Jan2006 rotation - "Let's work"

Saker

Cathlete
Hi

I am one week into this tough calorie-burning rotation. I wondered if anyone else has done it all (or is currently doing for a bit of mutual support.:) )

It contains 70-90min of exercise (a lot of cardio) each day and this week it has included interval training nearly every day. I am hoping to shift a few pounds, I don't have that many left to lose but they are the most stubborn ones. I wondered if anyone else had tried this rotation and how they got on?

Cheers
Ruth

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Good Morning Ruth,

This sounds like a great w/o for me next month. Is this a Cathe's w/o cuz I can't find it anywhere? I must be looking in the wrong places.

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Hi

It's not in the rotation list but if you search back until Jan this year you will find Cathe's post. I think it's about page 7 or 8 of this forum.

Let me know how you get on. It's pretty tough! At least I think so :)

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Hi Ruth,
I did the rotation earlier this year. I wanted to see if I could. I didn't loose any weight with it, and it helped me realize my body does better with less cardio. It did make me feel good knowing I could do the rotation since it was tough, but also after an hour of exercise I start loosing focus. Sorry, not the encouraging response you wanted- I actually lost weight doing a strength trainging rotation.

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Deanie, thanks for the response. I did wonder if it might constitute "overtraining" but as Cathe had posted it as a New Year loosing weight rotation I thought it was worth a go. I feel pleased with myself having managed it this far, but will be a bit disappointed if I don't lose at all. Out of interest which was the rotation which helped you to lose weight?

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Ruth-
You might want to give that rotation a try but modified...
I do 1 week intense similar to it then 1 week w/ only 3 cardio & 2 Strength (2 off) then back to a 6 day etc....
My body responds quite well to this format, for me 4 weeks straight of intense cardio is way over training and my body starts to store fat because I cant eat enough clean food to make up calorie deficit. Just my experience.

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Ruth...

I did this rotation and was proud I got through it. However, I was VERY HUNGRY during this month and over ate quite a bit. I don't think I want to attempt another rotation of this intensity. This was my body's response to it and may not be yours.

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Hi Traci

thanks for the advice. I think that is a good suggestion. I am at the start of my second week today and weighed myself but have gained 1/2lb.:-( I do feel a little slimmer though so hoping that I have lost a little body fat. I couldn't decide whether to press on with the rotation or start an easier week as you suggest. In the end I decided to give it another week and see how it went and then maybe insert a lighter week after that.

Hi Jane

I haven't felt particularly more hungry yet though that often kicks in after a week or two for me. I am counting calories and zigzagging every fourth day in an attempt to control my eating and prevent my metabolism slowing down.

I have yet to find anyone who found this rotation a great success though so I may abandon or modify after next week if I am not seeing any results as it uses a lot of time and effort.

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Thanks Deanie - I will certainly consider it - the only thing is I don't have the GS series and I only have PS legs so I might have to repeat S&H or the pyramids. Do you think that would be okay?
Ruth

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

I think it'd be fine. I would do pyramids in place of week 2 and S&H in place of week 4. Its a strength training rotation so I think as long as you keep doing strength your good.:)I also think S&H is a great series!!
Deanie:)

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Wow deanie...I have printed this off...this looks like QUITE the rotation...yowza!!!

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Thanks everyone for your help and encouragement and especially Deanie for that impressive rotation :) . I am going to stick with the one I'm doing another week. If I get some results I will keep going and then I think I will give yours a try.

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

I tried this rotation. I'm pretty sure I had to up my calories a little but my thighs trimmed down (I'm a pear). My body liked this. Also, I think the previous month I had been forcusing more on weights so my body may have reacted to the change in format as well.

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Ooh! Ooh! I wish I'd seen your post last week, Ruth. I'm currently in the final week of this rotation, and have been wishing I had a Buddy throughout. Are you still working it?

I immediately lost 5 pounds in the first 2 weeks of this rotation, and have been stable for the last 2. However, my belly, thighs and hips appear to be slimming down (tightening up?). I'm quite impressed with how much my tummy has shrunk. I had a baby almost a year ago, and my belly fat has just been very stubborn.

This is a tough rotation, but it's making a difference to my stamina and endurance. And I feel so so so good when I complete each workout. I had to take a break at the half way point of the rotation, because I was completely drained. I learned from that that I am not refueling enough after the workouts (I workout before bed, so I wasn't having anything more than water after the workouts). Once I started having a small breakfasty-type meal before going to bed, I started feeling much better and am maintaining my energy levels quite well.

For my "break", I took one complete day off, then did Cardio & Weights for one day, then the next day I did Step Blast. Then I started up again where I left off. So, today should have been my last day, but I'm still 4 workouts from the end.

How are you doing with her calisthenic bonuses? I've been doing them in circuit-sessions, which seems to work really good.

To provide some support, I've been reading the threads of the group who did the rotation when it was put out last January. I just do an advanced search in the open forums for the "Jan rotation", and then find the day that matches what I'm doing.

Hope you're doing okay,
Sandra

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Hi Sandra - I just decided to abandon this rotation on Friday - now I feel ashamed because you and Jo have posted success with it and I feel like I've not given it enough chance. I was nearing the half way point and finding it hard going especially on my ankles as there is a lot of jumping. Then when I weighed I hadn't lost anything at all and a few people here had said it didn't really do it for them, so it all seemed a bit pointless. So I am taking a couple of days off and was thinking of trying a modification of Deanie's rotation.

It sounds like you have done really well with it though - especially for keeping going when you hit a hard point. Thanks for your encouragement.

RE: Jan2006 rotation -

Ah nuts. I'm sorry to hear you stopped the rotation, but it's totally understandable if you didn't feel you were getting the results you wanted. There is definitely a lot of jumping. I think what I like the best about this rotation is that I feel such a glow of accomplishment after each workout. Last night I did KPC, 500 jumping jacks, and 10 mins of jump rope. And it didn't feel all that "hard." That's a pretty neat feeling. And I think I learned something: all those calisthenics are the key to flattening my abs. They seem to really tighten up my middle better than a core workout. I'm definitely going to keep tacking them on to my future workouts.

Good luck with Deanie's rotation. Let us know if you get the results you want!

Sandra
