Jogglers Feb. 2011

Looks sunny! We had hail yesterday and some snow. I am waiting until later in the afternoon to go out. I did Step Max instead of Drill Max yesterday. I wanted a longer calorie burn. The thing with these step workouts is just when you think you selected a lower intensity one she throws in those plyos. I often use the lower impact version. I'm looking at next week and we are going to have a lot of rain so I'm planning mostly indoor workouts. I think I will only get two jog days.

Tricia-I try to do the morning thing more often because its supposed to improve one's fat burning.

Jane-I love it when the sun sneaks out in the afternoon.

Hi ladies,

I did a short, short workout today ~ some abs and upper body work. The workout last night was a smoker and tomorrow is a long run. I also did some yard work today and washed the kitchen floor.

Hope everyone is a having a great weekend!

Alisha - I'm glad you didn't get snow, but hail? Really? Wow!

LOL! I know what you mean about Cathe surprising you in her workouts! You think you picked one where she'll take it easy on you and, then bammo, she throws you for a loop and you get a heck of a workout! I hope you guys don't get flooded next week!

Jane - I think I'm going to wait until I start STS to try doing mornings again. It's tough to get up when it's really cold! Not ready for that yet! lol Good going on your workouts and I hope your long run goes well!

I've been having another tough week. I've totally taken my rest week as complete rest. I haven't done a single workout. At least I haven't pigged out this time! Start Phase III of P90X on Monday, so I know I'll get back on it! I'm not going to slack on this one! 4 more weeks!

We're supposed to start getting snow tonight and into tomorrow morning - around 1-3". I really hope not, but even if we do, I think it'll melt by the afternoon since the temp should be well above freezing.

Have a great night! Hello Cindi and Lisa!

Hi ladies!

Tricia - as a dear friend says, I'll light a candle for Stephen! Nothing wrong with a rest week.

Hi Jane and Alisha.

This week I did STS Full Body, Providence, and two Ellen Workout's. Now I'm in Hatteras and riding. I found a place that I hope will be my new walking/running/doggling area. I'm going to check it out Monday or Tuesday.

Lisa

Lisa- I love finding new places to run.

Jane-We live at the top of a very steep hill, we are lucky in that we never get flooded although our neighbors at the bottom of the hill sometimes do because there is a stream in their backyard.

Tricia- Sometimes you just need a rest and there is nothing wrong with that.

Today is a rest day. I did go for a joggle yesterday. I'm in week 5 of C25k and I finally ran most of those hills (really slow, high turnover.) I was so proud of myself:D My goal is to get to being able to run the whole neighborhood without walking. It looks like I'm only going to get two run days next week. Rain, rain seems to be coming my way.

Alisha

I had my long run of 12.8 miles this morning. We are 2 weeks out to the 1/2 marathon. It was a foggy morning but warm at 60 degrees with 98% humidity. About halfway through the run we saw a red fox.

Alisha ~ My neighbor's backyard floods too due to a gully or something at the back of her lot. For some reason she thought that once that road was put in that it wouldn't flood. She told me that an engineer told her that. He must be some engineer because I knew it wouldn't take care of the problem. Our yard holds water because there are low spots but it doesn't flood like hers does.

Tricia ~ Sometimes we need a complete rest week. Good job on not pigging out though. I couldn't get up early when it's cold either. I hope you don't have snow.

Hi Lisa!

Jane- We don't have too many foxes here, I think I have only seen one.

I did a long hike, 3 miles this morning, it seems like a short distance but thats 7 hills. I'm fond of making up rotations but I often forget what I wrote:p So, I'm leaning towards Athletic Step for tomorrow.

Hi Ladies!

Lisa - Hey there! I'm glad you found a place to take runs and doggles! I hope it pans out for you when you go check it out! I'll bet you were glad to get some riding in, too!

Alisha - Congratulations on hitting those hills! Slow is good! At least you did it! That is quite some progress!

Jane - I hope the weather is great for your half marathon! We did get snow Sunday - 3". Not to bad. We had rain today which made it pretty slippery, so I had to be careful! All the snow still isn't gone yet! This is the part I hate where the temps jump up and down and we get rain on the warm days, making them not quite that warm, and on the sunny days it's colder! Can't wait for summer! lol

It felt fantastic to get a workout in today! I did Chest & Back and Ab Ripper X. My right wrist was bothering me, so I ended up having to tape it. Darn that tendonitis! I can't believe it was hurting when I didn't do anything for a week! It tends to get tweaky at times just picking up a file the wrong way at work.

So glad to be back on the workout wagon!

Alisha ~ Good job on the hiking. Doing hills - walking or running is hard work.

Hi Lisa!!

Hi there,
Last night we checked out the local state forest. It was pretty. It isn't a particularly safe place I don't think but it is going to be our new walk/joggle option. I did Bum Bum last night and Upper Body Blast from Supersets this morning - I do love the upper body from that workout.

Jane - woo hoo! Nice run. Everything sounds lovely except the humidity.

Tricia - Glad you are feeling better. It sucks to be tweaky.

Alisha - How do you like C25K? How is it structured?

Lisa

I have Step Moves on tap for later.

C25k is structured with three workouts per week. Each workout is less than 30 min. in the beginning there are walk/run intervals. I was trying to use it to force myself to actually run these challenging hills but also my heart was tired at the beginning of this year so it seemed a little gentler than just forcing myself to do it without the walk breaks. I got this off of Cool Running. You have a 5 min. warm up and a 5 min. cool down. There are free podcasts with that built into the program, Robert Ullrey is my favorite.

R=run W=walk sec=seconds

Wk 1: (R: 60 sec. W: 90 sec.) repeat up to 20 min. total

wk 2: (R: 90 sec. W: 2 min.) repeat up to 20 min. total

Wk 3: (R: 90 sec. W: 90 sec. R: 3 min. W: 3 min.) repeat 2x

Wk 4: R: 3 min. W: 90 sec. R: 5 min. W: 2.5 min. R: 3 min. W: 90 sec R: 5 min.

Wk 5: this week has 3 different workouts:
Workout 1: R: 5 min. W 3 min. R: 5 min. W 3 min. R: 5 min.
Workout 2: R: 8 min. W 5 min. R: 8 min.
Workout 3: R: 20 min. (no walking.)

Wk 6: this week has 3 different workouts:
Workout 1: R: 5 min. W: 3 min. R: 8 min. W: 3 min. R: 5 min.
Workout 2: R: 10 min. W: 3 min. R: 10 min.
Workout 3: R: 25 min. (no walking.)

Wk 7: Jog 25 min.

Wk 8: Jog 28 min.

Wk 9: Jog 30 min. (or 3 miles.)

Tricia- the one good thing about snow is that you can put your ice cream outside in a drift.

Lisa- It sounds like you have a great new place to jog/walk.

Jane- Your workouts are always impressive.

Alisha
