Jogglers May 2013

Jane- Congrats on the race! I am sorry that your sister doesn't have the maturity to be respectful and supportive. That stinks. Thanks for the support and the praise for my maturity. I really do appreciate it. It can be hard to feel like I did the right thing but I have heard from so many (both those involved and those not involved.) that I have done exactly that: the right thing.

Tricia- Did you have a good day?

I worked this morning. I will get my workout this afternoon. Its too warm to run outside so I will do Jillian's No More Trouble Zones plus a Lunar yoga segment. Tomorrow will be a Cathe step workout, Friday is a jog/walk, and Saturday will be kick boxing.

Alisha

Happy May Day! I think!

I realized just now that I hadn't checked in in a couple of days. I've been selfishly whiny this week a bit.

Alisha - Glad you broke away from your book club and you did it so well! I'll have to remember that line in case I ever need it in the future! I would gladly give up my office job for an outside one right now! It's too pretty out to be cooped up inside.

Jane - Was so proud of you on your 100th race! Nice work!

It has actually been a busier wee at work so far. Haven't worked out at all. I'll let you know when that changes! lol Not much else exciting going on here. We're having nice weather this week. Not 70s or 80s, but I'll take mid-60s and sunny! At least it's not raw and raining! Still haven't planted my garden! I have to get on that this weekend and get it done.

Alisha - We could start a two-person (or three if Jane wants to join in) book club here! I love to read!

Have a great night you two!

Happy Thursday!

Yesterday I ran 4 miles in the drizzling rain. It was actually nice...humid but a bit cool and no sun. I am taking a rest day today as I have a 5K race tomorrow evening. Yes...it's the annual Gnat Days 5K. They are predicting rain again but it has been spotty so I'm hoping we can get it in. This will be my 6th time running it and I think I might be able to PR the course. It's relatively flat except for a slight rise at the end.

Alisha ~ Yes, it's sad about my sister. She has been better though but she has not seen my mom in over 2 years but that's her problem not mine.

It looks like you have some good workouts planned in the next couple of days. Good job!!

Tricia ~ I have a feeling we are going to have a rainy summer. I remember one summer it rained every single day. I don't really care about the rain as long as I get my workouts/runs/races in. The temperature will be lower for sure and that will be nice for the electric bills.

Goodreads has some online book groups. My sister belongs to the mystery one. I read all the time.

Lunch break is over. Have a great evening!

Jane - Woo-Hoo for the Gnat 5K! lol Gotta love it! Hope you don't get too much rain tomorrow night! Good luck on getting that PR!

The rain will keep it cooler for you, but I hope we have a nice sunny summer so we can sail! Stephen would sail in the rain, but I would prefer to get comfortable with it first before doing all that!

Hope your work day went by fast!

One more day to the weekend! Yay!

Hi Alisha!

Switcheroo- I'm doing a Cathe DVD today and I will joggle tomorrow. Mom wasn't feeling well last night, I thought we were going out and I wanted to get that early morning joggle before we drove to San Francisco. But, we may do that tomorrow. We want to go to the De Young to see the Rembrandts.

Tricia- You are more than welcome to come work with me but the commute would be a bear! Sailing sounds like fun. The other day my Dad and I were driving by the lake and saw some guys out there canoeing, it looked like a lot of fun. We might do that this year.

We could start a book club. I don't have anything that I'm reading right now. I have to find my next series. I need them for when I have insomnia.

Jane- Have fun at the Gnat 5k. I need to start training for races. I just haven't found a spot that isn't super hilly, I end up having to walk part of it. I will check out Goodreads.

Alisha

The rain has stopped so it looks like we will get the race in. It's not until 7pm but rain is not expected until the wee hours of the morning (at least that is what the weather channel says). I'm leaving work at 4 so I can change and eat and all that stuff.

Alisha ~ You should train on the hills it would make you stronger. There is no shame in walking hills. Last week's race had at least 5 hills and I walked a couple of them. The last one I had to run because they call it "Heartbreak Hill" and they have a DJ there and he encourages you to run up the hill so you have to run it or else he will call you out. Of course once I got up the hill I slowed to a walk because I was dying.

Hi Tricia!

Evening ladies! So glad to have made it through today!

Alisha - I wish I could go work with you! I'd do anything! Carry your bags, go get lunch, etc. lol Someone needs to invent transporters and do it like NOW!

Jane's right. Train on those hills! Everything else will be so much easier and you'll get stronger and faster!

We could have our own little book group. Watch us not like to read the same kinds of books! Ha, that would be funny! I'm on Goodreads! Let me know if you want to start something!

