on that Lorie. Felt you should know that it wasn't as private as thought. I tried messaging you but I know you are busy..at least it is fixed now :)

Good Morning Ladies.

Okay, this day light at 5:30 in the morning thing has GOT to stop! It's maddening!LOL I keep waking up in a panic at about 5:45 am thinking myself and/or DH has overslept!

Cathy: If you are thinking of NROLW, I can lend you my book. It will actually help me not to crumble on my plans for the next few months. :p I'd be happy to mail it off to you so you can read it and decide if you want to purchase it and do the program or not. When you are done, you can send it on back. I won't need it for a good 3 months at this point I am thinking. Just let me know if you want it. :)

Lorie: Thanks re the race. Glad your stomach issues are better.

Kath: Enjoy your run this morning, Cheetah! ;)

I will be heading to gym around 10am to get in my HIIT and a steady state run. I still want to try to run that 3 miler at a steady 10 min mile pace. I have a (stupid) work meeting at noon so I am going to time my gym visit so that I only have to go there ONCE today. I will work out, shower and then head to the meeting all in one visit. The babysitting area will not be open on friday nights during the summer but will now be open on Sunday mornings (they were always closed). This change starts July 1 and I am sure the meeting is to get folks to volunteer to work the new shift. Um...she can count me out for sure!:p

BBL.

Back from my run. Got in 3 miles. Stomach not 100% but bearable. It was a decent run. I'm happy. :7

WT ~ Thanks! Perhaps if Judy checks in today, she will comment.

Kath ~ Oh yeah. The atmosphere of Bundesliga and international matches is just incredible. Enjoy your run.

Wendy ~ thanks so much for the offer. Very kind of you. I'm going to take a peek in the bookstore first before I jump on board. Sorry, but I love it being light in the morning! *lol* This is my favorite time to run, when the sun's just coming up. Hope the meeting goes quickly. Give up your Sunday? Yeah, right!

"Do you want to feel my spatula?" Run, Fat Boy, Run

Forgot to post this earlier.

I know I mentioned Dh's issue with his calf/ankle while running. He now has lower back pain. He went to a chiro on Tuesday. This morning his lower back pain is worse. He has to go back today for another treatment with chiro. You all know how stubborn DH is :7 I'm thinking perhaps maybe since he has this issue with his calf, and the way he has been walking lately--he favors the stronger leg, that perhaps is a cause?! Any thoughts? And do you think a chiro is the way to go? Now remember he is italian and stubborn :)

Morning Cheetahs!

School starts in 15 min. so I just am posting that we did not walk due to an issue my partner was having so I ran on the treadmill. 5 miles in 48:00. Ahh, was a little crabby this morning, but that made me feel better! :) BBL!

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Wendy – WAY TO GO GIRL!!!! YAY!!! How exciting to place in the top 10!!! You didn’t buy anything for yourself?! Wow! I’m impressed! LOLing at your panic attacks at 5:30. I did the same thing in Boston. It scared the devil out of me!! I know your pain. Hope you get to avoid the Sunday AM shift. Ouch!

Thomasina – I’m glad you’re feeling better! I know, California is horrible right now! Yesterday our skies were brown, and today it won’t be any better. The newscasters are already saying that the skies will be brown and to limit outdoor activities. Hope they get these under control; soon! Sorry it’s affecting your asthma so badly. I’m taking many of the same precautions and as work’s air conditioning system is old and pulls from the outside air, it’s not going to be pleasant there, either.

Jackie – I thought that tri sounded like a good time. I think I need to be careful with my back. If the back is still hurting after a week, then I’ll see the doc. I hope your hip feels better!

Jackie – thank you re: fires. It’s not the lead story today in the news, so that’s a good sign. :p Hope golfing was fun!

Kath – Lorie is right about the Yahoo Group. You can find the group when you do a search, but it’s only to say that it exists and that you have to join to get messages. Enjoy your run today! In California we actually don’t get much rain in the summer. That’s usually a great thing as we can typically pick any day in the summer and know it’s going to be sunny, but this year we did not get enough rain, then we started the season with a heat wave, and this is the result, unfortunately. I hope it does rain soon! Thanks for the thoughts!

