Kickboxing

Hi everyone,
I have Cathe's kickboxing workouts, however, I would like to get into more kickboxing, and was wondering if anyone could suggest another kickboxing workout that would be as good as Cathe's (or as close as possible). TIA
Lynn

Hi Barbara,
I have Cardio Kicks, but thanks for the link to powestrike, I will check it out.

Your welcome;-) I don't have powerstrike but heard it is great from other forum. I might order as soon as my credit stops smoking from all the Cathe's I preorder plus I just preorder the high step today:7

Debbie Burns's kickboxing workouts are good too......lower in impact, with lots of upper body punching drills. I have two of her videos CIA 2205 Two Great Workouts In One, and BoxingBody TKO.

If anyone knows of any other Debbie Burns workouts, I would be grateful if you could let me know, please ? Thanks

Anna :)

I just have to chime in here and say that I think Powerstrike is awesome!! It took me a while to order them after hearing so much about them, but they really do rock!! The day after I can feel so much in my back, my neck, my shoulders....borderline TOO much!! I really do feel they are much more thorough in kickboxing, and rightfully so I guess, than any of the Cathe tapes. AND the intensity is right up there and you are hopping much less! Powerstrike 1 and 2 are both awesome and you can probably get them pretty cheap on Ebay. I think you would be happy with that purchase.

Hi Janice,
Thanks, how many workouts are there? Do they workout more the upper body or lower body? Appreciate your help!!

Another thumbs up for Powerstrike. Powerstrike Millenium 1 and 2 are awesome!!!!! 3 was worthless, IMHO.

closest to Cathe

Hi Lynn,

Here's a couple that you might want to check out. I find these two to be the closest in intensity and style to Cathe. Not that you'll find them to be exact by anymeans but similar.

Both are CIA's [http://www.ciavideo.com]

Terry Reeve's Cardio Strike Zone Plus Boot Camp and Sherri Jacquelyn's Fit to Kick.

Terry's has a lot of vertical movement. Love that up/down stuff! If I can remember correctly..it's been awhile, she's got plenty of plyo power and drills in the bootcamp section? I remember being thrilled that it was close to "Cathe tough".

Sherri's might be a notch lower in intensity compared to Terry but it's a pretty good choreographed KB workout. Once again, haven't done this one in ages but I remember some great drills and corework.

Another nod to Powerstrike. If the Millenium series is still available, go with those. IMHO, I liked those two better than the last two workouts.

Happy buying:)

RE: closest to Cathe

Yeah, I second Terri Reeves's CIA workout too. She also has a Guy modifying in the background, if you want less intensity.

Thanks Nancy, I am going to add Fit To Kick to my wants list too. :)

RE: closest to Cathe

Hi,

Iamfirmin could you tell me what the music is like in Aaron lankfords powerkicks? as I am thinking of getting that one.

THANKS

RE: closest to Cathe

HEY HOTCHICK

Aaron Lankfords Powerkicks....
its Techno music ... u no it isnt that bad.... I am sorry BUT NONE OF THE VIDEOS HAVE GREAT MUSIC.. giggling ...
You will be able to keep the beat.... I LUV ALL THE KICKS!

I have noticed many people refer to Powerstrike 3 as too easy and while I definately noticed it felt less challenging than 2 when I first did it, I notice that my heart rate stays more consistant in 3 than 2. I was surprised at first, but if my heart rate monitor shows that I am getting jsut as good a wrkout and if I find it mentally/physically a little easier.....just thought I'd share my hrate results for those of you who may feel like its not a good enough workout. And I also notice that the roundhouse kicks are great for the hips! Enjoy and have a fabulous day!

I initially felt that Powerstrike 3 was less intense that 1 and 2, and it may be. But what I like about it is that there is a more gradual progression of activity, so though you start out easier (working on punch form more), it doesn't stay "easy." I find that the pace of the kicks and punches allow me to work on power and range of motion.

Anna,

Hey, I love CIA's 2205, I haven't done it since last hristmas time. I forgot all about that one. When I read your post, I thought who is Debbie Burns? I should have that one for I have all of the CIA's for the 2200 series.

Then, lo and behold, I remembered and I thought Why haven't I done that one in a while? I am going to get it out and do hers again. I think she is great!

Thanks for reminding me. Sometimes I get so caught up in doing my new tapes I forget about some of my older favorite ones.

Cheryl

Powerstrike is great on the upper and lower body. When I give it my all I am sore everywhere the next day!! My VCR just ate MIL 2, so I had to get it again swap so I got MIL 3 too on DVD. Excited to try them out. We just got a new big screen TV....hubby insisted...65 inches!! Can't wait to do Powerstrike on that one!!!

I have CIA with Terrie and I don't like that one as much as Powerstrike. The real kickboxing feel of Powerstrike really appeals to me. And there is nothing more motivating than Ilaria's body!!!
Janice

Labree..
While both MIL 1 and MIL 2 are excellent, I would say MIL 2 is slightly more lower body than MIL 1 and MIL 1 is slightly more upper than MIL 2.