Jane - Hope you had a good race tonight!

Saturday evening and it's chilly out! Brrr!

Didn't do much today. Went to Home Depot for a new bigger pot for my basil and just to see if they had any lavender plants. Lo and behold! They did! Got 3 medium pots a big bag of organic soil, 2 lavender plants, one mint plant and I saw stevia and got one of those too! Found out that lavender needs good drainage, so ended up putting those in 2 of my new pots and mint in the other and planted the stevia in my trellis boxes instead of the lavender. So, I still need one more pot for my basil! lol

Very excited about the lavender! I hope it takes well! I can use that to infuse oils for making face creams, infused oils, etc. Yes, I'm learning to make my own skin, hair and body care. Not sure how I'll use the stevia, but it'll be a nice experiment anyway. Everyone can always use mint! I hear it grows like a weed! Hope it'll produce enough! I love mint!

I still need to get out with my camera tomorrow. I was going to try and get out there today, but didn't make it. We shall see what happens tomorrow!

Have a great night you two!

Again, I thought I posted yesterday. Ok. I did a jog/walk in the AM. Then we went to see Iron Man, it was great. This morning was a rest day. I had to do grocery shopping. I was good I did not buy myself any junk food. I did buy a ton of fresh veggies/fruit, chicken (unsalted), eggs.

It looks like the forecast is a little cooler, in the 80s not in the 90s for the next ten days. I think I will go for a joggle tomorrow morning before I go to work.

Jane- I will definitely train on my hills. I think that I am much more fit than I would have been without them. I would probably run faster if a dj was calling me out:eek: I hope the race went well.

Tricia- You could totally be my transporter-helper!! You just have to hold the other end of the tape measure, be sure to wear sunscreen, and its a very chill job. I always bring my own lunch- so it is raw friendly:) Your garden sounds fragrant and delicious. Stevia is excellent in iced tea or lemonade. I bet you could make a delicious raw mint pie or pudding.

Alisha - I heard Iron Man 3 was awesome! I'll be waiting for it to come on DVD or digital! Good for you not picking up any treats or junk at the store! I wish they wouldn't put the bakery right by the produce section though!

I'll keep that job in mind should we end up moving your way in a few years! Thanks for the ideas for the mint and stevia!

Hi Jane!

switcheroo

Its raining and pouring, so I'm not running today. Maybe tomorrow. Today is an intense yoga session with Shiva Rea. I have to go make a lunch to take with me to work.

Tricia- I wish they wouldn't put the bakery by the produce too.

Jane- How was the weekend?

Alisha

Happy Monday!

Friday's night race went well. It was a smaller group than last year due to the weather. It didn't rain but it was cool. Usually that race is hot, humid and full of gnats. This year they wasn't a gnat to be found. I ended up doing well and get a new course PR. I may have set a new 5K PR but if I did it was only by a few seconds. I'll have to wait for the results to come out. I did take 1st place in my age group.

Saturday morning I did the following workout:
3 Rounds
100 Jump Rope
40 Push ups
30 Sit ups
20 Heavy Swings
10 Squat Thrust to double kettlebell DL
Then farmers walk around the block alternating with sister with 2-25# kettlebells

Sunday was a 8.5 mile run. It was in the low 50's which is crazy for this time of year.

Tonight will be a squat workout.

Tricia ~ Let me know how you lavender works out. My mom used to grow mint back in Illinois. It does grow like a weed. We had tons!

Alisha ~ Poo on the rain. I'm glad you have an alternate workout. The bakery in our store is actually in a little section my itself so I just blow right by it!

Alisha - Sorry you got rained out on the run! Enjoy your yoga!

Jane - Great going on the 5K! Glad the weather was nice! That'll be ending really soon for you down there :(

Still just hanging out after work. I keep trying to get up in the mornings because I know I'll be lazy at the end of the day. That's not working yet either. We shall keep at it until something takes!

I keep hearing mint will grow lots. I'm hoping so! Keeping my fingers crossed that the lavender takes well, too.

Other than that, not much going on. Waiting for Stephen to get home to eat. I'm tired. Probably wouldn't be so tired if I'd get a workout in!

Have a great night you two!

Its raining some more. I forgot I left my new mattress cover outside to air out, its soaked. I put a tarp over it, I hope that it dries out. Dang it. Normally, I love the rain. Its awesome, smells nice outside, cools us down, but I wish I had remembered:eek:

I'm doing Liquid Grooves with Petra Kolber (Tai Chi). I will workout tomorrow.