Gloria – Oh that trail sounds like fun! I like the less technical stuff, too (used to love the technical, but my banged up knees did not). Brad Pitt is beautiful! :p Thanks for thinking of us out here in smoky Cali. I think we all need some of what Shelly has – she’s one of a kind, isn’t she? :p Hope you find your energy.

Cathy – good workout yesterday! Enjoy the DOMS! So what work are you doing now? Do you have any of the summer off? Hope the tummy issues resolve themselves. Glad you were able to get in a run. My tummy isn’t happy because I’ve added a little too much dairy back into my diet, so I know the feeling.

Lorie – can you take that rain check and send the rain to us? :p We need it. But, yes, we’ll go shopping soon. That would be a blast!! Hope you’re feeling better today!!

Well, back is still bothering me, but it seems a little better. I looked up my back pain on line and it’s a simple strain, I’m pretty sure. What a pain, literally. I think I’m going to take the advice of all the websites and rest. *drums fingers* I’m not good at this rest stuff, but my desire to ride this LiveStrong Challenge is stronger than my desire to push it. I cannot take a walk today as the smoke is VERY bad right now. Our sunrise is brown. Hope these fires clear soon. Have a great day all!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...sorry about the stomach issues. I bet you are looking forward to this last day of work. Good job on the 3 miles!

Wendy..Good job on placing in the top 10! I have not checked out Tony's new workouts, what do you think? The nasty thunderstorm Sat started 150 fires in our county alone. We don't have enough firefighters and engines to fight all of them, so they have to let some burn. The closest one to us is 7 miles away. But the smoke is here daily.

Kath..No, I went on the RT last year and will not attend this year. Good job on the 4 miles yesterday. I hope you will answer me, but why is there such a worry about the Yahoo groups being private? The Cathe Forums are not private? We did not get nearly enough rain this year and therefore the fire danger is high, so the lightning storm did not do anything good to the already dry areas.

Shelly...thanks re my pic. The endless smoky conditions can really get you down. We just don't have enough manpower to fight all the fires so they have to let some burn. I have no idea when we will get any relief. Yes I am enjoying P90X+!

Gloria...Yes, the smoke from all the fires is really bad. I am praying for relief soon. I grew up in LA, so I know all about the smog!! Good job getting in your walk even when you felt tired.

Christine...sounds like a nice walk with Jimmy yesterday. I'd say see a chiro for the lower back (but, that is how I think!). Icing the area can relieve some pain too. I sure hope the fires get out soon in our areas.

Posh..I am with you on this blasted smoke! I don't think it will be going away anytime soon. Last night was so bad, I could not even see the sun!

Jackie...sorry about the pull-up bar messing up the door frame paint!! These kind of blackberries you don't eat. Besides they were taking over some of my nice plants! I do hope the foam rolling helps your hip.

Judy...thanks for the hugs...:)...hopefully we can get in some more fire crews from other areas as we just do not have enough firefighters for all the fires.

Today is P90X+ Total Body and a 4-5 mile run. I figure if the firefighters are out in the smoke all day, I can run 4-5 miles!

Have a great day...:)

Morning cheetahs! Barely able to keep my eyes open for this post.
Didn't nap well yesterday and was screamin busy all nite. However, I am feeling better despite my fatigue.

For today I will be truly resting!! (well, maybe I'll do some core work when I get up) ;-)

Christine- glad you were able to get in an enjoyable walk yest with Jimmy... what a shame the smoke is so bad today!! Glad to hear you're giving the back a rest!!

Posh- I feel so sorry for you and Carole and Christine having to breath all that sooty air!! I'd be sticking to the TM myself!

Wendy Yay for you... an official top ten finisher cheetah!!!!!!! Congrats! Wont be too much longer before you'll be getting an age group award. BTW-- LOVE that potty award... nothing words like good old positive reinforcement. That little boy of yours is just too cute!!

Jackie- Taking a break from X+? Sounds like there is an awful lot of emphasis on pullups and pushups. Hope the shoulder feels better soon.

Judy- Nice day yest. for you doing what you love... golf! Do you enter tournaments and compete ever? You are SO right about sleep... far more important for our bodies then workouts!!

