Jogglers August 2010 (aka New Runners)

Hi ladies,
Yesterday was a long day for me. I went to work and then had a home consult that lasted until 9. Tonight its puppy class. This morning I did PLB (weights only) and added on H&T standing band work instead of the floor work. My right knee felt tweaky so I only did the up portion for lunges.

Cindi - What the trainer said sounds weird to me too but glad you enjoyed the class. I love my puppies too. It's fun to get to work with so many different dogs.

Alisha - Glad you are feeling better! And glad that my pups crack you up because I do tend to talk about them a lot

Tricia - Do you know what the cause of Milo's seizures is? Once a month seems like a lot.

Jane - I'm glad your mom's chemo went well! How did the shot go? I give lots of critters shots but I think it would be harder to give a person a shot. My patented "thump-thump-jab" horse vacc technique probably wouldn't work too well on a person.

Lisa

Good Morning Jogglers!!

I am taking a rest day today. I have a 10.5K race tomorrow morning.

Cindi ~ I gave mom her shot last night and all went well. One of my sisters was reading the instructions and the other sister was assisting me. My mom said it just felt like a pin prick. Now we are on watch to see if she will have a reaction to it like she did last time. The actual chemo is nothing really. Mom just has fatigue but the shot is the worst part. At least she can take pain killers. She said last time the pain lasted about 7 hours but she went through it without pain killers.

Alisha ~ I'm glad you're feeling better.

Lisa ~ How did puppy class go last night?

Hi Tricia!

I went for a jog/walk this morning. Its not as hot. I expect to go to a training seminar tomorrow that my Dad is putting on. I will probably get up early and do a step workout tomorrow.

Jane- Good luck with your race.

Tricia- How is Milo doing?

Lisa- Its ok to talk about your pups.

Cindi- Hi! I am definitely feeling better.

Hi ladies,
I haven't worked out yet today. I'm going to take the pups for a walk/run/joggle this afternoon then try to go home and workout. I haven't been sleeping well and I think it's starting to catch up with me so my goal is to get to bed earlier and wake up without pushing snooze a million times in the morning.

Alisha - I've actually told people on FB to go ahead and unfriend me if they don't like seeing/hearing about the dogs and the horse constantly. It's what I do :D

Jane - I'm glad the shot went well. Good luck on your race.

Hi Cindi and Tricia!

Lisa

Rest day yesterday and today.

Jane - I'm glad ths shot went ok. I went through Invitro Fertilization for my first pregnancy and had to give myself over 100 shots (I counted it up!). The first time I was so freaked out and it turned out to be nothing. When I was in graduate school - I worked with animals and had to give them shots sometimes. :( Giving a rat a shot is not fun - they don't like it.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Ladies!

Lots going on in the last couple of days! I'll probably miss on some of the personals - sorry in advance!

Alisha - I'm glad you're doing better! I love mashed taters, but I only eat some at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I loved Circuit Max! If you like those types of workouts, it would be a good one for you! It really goes from one exercise to the other with cardio in between and no rest! You get 2 hi/lo cardio segments, 2 kickbox segments and two step segments for cardio. I think you'd like it!

Lisa - You sound busy, busy, busy now! Keep the puppy talk coming! I love puppy talk! You know, I may have overestimated his seizures. They don't know what's causing them and he never seems to have one when we're taking him to the vet. We could take him to a specialist the vet recommended, but we haven't done it yet.

Jane - Hope you're race went well today! Will keep your mom in my thoughts and send healing energy to her!

Cindi - Enjoy your rest day today! That class sounded like an awesome endurance workout! I don't see any strength work in that description! Besides, can you do both in one workout? Idk.

Let's see, I did PH yesterday. It wasn't my best workout. I was tired still. DH is in the middle of his second time through the GMAT exam trying to up his score before applying to PhD programs. So, I agreed to take care of the pups last night so he could get some rest. Got up around 12:30 this morning to take them out and "slept" with them downstairs on the couch for the rest of the night because they can get restless after that. Didn't sleep much. Missed the tempurpedic mattress AND some dweeb kept calling my cell phone in the middle of the night! I had missed calls from this same number a couple of nights ago too, but I was upstairs, so didn't hear the phone. They never leave a message! You know they have to know they're dialing a wrong number! Why can't they just stop calling???!!! Tried to do a reverse search on Google, but you have to pay to find out who it is. Anyway, I'm even more tired today, but am going to try to eek out a couple of 10 min. workouts from 10 Minutes Solutions (won that DVD) and maybe a HIIT, if I can find the energy! I had hoped the puppy walk yesterday evening would make them sleep straight through, but it didn't. Oh, well. This may be a rest day for me, too.

I ordered my slanted risers, 12-20 lb. weighted vest (now I can get some decent leg work done), and the TPE bands (mine are only 4' long and I can't do a lot of the band exercises because of that). So, I'm almost completely set with my Cathe workout gear! Just need a high step and I'm done! Working on that one! May have a used one on the way soon for cheap!

Oooh, better go! This is getting long! Hazards of being MIA for one day!

Have a beautiful weekend everyone!

Hi Everyone!

This is going to be a hit and run post. I'm really tired. I was up before 5am to go to my race. It was 77 degrees at race time with humidity at 100%. Luckily it was a 7:30 start and it was cloudy. They had firemen with hoses so we could be watered down at 2 points in the race. I got hosed (literally) early on in the race.