I have to take my brother to the dentist today. I will get a juice at the co-op. I love those. So yummy, especially the green hornet which is a local joke because my old Alma Mater's mascot is the Hornet. Its full of kale, spinach, green apples, carrots, and ginger. Its so tasty.

Tricia- I agree that you wouldn't feel so tired if you got a workout in. What about just one of the HIITs? Low impact? Would that do it? Or 25 min. of yoga? That clears the cobwebs for me.

Jane- Congrats on 1st place in your age group!! Great job with your other workouts!!

Speaking of bakeries, I discovered a new one (new to me) close to my job and they bake everything fresh, no dough conditioners. I was able to buy a day old loaf of bread for 1 dollar and I made cheesy toast for dinner last night. Its much better if I do cook, because then my brother will eat that instead of eating junk food. He doesn't cook much himself, but if I do cook , he would eat that, so I try to do it as often as I can. I topped it with real butter and oregano/basil.

Good Morning!

I took a rest day yesterday.

Today will be a 4 mile run. It's still cool in the mornings but we will be in the 80's today.

Alisha ~ I hope the dentist went will for your brother. That cheesy toast sounds really, really good! :) I hope your mattress cover dries out.

Tricia ~ There are so many times that I feel tired at night and don't want to workout but I just come home and put my clothes on and go. Once I get started I feel good. Pull out your kettlebells and do some swings. That will get the blood going. Even if you do something for 15-20 minutes it will be better than nothing.

Have a great day!

Morning gals!

Hump Day! Yay!

Alisha - Sorry about your cover! I'm sure it will dry out, but I hope it stops raining long enough! Nothing like a musty blanket or mattress cover! Ugh!

Hope your brother made out okay at the dentist! There are tons of bakeries around here. Glad I never set foot in any of them! That would be trouble!

Jane - Hope you had a nice run this morning!

We're supposed to start getting some rain today. That'll be good for my plants!

Well, time to get ready to head out for work. Have a great day today!

Tricia- I try not to go in bakeries too often.

It rained again. I expect the mattress cover will dry out if it stops raining.

Jane- Did you enjoy your run?

I was real glad I worked out in the morning before I went out because the dentist had several emergency patients and that pushed my brother's appointment two hours. Then we drove to see my Dad and give him his meds (he forgot them) and we had dinner at Black Bear Diner. I split a reasonable dinner with my Dad, we had some shrimp, tri tip, green beans, and a baked potato. Often neither one of us wants a whole meal. Splitting one is easy.

I have my normal dental cleaning this morning at 10, I will stop at the co-op before I go home. I love their juices. I have a business meeting tonight. I plan to workout and eat at home before I go.

Alisha - Yikes at all the rain! Wow! I would have hated sitting in a dentist's office for that long! Much less having to go twice even if it was only once for me! I hate dentists!

Hope you got a yummy juice and your had a good meeting!

Nothing new or exciting with me. Stephen was home when I got home tonight. That was nice. He gave his students their final today. Now he just has to finish one last project for his final class and he'll be done with this semester, then he can start studying for his last comprehensive exam, prep for a conference in Chicago that's next weekend. He's presenting a paper, then we have his mother's visit (ugh), then he takes his exam. Whew! Then, we wait for his score and, hopefully, he'll pass on go #1!

Hi Jane!

I'm doing my Tantric Toning workout today. I need to do a meditation this morning and then pack a lunch for work. Tomorrow will be a belly dance DVD.

Tricia- I hope that Stephen passes his exam on the first try. I hope his Mom isn't too annoying. I don't love going to the dentist either. I have known him since I was 11 years old, but he is getting clumsy. I think its time for him to retire, he actually hurt me for the first time yesterday cleaning my teeth. Its too bad, I have known him for so long. I guess everybody gets old eventually.

Jane- Hi!

Alisha

Good Afternoon,

Here is tonight's workout:

3 Rounds

20 swings
15 mountain climbers
10 thrusters
10 upright rows
15 ball slams
10 push ups
20 presses
15 squat thrusts
10 jumping pull ups

Alisha ~ I'm not a fan of going to the dentist either. They have a hygienist that cleans your teeth. The doctor comes in for 2 seconds to check your teeth. My hygienist is quite the talker. I'm usually there for a hour.

I LOVE bakeries!!!:)

Tricia ~ I hope Stephen passes his test on the first try. If he passes, is he done for good? Does he start looking for a teaching job then?

Not much going on today. I had to take mom to a doctor's appt this morning so I got to work late. Then I spent the rest of the morning proofing a document. My boss told me that it was dry. I hated to tell him that most engineering documents are dry to me. Boring...it was 70 pages but luckily there were some blank pages in there and others that I didn't need to proof.
