KCM's Stepboxing--so disappointed!

I've been looking for some more KB workouts b/c step is a bit painful for me w/this awful bunion. So based on all the rave reviews I bought KCM's 30 minutes to fitness Stepbox, which has 2 short workouts on it, & her other stepbox DVD.

Well, I had to do all 3 this morning just to burn 350 cals. Took me over an hour. What a total waste of my time & money. I was really looking forward to them & they did not get my Monday off to a good start. :(

I think I'll stick to Cathe & Tracey when it comes to KB. They have yet to disappoint. :)

I don't like KCM's step boxing either. I don't pay attn to calorie count. I just don't care for her style and the moves were way too fast. I enjoy everything by KCM that isn't any kind of a STEP work out...

Sorry you didn't like it Laura. It's such a bummer when you are excited about a new work out and you end up not enjoying it for any reason. :(

Hello Laura,

Not about KCM (her workouts just don't interest me) but about your bunion surgery. My aunt had a similar surgery last summer 2011 and is FULLY RECOVERED. She has always suffered with her bunions, until they got infected and she begged her doctors to do something (it was so sad, she was in a lot of pain). After several months, and several "specialists" later, they finally opted for surgery. She said it was the greatest decision she ever made and worth the recovery. She is now walking (not waddling) and can wear high heels and strappy sandals again :D. So just hang in there!

Take care :)

Laura, what about her boxing workout (TLC)? The boxing section is easy on the feet. I bought it after I injured my achilles last year, & was running MMA boxing into the ground, for footless cardio. It's obviously not Cathe (no one ever is, IMO), but with weighted gloves (and the music is awesome) it does the job, when my foot flares up.

FWIW, I had the same disappointment from the Stepbox. I've only done it the one time, when I first got it.

I didn't like her first 2 step boxing workouts but I love her newest one. Its easier to follow and I feel like I get a great workout. I'm a KCM fan though so I may be a bit biased. :)

I like TLC a lot as well! :)

Thanks ladies, I'll check them out! The thread on complex step from yesterday just put a major dent in my wallet LOL. Will be trying Marcus Irwin & found that there were still one or two Rebecca Small workouts I don't own yet. Man, that stuff from the UK is not cheap............but I am SO looking forward to getting them! I can't get enough of RS & if MI is just as good, & since he was recommended by Cathe, I figure I can't go wrong w/these two. ;)

Of course all will be modified to low impact, but they're generally much lower impact than Cathe anyway (although I am loving her latest low impact step).

Natty, I had cortisone shots into the bunion last night & my ins. co. surprisingly authorized the bunion orthodics. While the shots hurt like he!!, I've already seen a reduction in the inflammation. I'll get the shots every 2 weeks for 4-6 weeks, then as needed, & I'll have the new orthodics within a month. So, if all goes well, I'll be back in my heels by March! :):):):)

I havent clicked well with any of KCM's kickboxing workout though I love most of her other stuff.

Have you tried Susan Chung's RapidFire Results??
Rapidfire Results with Susan Chung (Rapid Fire)

This is by far my favorite kickbox workout, hands down. For background, I have all of Cathe's, two of Tracey's, most all of the Powerstrikes, and one of Amy Bento's.

Susan Chung's first workout got mediocre reviews and I dont own that one for comparison but this one is excellent!! It also has many great premixes that combine the kb segments in a different order, and one that omits the strength training/metabolic segments. It's got a great ab routine too.

I bought this one maybe a month or so ago, but it's still in the cellophane prison  ...I keep forgetting about it, and I LOVE kickbox. Definitely have to plan a jailbreak on this one, soon.....

Thanks for reminding me :p

This looks good!

I'm not a step fan, but bought KCM step boxing anyway, I couldn't get into it, but I should have known better, I do think there is a premix with weights or something I would still like to try. Maybe I can find something better for me in on of the mixes.

This is my first look at Susan Chungs second workout, and wow this one looks SO much better than the first one. I really like her, but just could not find any enjoyment in her first workout. But the second one looks right up my alley.

I have Chung's first DVD too. I really like it, but I've been having heavy bag issues (keeps falling off the darn bracket) so I haven't done it in a while. Except the core section, which I really like & use pretty often. This one looks too short though. 38 minutes? Will not feed my cardio OCD. ;) Although I could combine it w/other sections of other KB DVDs, I do that pretty often. Like w/Tracey's SZ/CKBC.

Oh, didn't realize the new Susan one is that short. I haven't had as much of a burning desire to buy EVERYTHING I hear about lately, will wait on this one too until those feeling start bubbling up again I guess. I started taking a class at the gym 3 days a week, and that combined with what I have at home (which is plenty :) ) seems to be feeding my need for something new.

I have gone back and forth on buying a bag forever, but now the gym I'm at, I can use the studio with the bags if there is no class, so looking to take advantage of that, but I will definitely need to write down some combos, I'm too used to following, it's hard to do stuff on my own.