Gloria- All I got in me is is crazy determination... you really don't need that! A sensible approach to getting rest when you need it sounds AOK to me!! sorry your e-bay shopping didn't go so well.
My DH loves bidding on e-bay. I'm with you... sounds too frustrating to me!

Cathy- Hope you get in good run or EXT workout.and the stomach settles down.. enjoy the soccer. How long have you been into this anyway?

Lorie- Things are a bit better today... had a rough couple of days there but nothin compared to what you're dealing with worshiping at the porcelein god poor cheetah! sure hope this turns around for you soon.

Kath- Oh boy... another rainy run for you! You've been blazin fast lately with the wet weather!
You go girl!!! Hey, re: your DH's back pain I'd say going to the Chiro is definitely worth while at this point. I like conservative tx when it comes to back pain. Traditional medicine doesn't have very good answers often in dealing with this.

Carole- interesting motivation for your run outside today. You're not going for a long run so I think you'll be fine and I'm sure you will sensibly cut it short if you're feeling bad.

My bed is calling me... nite everyone!

ShellyC

Shelly...sorry for your super busy work days and the fatigue that follows. Enjoy your much needed rest. You know me well and yes if the smoke is real bad I will cut my run short and do something inside...:)

workout report...nrolw-check! 1 1/2 mile swim-check! i am happy to be done for the day and it seems my cold/stomach bug is still lingering but not bad. i am glad to be on the upswing!

Good morning Cheetahs!

Wendy - Congrats on placing in your race! IA that you are a real runner anytime you run! Great idea with DS and the potty rewards! I can just picture that big smile on his face. So you're dead weight for DH? :) You'll get better.

Judy - Congrats on being finished with Stage 3!

Gloria - It's nice to be able to sleep in when you're off work instead of having to get up at the crack of dawn to get your walk in. Hope you enjoy those days. I'm one of those last minute bidders on ebay. I set my limit and when I reach it, that's it.

Cathy - Enjoy your last day of work for the week! You get to sleep in tomorrow. Oh no on the tummy! Hope it's better. Glad you were able to get a run in.

Lorie - Yeah, you still have a sweet deal with iTrain. I think the people that had the 5 for $9.99 got to keep that until they canceled too. If I could swim, I might download a swim too. But, lo, I'm more like a rock. Hope you can work something out with NBF. Maybe you can barter. ;-) Good job on the swim. Glad you're feeling a little better.

Kath - Hope you had a good run! Temps are still pretty good in the mornings but that will be changing soon. Sorry DH is having back pain.

Christine - Sure hope those fires are contained soon. We're not getting rain but we don't have to worry like you CA ladies. Sorry the back is still bothering you. Hope the rest helps it. Now be a good little girl and follow all that good advice. :)

Carole - Did you add a lot of cardio when you did P90X for the first time? And, how did it affect your results? I can see great definition on the UB but my BF rose some. I really think it comes from not having a good leg workout in the mix. Enjoy your workout and have a good smoky run. Maybe it won't be so bad.

Shelly - You are back in the swing of things now with the busy nights. I'm wondering if using the Perfect Push Ups may have bothered my shoulder. The push ups don't normally bother me when I do P90X and there are a lot of push ups. I remember how my shoulder felt after doing too many planks and I have that feeling now. Doing PUB really helped then. Maybe I need to pull it out again.

I did iClimb #3 20 minutes. Felt like it wasn't enough cardio and added 10 minutes. Did GS Legs Timesaver premix, 6 Minute Abs and rolled my hip a little. Hip didn't ache at all last night. May need to keep up the foam rolling but it's just so hard to work everything in. Can't remember when I get home after work to do it.

Have a good day!

Jackie

Hello!!! :)

Cathy: Good luck to your team tonight! So will it be soccer + CABS? }( LOL! Fantastic your work week is done. This summer thing has not been hard, but I am eagerly watching that light at the end of the tunnel get closer! :) Hope that stomach issue subsides! Nice workouts last night and this morning! I chuckled at the thread title this morning.

Lorie: No new nano for me. The price just kept getting to high for me. I should have known. Oh well. I will survive. Good to hear you are on the mend. It must be because you are so dang healthy! :) Great workout!!!!