Since this was my first 10.5K I set a PR!!! :):) I also got 1st place in my age group. Ok...there was only 2 people in my age group and the other person was my twin but I'll take it. The medal was a clay disk with a set of running feet imprinted. They were outlined in blue, red and green for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. They were very unique.

I'm going to crash for a while. I'm zonked!!

Have a great Saturday!

I didn't wind up working out yesterday. I had a migraine and went home and hung out on the couch. This morning I did Namaste yoga, BBL Sculpt and an episode of Shimmy.

Jane - Congrats on your race!!

Tricia - That's so frustrating about the dweeb. When I get those, I wait and let Andy answer the phone and that usually fixes it. Good luck figuring out Milo's seizures.

Hi Cindi and Alisha.
Lisa

Jane - Congrats on the new PR at a new distance! I'd be happy to take 1st no matter what at my age! LOL!

Lisa - Yuck, migraine! Bleh. Glad you were able to do something this morning! Turns out, this is the same dweeb that had been harassing DH for a while, too. We think he's working his way through the numbers. There's something wrong with this guy.

Thanks about Milo! He's such a happy little boy! You should see his face when he runs! You'd think he died and gone to doggy heaven! You can actually see the bliss!

Haven't been able to nap today, but am just chilling. Going to rest since tomorrow's my attempt at 10 miles!

Lisa- I hope you feel better soon

I'm at Drexel University in Sacramento taking an ADA accessibility seminar. I'm learning more about restroom signage than I had imagined there was to learn. No exercise for me today. I was up and out the house before 6.

See you guys later,

Alisha

Hey Tricia,
I posted a question in the new workouts forum about the STS Full Body workout but SNM can't seem to bother to answer it so I'll post it here. They said that the rep range for STS Full Body would be similar to those from Mesos 1 and 2. For those of you that have STS, what range does that put us in?
Thanks so much!
Lisa

Hi Lisa!

I haven't done STS since early this year, but I think Meso 1 is around the 15 rep range and 60-70% 1RM and Meso 2 is around the 12 rep range and 70-80% of 1RM. I think that's right. I checked the shopcathe site and they didn't put the rep range for Meso 2, but I believe that's correct.

Thanks Tricia. I'm a little frustrated that SNM has checked the forum and responded to other posts but couldn't answer that one. It's the one new workout that I am interested in. I wonder how it is STS (which I thought was all about periodization) when it is only one workout but I don't really care about that. It sounds like it will be the rep range and style of workout that I like. I'd really like another separate upper body workout too but I'll be happy to have another upper/lower body split similar to Pyramid.

Alisha - Thanks. The Advil last night kicked the headache down. I've felt good today. I hope your seminar is going well.

Lisa

Lisa - I've had that happen too. SNM will answer 2 or 3 other questions and skip mine altogether. Not sure why since they tend to not mind answering the same question from several different people without batting an eye!

No matter I'm glad I could help. It will be interesting to see what they do with that workout!

Hello Jogglers!

Well, I survived my 10 mile run this morning - barely! It was going great, then we turned around (yes, one of those dreaded out & back runs) and, of course, we were running into the wind. By mile 7, I was ready to stop, but I kept pushing through. By mile 9, my HR was creeping up and I was ready to cry! We were hitting that point in the path that creeps uphill gradually until the steep (short, but steep) hill starts. HR hit 182 and I knew I had to get it down, so I slowed to a walk until it came down to 175 and started running again, albeit slowly. I had to slow one more time and finished it out at a run. I did 10 miles! We still had another mile home. I waved DH on and walked the rest. By then, my legs were so tight and I still would have had one more hill up and I knew I couldn't do it. It was hot this morning and I had no energy left!

Dropped 3 lbs. (water probably) just from this one run! Burned 1094 cals. with the mile walk home. I've never done that much in one workout. Nothing left in me for today! LOL! Now, I have to plan out my weight workouts for Mon, Weds. and Fri.! Ugh.

Hello again!

I'm trying to figure out my weight workouts for this week and was looking at CTX. There's 5 workouts, but in the descriptions there's no back workout. Is that an error or did they completely skip working the back muscles?

Thanks!

Never mind - I found it! Duh.

Hi Jogglers!

I was really tired this morning and wanted to go for a run but my legs were really sore. So I did this instead. Fortunately the squats helped my legs feel better.

Mary Agnes (named for my sister)
5 Rounds
20 Swings
30 Kettlebell Presses
40 Sumo and Regular Squats
50 Sit ups

Tricia ~ Awesome job this morning! You should find a 1/2 Marathon this fall. You would do great!

My mom and I made your recipe last night and LOVED it!! It was very easy and looked elegant. My mom really loved the combination of the grape tomatoes and spinach with the spices.

Alisha ~ Hope you had a good time at your seminar!

Lisa ~ Hope you are feeling better. I'm glad you got a workout in yesterday. Sometimes that helps!

Hi Cindi!

Hope everyone had a great day!

Jane - Nice workout! I'm glad you and your mom enjoyed the recipe!

Not sure I'm ready for a half yet! The one I would do is in the same month as the MCM, so it will have to wait for next year! It's in Newport and the scenery is amazing! Who knows though. There may be one in the spring . . .

Hi,

I went for a hike this morning. I will be doing an interval jog/hike tomorrow. Its nice and cool. I will catch up on personals tomorrow,

Alisha
