Jogglers October!!!

Hey Jogglers!

Run was good last night - about 4 miles and not even stiffness in the heel this morning. :) Did some core work too. The boys worked out with me - it was fun.

Spin tonight.

Tricia - hope you are aren't coming down with anything major. We have a neti pot we never use - you can borrow it. :)

Alisha - Thanks for the kind words. Since you like to hear about it - I made some Thai curry squash soup last night for Pete. It was yummy. Roasted squash, onion, serrano chili, curry paste, coconut milk, veg broth, ginger, cilantro, garlic. Delicious!

Jane - praying your mom's test results come back good!

Lisa - What's a Stock Dog Trial? Sorry about your friend.

I went for a joggle this morning. It was quite cold for us, 41 degrees. I had to wear a hoody.

Cindi- Sounds like good eats at your house.

Lisa - How was yours and your mom's ride today? I'll bet that was nice! Wish I could do more with my mom, but she's too far away.

Cindi - So glad about your run! Yay! Keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way! I picked up a Neti Pot today and did my first treatment when I got home from work. Interesting. I did read on Web MD that the research is sound on these things, so I'm hoping for a miracle! Between that and my Claritin D anyway!

Thai Curry Squash sounds amazing! I'm feeling sorry for myself tonight because I wanted soup and don't have any made (hate canned now) and I didn't want to cook, but didn't want to wait for delivery either! I get this way when I'm miserable! LOL!

Alisha - Brrr! That's us from about November until May! Hoodies, earmuffs, turtlenecks (2 shirts), etc.!

Hi Jane!

My face hurts today. Wish I could just peel it off and feel better! The sinus pressure is killing me! I'm all loaded up with drugs now, so I should start feeling better soon! I'm just sleeping in and taking it easy up until race day. It's just going to have to do!

Tricia - hoping the meds work fast!!!

The soup was really good. We got a lot of squash from the CSA and I was making a simpler version with just squash, onion, broth, salt, pepper and sweet curry. This new recipe has some heat and more complex flavor. It would be great with shrimp tossed in but I didn't have any. I have one more batch of squash to make into soup - no more CSA for the year. :(

Last night was spin class. FUN! Tonight is Bob Harper's Strength workout.

mmm shrimp mmmm :) I think we need a smiley that is licking her lips.

Tricia- I hope you feel better soon! I have heard good things about the neti pot, I might get one myself. I am constantly blowing my nose, I'm sure its pollen, thats what I get for living in the country.

I am planning on a yoga session mid morning and a late afternoon Cathe workout. I don't know which step workout. Maybe step fit.

Lisa- I hope you had a good ride with your Mom and it didn't rain.

Jane- I hope things are good with your Mom.

Good Afternoon!

I took a rest day yesterday. Here is my workout for this evening. We are back up into the 90's today.

then

We got good news yesterday...mom is done with chemo! Yay!! We are very HAPPY! Mom will be able to come to my 1/2 marathon on the 13th. She is really looking forward to it. Now she just has follow up appointments every 3 months.

Tricia ~ I hope you feel better soon! I hate that sinus stuff. I never had problems with it until I moved down here.

Lisa ~ Hope you had fun riding with your mom.

Hi Cindi and Alisha!

Hi ladies,
I did AOS Providence this morning. Mom and I also did the warm-up, one chapter and cool-down of Ellen Barrett's Slim Sculpt. I wanted Mom to fall in love with Ellen but she didn't. Mom hated Leandro - I don't blame her. He bugs the heck out of me, I just keep him for what he does for my thighs.

Our horseback ride was lots of fun even though we did get rained on. My mom got me started riding when I was little and we rode together for many years so it was nice.

Cindi - A stock dog trial is a trial where dogs work sheep or cattle around a course. They go gather the animals and then work them through a series of gates, into a pen and then separate one or more animals from the group and control them. My mom's dogs work cattle at home but she trains them on sheep as well. Mom doesn't compete anymore but she does like to spectate and volunteer. She frequently scribes for the judge. I got to help her and that was very interesting - I learned a lot listening to the judge during each run.

Jane - Yay!! So happy for you and your mom!!

Tricia - I hope you are feeling better!

Alisha - We got very wet but still had fun. Mom's a real trooper.

Lisa

Hi Ladies!

Cindi - Always a bummer when all the fresh fruit/veggies are done for the year! What a beautiful blanket and baby! You should be proud to share that!

Alisha - I hope you decided on a workout before you decided to quit! LOL! I do that sometimes when it takes me too long to decide!

