http://www.flylady.net/ ~ the solution to CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome). :7
Anyone else have her book, check her site, and/or follow her advice?
I discovered it through my cousin. At first I thought it was a little goofy, but then I added a few of the housekeeping "Babysteps" into my daily routine and found it actually works like charm.
If the site looks a little overwhelming, go to the [a href="http://flylady.net/pages/begin_babysteps.asp"]Beginner Baby Steps[/a].
Steps can be skipped (like wearing shoes in the house, or having a Control Journal), but tips like
* cleaning out the sink at night before bed,
* getting dressed first thing in the morning, and
* attacking clutter Hot Spots for 2 minutes day
are extremely helpful. They don't seem like much until you DO them. I'm practically giddy when I declutter, skipping to the end of the driveway on garbage day with a bag full of useless crap. I also find so much to donate, which makes me feel good twice (cleaning AND helping someone else!).
I ended up buying the book so I could read it on vacation and while at the park with the kids, but all the info is on her site, so you need not spend the money.
You don't need to compulsively follow every single suggestion either ~ you can pick and choose, making the advice work best for you.
I find the whole fly-thing kinda gross, but what the heck. Marla's (the FlyLady) cheerleading more than makes up for it.
