Whoa:eek: ! I only did two workouts, and I am aching in muscles I didn't even know I had. I am doing the lean routine, and I thought it would be o.k. This is the toughest program I have ever done. My husband is really into it too, and he is doing the classic program (and can barely move). I am SO tired right now, and it's only 8:30p.m. Is anyone else here doing this program? If you are, how far along are you?

Hey! I just finished Phase 2, and I'm in my second recovery week! Isn't it fantastic? My SO is doing it too, and he's getting huge (and he's not even doing the rotation, just doing some of the workouts with me). I'm doing the Classic rotation and it's so hard but so much fun!

i just finished the classic rotation and am ready to start again. the best rotation i've ever done.

Hi, I was looking into the Power 90 or P90X...

can you tell me what the Lean routine is or the classic program? I just want to make sure I am purchasing the correct program.

Also, do you use a pull up bar?

Thanks!

Judy

Judy,
There is a book that comes with the whole program. In the book are three workout programs. Classic is a traditional weight workout-you could build size. Lean is another program, and Doubles is yet another (you do this if you are training for an event or sport cause it's really intense). Each program uses the workouts that are included with your purchase, but they use them in a different sequence. I don't think there is a better program out there that will give you 12 well planned, researched workouts for $99! That is a steal. And, I never look at spending $ on exercise DVDs or equipment as a waste cause it is an investment in your body, health and well-being.

Thanks for all the info... I sit here waiting for my P90X tp arrive... of course it will come same day as Cathe's and Amy Bento and Jari Love..... What is a girl to do ???????????

Jen,

Isn't it just FABULOUS?!? I finished my first round (classic) at the end of August, and am getting ready to start another round in the next few weeks. That beyond tired feeling will go away after a few weeks - but those first few weeks are TOUGH! I was going to bed at 8:30 with my kids, and sleeping like a STONE until my alarm woke me up at 4:45am to start it all again. Phase I is hard - you'll be totally wiped out for the full 3 weeks, pretty much! That first recovery week is glorious. It does get easier - I lost the bone tired feeling by Phase II (the workouts are still tough, but you adjust...).

I loved every second of the round - I can't wait to do another!

I just got my P90X yesterday and it looks a little intimidating but I'm anxious to get started. I did order the pullup bar too and that didn't come but I wasn't charged for it either - so not sure what that's about. I hesitated to re-order from this company because I had so much trouble returing a Power 90 DVD last year. Is the pullup bar mandatory for this program - and where did you install it?

I did a full Classics rotation when P90X first came out. (I looked at the other two, but 'lean' seemed to skimp in one body part every week and didn't look as complete as the Classic).

I well recall the fatigue of the first two weeks. I ended up sleeping an extra hour quite a few nights or (and!) taking a mid-afternoon nap!

Hi Jen! I've done P90X rotations 3x through (Classic). It brought me the most strength but had I NOT done Cathe's weight work I never would've been able to do this program. I only do P90X now. I've gone beyond Cathe's weight work which is strictly endurance. However, for cardio I still do Cathe & other instructors for variety. I also attended during the summer a Phat Camp in NY & had the privilege of meeting Jen Hendershott (Ms. Olympia 2005). Bought her handbook & besides doing P90X I also incorporate 2 exercises per body part from the handbook. For variety w/abs, I use Tracey Staehle's Core Conditioning & Strength. Just remember to keep challenging yourself. That's the beauty of the journal. You know what you did the week before & how many more reps to shoot for. Its a great program.

Good luck! You won't regret it at all! Kathy:D

I'm in the first week of the 3rd phase. I'm doing the doubles rotation. I've completed a classic rotation before, but this time, I had tons of energy in phase 1. My energy dropped alot in phase 2 and now In phase 3, my energy is starting out very high. The first time I completed a rotation, I think I was more tired in phase 1, and I remember being pleasantly sore all the way thru phase 1 and 2.

If you are so sore you can't move and are uncomfortable. Just do half of the workout for a week or so. Like, don't repeat the second rounds. You should still get results.

It's a tough program, but worth every minute of it. It really works wonders. It also teaches you alot and will help you use your other workouts more wisely.

KathyH - Can you tell me a little bit about Tracey's workouts? I was just checking them out on advancedworkouts.com and they seem very interesting! They also have a discount if you order all three and you get free shipping.

Jen - You will have so much fun with P90X and the results are amazing!! Good luck and hang in there - the energy will return! Also, if you are following the nutrition program that goes with that rotation, you might need to increase your carbs just a teeny bit to get your energy levels up. Just my opinion - take it or leave it! ;)

WOW!!! Kathy, you went to a Phat Camp?!? I'm totally green with envy. I just read about them in last month's Oxygen mag, and would LOVE to attend one day. Sounds like it was well worth it? I love all of the articles I've read in 02 about Jen - she seems (and looks!) amazing. Do you know if her handbook is available somewhere?

I need more details!!!! Please? :)

Hi Jen:

I'm almost done with my 3rd week of Phase 1 of P90X. I have to say that Cathe's workouts have made it so P90X was definitely challenging, but not to the point of excess. My first week I was super sore (in a good way), especially my back, but I pushed through all the workouts anyway. So, after the first week it does get better. This was my 3rd time to do Yoga X and I almost cried because I finally was able to do all 90 minutes of it in a fairly decent manner. That is so hard!! I have a Door Gym for pullups, but decided to use my Bowflex for pullups until I became stronger. Good Luck!

I am on my third week of P90x. I am doing the classic rotation. I don't have a pull up bar I am using the bands. This should have been my rest week but I was sick last week. So I started Sunday as this was week 3. For this coming week 4 I am going to add in the new Cathes.

Steph

I'm on my 10th week and I love P90x! I recall I was fairly fatigued during the first few weeks, but I increased my carb intake and felt much better. I have more muscle definition now than ever before and I feel so much stronger. I am so glad I discovered P90x! It's such a great program.

Ok, you all are making me very excited!!!! I just received P90X today, but unfortunately can't open it until Tuesday
(DH's orders x( ). I am looking forward to see what everybody is talking about!!!

Wow-thanks for all the support. I am very tired again right now, and I have to do Ab Ribber X before bedx( . My goal is to be in bed by 8:30 so I can watch The Office. By the way, doesn't Tony Horton remind you of the character Michael Scott from the Office? He is goofy just like Michael:) . Did anyone who did the Lean routine see results?
-Jen

Just wanted to mention that I mix Ab Ripper with Cathe abs workouts for the 3 ab days on P90x. Ab Ripper is great, but sometimes it's a bit straining on my back with some of the moves. I love Cathe's abs from MuscleMax and some others, so I've been mixed that up. My abs are already pretty defined, so I figure I'm ok doing that.

As for Tony, I find him very endearing, although I know alot of people think he's annoying.

I will be receiving my DVD's on Wednesday. I'm very excited to start a rotation. I'm also getting my Cathe DVD's next week also. It will take a while for previewing, so don't know when I will start a rotation.