Jane - I can't express how happy and excited I am for your mom! It's the best news ever! My allergies cropped up when we were living in NH, but GA is the worst for it! So far, I'm liking the neti pot! Just after last night, I'm not blowing so much and I've been able to breathe today! Still have a major headache going on and some congestion, but the Claritin D ought to take care of that!

Lisa - Good for you on AOS and working out with your mom!

As most of you know already, my mom broke her left kneecap in two. Yep. Fell on it Friday night! What a klutz! Like mother, like daughter! I'm trying really hard NOT to be like her in that respect! LOL! She's in really good spirits at least! Happy that she doesn't need surgery, but she's in a brace and cannot bend her leg for 12 weeks! I know that's going to drive her absolutely bonkers!

Putting my babies in the kennel tomorrow. :( :( :( I hate doing that! At least it's not for long! Hey, Lisa! Want to come up and puppy sit?

TGIF!!

I took a rest day yesterday. Today I'm going to do a short kettlebell workout. I have a 10.2K race tomorrow morning in the middle of nowhere. It's the Chicken Pie Festival!! There was no one in my age group that participated last year, so hopefully I'll place in my age group.

Tricia - Good luck at your race this weekend! I will be cheering you on. You are going to ROCK it! Hope your sinuses are better. This area is the sinus/allergy capital of the world. Folks down here call it "the crud". Sorry to hear about your mom. That must be so painful. I hope she recovers quickly.

Hi to the rest of the gang!

Hope everyone has a great Friday!

Jogglers: The Mom's Edition

I was so lazy yesterday. I did not do my MMA workout. I am going for a joggle this morning though, so maybe that will make up for it. I am planning on Step Works tomorrow or an Imax.

Jane- I like chicken pie. That sounds like a good post run meal. I am so happy for your Mom!!! What wonderful news!!!!!

Tricia- Good luck with your race. I am so sorry about your Mom's knee. ugg, that sounds really painful.

Lisa- Your Mom sounds like a really neat person.

Cindi- What a beautiful blanket!

Hi ladies from wonderful Germantown, MD! We're hanging out at my friend's house right now lovingly called, "The Squanderosa!"

Lisa - You'd love it here! She has not 1, not 3, but 7 dogs! From tall to short - Budreau, a hound of some sort who is almost as big as a Great Dane, Shadow, a lab, Ralph, a Chow mix?, Sunny, a very poofy dog, then there are the 3 Dachshunds, Virgil, Frank and Niki! Whew! I think that's all of them! They are so cute!

Jane - Hope you have a great workout today. Good luck in your race tomorrow! Is it still summer down there? We finally hit late fall - 50s, at least in RI. It's barely 60 here right now, but should be around 65-68 on Sunday. Perfect running weather!

Alisha - I can relate to lazy these days! I can't wait to be back and working out with Cathe again - at least for one week, then it's Insanity for 2 months. I'll keep you all posted on how that is going!

Hello Cindi and Lisa! Hope you are all enjoying a beautiful day!

Tricia - hope you mom heals quickly.
Lisa - enjoy your pups. (I know you will).
Alisha - hi!!

Two rest days in a row - unexpected band concert last night, running errands tonight. Will run tomorrow and do weights and Sunday will do some Bob Harper Cardio and try out his new Kettlebell workout. My target finally had his K'bells today.

Good morning everyone! Probably my only time to check in today!

Jane - Have a great race today!

Lisa - I'll bet the kiddos had a lot of fun on your walk!

Cindi - Have a great weekend and enjoy your workouts!

Going to the National Mall today for the rallies today (The Rally to Restore Sanity/The March to Keep Fear Alive), then a little sightseeing before the carb up dinner at 6 p.m.!

Probably won't have time to check in tomorrow until after the race, which won't be until late in the afternoon by the time Stephen finishes! Oh, wait! I just remembered, I have the Cathe app! I'll try to check in from the race!

Have a terrific day everyone!

Hi Everyone!

I had fun at the Chicken Pie Race today. Brrr....it was a chilly 45 degrees at race time. Some people had the clothes piled on but sis and I had on shorts and short sleeved shirts.

(read in a southern drawl) We definitely were in the country, ya'll. I heard a bunch of roosters, a cow and my sister saw horses. It was a gorgeous morning. I loved seeing the mist rise off a small pond and crystal blue skies. I ran the majority of the race by myself but I finished strong and felt good all the way through. Since this was a 10.2K, I set a PR!! I also took 2nd place in my age group!!

Tricia ~ Have fun at the rally. I will be thinking of you tomorrow morning.

Cindi ~ Let me know how you like the kettlebell workout.

Lisa ~ Nice 4 miler with the pups!

Alisha ~ I didn't see any chicken pie. Only yukky fried stuff. I guess they were serving the chicken pie later.