Wendy: Thanks for the info. on ebay. Good news about DS and the potty. That is a very good idea with the stickers. Good luck on the run. I get tired of all the meetings during the school year. Hope you survive! 

Kath: I have never gone to a chiropractor so I can’t chime in here.

Christine: The trail is pretty. I have never wiped out on my bike but have bit it on a few trail runs!  I think it is wise to rest the back today. That is scary about all the smoke everywhere. That stinks (literally) about the air conditioner at the office. Yes, Shelly is what I would call FIERCE!!!! I bet she is stronger than most men! LOL! 

Carole: Be careful out there! I heard they are bringing fire fighters over from neighboring states. I hope that helps. This is just out of control. How have you been feeling with your runs? My ITB has been feeling a little tight so I will foam roll tonight. I want to get a hold of the situation before it turns into something more. Take care!

Shelly: See my post to Christine above. HE HE!  I have to admit you do help keep me motivated.  That’s why we are here right! Sorry you have been so tired. I hope you can catch up soon. Enjoy the rest today!

Jackie: I am happy to hear you did not have the hip pain last night. I always forget to foam roll too. I will tonight. That thing works wonders for me! It was worth every penny. 20 min. of cardio would not be enough for me either. My minimum is 30 min. I do that when I am tired or just short on time. 40 is a good amount for me, but I am trying to do a little more to get ready for the 9.3 miler on July 12th. Hope your day is a good one!

As stated this morning, I ran 5 miles on the treadmill because my walking partner was not feeling well. I MUCH prefer getting in a tougher workout in the morning. It has just been my routine for many years now. Think I will just laze around for a bit and write down the summer school list of things to do later. I will also be picking up after DH and grilling some shrimp. They do take a long time to prep. Have a wonderful Wednesday! 

Hey Cheetah Babes.

This morning's work out was great. TOUGH but great. I started on the EXT doing my HIIT. Can someone say OUCH!? Then I moved on to the tm and ran 3 miles in 29:53. I'm comin' back! I wasn't perfectly comfortable the entire time but am obviously feeling better and better! YAY! :+ I was exhausted when I was done. When I got off the EXT my legs felt like lead. I questioned being able to run at all! LOL :p

We are going bowling again tonight. We don't have a sitter to watch Joey for bowling for the next 2 mondays as the family will be on vacation so we need to pre-bowl. We are taking Joey with us tonight. We can alternate helping him bowl on his own lane while we pre-bowl on 2 lanes next to him. Should be interesting! LOL Hopefully I can bowl over my average for all 3 games again!

That being said, I am hitting the personals early just in case I don't get back here to do it later....

Cathy: Glad you appreciate the early light. I do too, overall, I just have to stop waking up in a panic every morning! LOL If you change your mind about the NROLW book, just let me know. :)

Gloria: Nice run! Enjoy your shrimp tonight!

Christine: It looks like I may have to bite the bullet in July and take one Sunday shift just to cover since managment isn't very bright and made this decision last minute so our supervisor has very little time to get it covered by hiring. She DOES intend to hire though and I do NOT intend to be put on Sundays on any kind of regular basis. I will deal with one Sunday to help out in a pinch though. I can't imagine living amidst all of the fires and the smoke. I hope it clears soon.

Carole: I intend to purchase Tony's new stuff. It sounds good to me personally. Those fires sounds scarey. I can't even imagine. I am just so glad you and Christine are safe.

Shelly: I hope you slept well. Thanks re Joey. I agree that he's a cutie. ;) He wasn't too cute this morning though! OMG! I was at a meeting at work and he was with me. He was misbehaving so much. I was sooo embarrassed. :-( I would love to nail an AG award just one time!

Lorie: Good job on the work out despite not feeling tops today. I hope you are feeling better tomorrow.

Jackie: Yeah, my problem with bowling is that I am inconsistent. A low average is fine since I only bowl on handicap leagues but in order for the handicap to do any good I need to bowl close to my average (or over it) most of the time and well...um...I DON'T! LOL If I can ever get consistent I'll be happy even if my average stays low. Nice work out today. Any races on your agenda yet?
