Kelly Coffey Meyer - do you like her dvds?

Hi,

I've heard of Kelly Coffey Meyer on this board, and the 2 new dvds coming out soon, 30 min. to fitness kickbox, and bootcamp.

So, how do you like her dvds in general? Would anyone mind sharing some details and opinions on her workouts?

Thanks!

Hi! I have her Cardio-Sculpt Fitness and it's OK. It's a circuit workout, which I like and it definitely gets the heart rate up and fatigues my muscles. But I don't really care for her that much. This is just my opinion as I'm sure there are others that really like her (and hey, whatever works!) but she tends to not cue that well- she goes right into new step movements without any demonstrations. I don't need someone to hold my hand, but a little preview or at least a verbal instruction as to what is coming would be good. But this is only an issue the first few times through the DVD, as now I have it down.

She doesn't tell you much about form either during the weight parts of the workout. But if you can live with that (and I can), I like the DVD. I do use it, I'm just not rushing to go get more of hers at the moment.

HTH.

Kelly Coffey-'Meyers

Hi

I have her cardio-step kick-boxing 2 workout. In this DVD she combines step moves and kick-boxing moves. I really enjoy this DVD. It is fun and intensive. I also own her step kick boxing 1. Step -kick box 1 is good, but in my opinion to short. Her moves are fairly easy to follow and her cueing in these two DVD's is good.

I think she does not cue well. Some of her workouts are better than others and I do them so infrequently I can't say which is which - I think I had real problems with her first step/kickbox combination workout, as I recall I wrote a not-great review on Collage complaining that you can't hear her soft voice, it's as if she's mumbling the cues srtaight down to the step, and the cues are often late, and sometimes she just stops cuing altogether and says something like COME ON, GET TOUGH!. Ugh. I have heard some people defend her by saying that those who are familiar with her classes are familiar with her style and her names for the moves, but HELLO the exercise video market is for people who cannot take her classes and need some explanation of the moves. One of the things to watch out for is her "basic" step move alternates sides every 4 beats, so on the fourth beat you're tapping and then stepping up again with the same foot that just came off the step. It just bugs me and I spend some time every time she comes up in my rotation trying to catch up.

HOWEVER, I really like her workouts themselves - great circuit workouts, challenging but not super-hard, interesting moves. Clearly her heart is in the right place and she is devoted to her craft. If her voice were more audible and her cues were better these would be such great circuit workouts! She has a unique style and even though the cuing thing bugs me I will continue to pull out her workouts sometimes and stuggle along.

I liked her New You Coming workout. I also tried both of her stepboxing workouts and Ready, Step, Go! and I realized I just didn't click with her as an instructor and traded them all away. I might have kept NYC but I really wanted something in a trade so I let it go. I like complex choreography and hers is too basic for me.

I have all but Ready Step Go (it's on its way) and I really enjoy her workouts. Her Step Kickboxing moves at a quicker pace than most people are used to, but after a couple times through I found that I really enjoy the quicker pace. My favorite is probably Cardio Kick Stepboxing. I just have such fun doing the combos. I really like 30 Minutes to Fitness - Weights, and I've preordered her 30 Minutes to Fitness Kickboxing and Boot Camp. Lately if I'm not doing a Cathe w/o, I'm reaching for Kelly. Check out her site or Collage for clips. Everyone clicks with different instructors for different reasons, but I really like Kelly's style.

I don't care for her workouts. I tried a couple; NYC and that step boxing thing. I didn't enjoy her enough to invest in learning how to get it down.

Neither meshed with me so I got rid of them.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, for some reason I had a feeling the vibe would not be so good for her. I think for now I'll allocate those funds elsewhere ;)

I love Kelly's step-boxing w/os. She does move fast but they're lots of fun. I've preordered her new ones. :D

Hmmm, I think I'll wait till the new kickbox comes out and wait for some reviews on the new ones.

I really like her step/stepbox videos. When I heard about her pre-sale this week, I immediately ordered. I think her videos are fun, and I was excited to get some new cardio tapes. She doesn't cue perfectly (who does) but her moves aren't too complex, so you catch on pretty quick.

I have tried a few of her workouts, including her step-kickboxing. I just didn't gel with her. I was also very distracted by one of her background exercisers.

I enjoy her circuit workouts because they have a little bit of everything and aren't too complicated. I don't care for her pure cardio or strength workouts. She doesn't cue well, IMHO, and also it's just too fast for me. The choreo is really not complicated but since the cueing isn't great it's hard for me to keep up.

FYI - If you have Netflix you can try some of her workouts from there first before you purchase.

I didn't care much for your 2nd step kickboxing workout---it felt too fast paced. If you're interesting in getting a great deal on it---just PM message me. :)

I liked her first one & REady STep go. It's nice to have variety. :)

Another huge vote for Kelly from me.

The reasons I like her:

a. Her workout style is unique. For resistance training, if you are used to Cathe, it is very difficult to find instructors to throw into the mix. Kelly is one of the few who work for me. Kelly uses light weights and multiple reps but you dont realize you are using a multi-rep approach because she does different exercises for the same muscle to build a burn. I like variety so the style clicks with me. She is a good complement to Cathe's style. Her step-box cardio is creative, fast and furious without being complex to learn. I dont have the mental energy to learn tricky choreography any more and I am burned out on dancy stuff.

b. The music she chooses has a lot of energy.

c. I like her on-camera personality. She has a beautiful smile and I love the way she nods in time to the music sometimes.

d. She is advanced without being killer tough. I have days or even weeks when my workouts need to not be super-intense, but not too easy either. She fits that spot (another favorite for me for such days is Supersets or Push-Pull from Cathe).

She does not cue a lot, for her cardio or her weight work, but I dont mind that. I feel I have learned form from all my years of working out.

30 Minutes Weights is my favorite Kelly workout so far. There are so many ways to use it. It has a 2 day split of 30 minutes each. In both workouts she has active rests between sets and you can choose cardio/standing abs/floor abs as your option. You can also get a great workout by doing everything on the workout end-to-end. Her standing abs are fun and effective.

I also have NYC and Cardio Kick Step Boxing 2 which I enjoy a lot.

I preordered both the new ones.

I found her style enchanting when I first tried her workouts and I enjoy them more as I repeat them.
