Kick Max vs. KPC...I already own Timesaver

So I really want to order either KM or KPC, but I already own the Timesaver DVD. Would KPC be too redundant? I LOVE the kickboxing segment on the Timesaver disc--is what's on there the full aerobic portion of KPC? I also have Muscle Max, so do I really even need the Legs & Glutes workout that is bundled with KPC?

My Timesaver is the ONE Cathe DVD I traded away for another Cathe series! I don't remember what is on there. I think that KM and KPC are different enough to warrant you getting both BUT if I HAD to choose I would go for KPC/L&G. You get awesome cardio premixes and L&G is nothing like MM. You also get great circuit premixes using portions of KPC and L&G. Also, KPC can be easily split up for shorter cardio sessions.

I know you weren't asking about this but if you have the Extreme DVD from the HC series you have my favorite part of KM...the BC leg drills and the standing leg work. The cardio before that is very "easy" compared to other Cathe's but nice for a change of pace. On the Extreme DVD you get my favorite portions of KM, mentioned above, in cardio combinations with Low Max and Imax 3 and I use this cardio DVD a lot!

So, if you can only purchase 1, get KPC/L&G (so many ways to utilize this baby with the premixes) and if you can get 2, purchase HC Extreme also!

I have timesaver, too. It helps me alot to have shorter versions since I have three kids and now a job. I ordered Kick Max 2 weeks ago and LOVE it . It is my new favorite. The blasts are killer and the leg conditioning drills are awesome. I would just order KM. Good luck in deciding!

I totally agree with Angela. I use KPC much more than KickMax, and my favorite part of KickMax is the portion that is included in HC Extreme, so I find myself rarely using KickMax. It just doesn't get my heartrate up for a long enough period of time.

I like that it helped me gauge what sorts of Cathe workouts I can do well--I learned very quickly that I am too klutzy and don't have the space for her step work, but that her kickboxing rocks! :D

I think I will go ahead and order KPC this week, then. I want cardio (I am a runner, but with nasty Winter weather coming I need something I can do as a substitution for a good run. It will help me to work some muscles that don't get as much attention while running, too) and it sounds like KPC will give me a bit more of an aerobic workout than KM will.

Oh I don't know if that's true--Kick Max is some wicked cardio! Frankly it's too tough for me--I can get through it but I don't find it much fun for the very fact that it will take you BEYOND your aerobic threshold LOL. Cardio is kind of a necessary evil from my perspective, & if I don't enjoy it chances are I won't do it.

I do KPC much more b/c it is a fabulous cardio workout but it's also SO much fun. I would recommend it over KM for that reason alone.

You know, that's probably they one I do, just the Kickboxing, because I taped from Fitness TV channel and it lasts about 40 minutes, well not counting the stretching. But the kickboxing is about 40 minutes long and I was wondering why. Now I know.

The Fitness show runs for an 1hr but they fit the commercials into that hour, so I guess they show the timesaver to be able to fit the commercials.

If I remember correctly, (I sold Timesaver) the Timesaver workout has the medium intensity drills and the high intensity drills. You are missing half the workout on KPC - which are three combos and abs. The 3 combos on KPC are more intense than the combos on KM. The KPC combos have jump kicks and none of the pivots that KM has (which I couldn't do on carpet). The music on KPC is far better than KM. And there's a great stability ball ab segment on KPC.

As for having Muscle Max and not needing Legs and Glutes - doesn't Muscle Max have only 14 minutes of lower body work? That's what the Collage Video graph says anyway. Legs and Glutes has a nice variety of exercises, some with weights, some unweighted, inner and outer thigh work, oh and I like the genie move on the high step!

Do you get the feeling I'm leaning towards getting KPC and not KM? ;-) I'm afraid I didn't like KM - the intesity was all condensed in the blast section which was plyo moves and airborne jumps and less focused on kickboxing. The combos were not very intense and the leg drills at the end just bored me.

Another vote for KPC! My order of preference for Cathe kickbox is:

1: Cardio Kicks
2: KPC
3: Kickbox (from CTX)

and bringing up the rear is Kick Max.

Timesaver is a condensed version of KPC. The three combos missing from the Timesaver version are the combos found on KPC. Of course, Timesaver doesn't have the combos from KickMax either, but since KickMax is from a different series, you wouldn't expect them to be there in the first place. :)

Okay, I am going to check the video KPC video clip to see what it is that I don't see on the Fitness TV segment of KPC.

Like I said, they probably used the Timesaver one to be able to fit it in the commercial. Darn commercials!!!!;-) :)
 
Okay, I see what you say. They didn't cut a whole lot from the one I taped from TV though, so it is still a very intense workout.

Hah, see...I bought MM and never actually used it...I rediscovered running shortly after and never got a decent barbell to use with it (I have an adjustable "soft stick" that uses little doughnut weights to increase the weight, but it's a PITA to change the weights up and down on it, so I never use it. I really need to get a basic barbell set).

Looks like KPC/L&G is the DVD for me!

Gah, just when I thought I had my mind made up... ;) So what's on Timesaver is the full kickboxing portion of the KPC workout? If so, then I think I'd be leaning more towards KM, too...

I haven't done it in a long time, but if I remember, the Timesaver contains the full kickboxing section minus the drills. The best part is on the Timesaver, same for Legs and Glutes. The Timesaver has bonus footage and some ab work too.

Ahhh...Ok, that's kind of what I was thinking. Seems like maybe KPC/LG might be redundant, then. And not a cheap redundancy, either. Hmmm...
