Lovely pictures. Aren't vacations like that are hard to come back from? I'm reminded of an Italian forgein exchange student that stayed with us a couple of years ago. I wanted to kill her by the time she left. The whole lot of them were out of control!

I loved Cinque Terre. I'm even entertaining a whole vacation in that region. Lots of hiking opportunities and it's located near Portofino, Italy and Nice, France. I would really love to take my granddaughter when she gets older so we're talking a few years from now :)

I loved you pics. I am Italian and hope to visit Italy in the near future. Where were the people sunning themselves on the boulder? Was that in Riomaggiore? Fantastic pictures. How did you decide where to go? Any info on how you planned your trip would be appreciated!

Looks like a great trip. Italy is beautiful!
Glad you had a great time.

(And a "gondola guy" is also called a "gondoleer")

Lisa,

You are right, the boulders wre in Riomaggiore.

I am also of Italian descent. We decided on the north central part of Italy because when we visited Italy on our honeymoon in 2000, we only went to Rome and Naples. The country is so large and diverse, it's hard to get the true flavor of it just by visiting a specific area. I had seen a special on the Travel Channel with Rick Steves. Rick visits Europe every year for four months and then writes books and travel guides on specific areas. I saw the Cinque Terre special a few years ago and knew I had to see the area with my own eyes. So, I bought his guidebook and DH and I mapped out our route. I used a travel agent for my airlines tickets and did everything else through the internet. There we a couple of glitches but for the most part, everthing was great!

Candi, Your pictures are beautiful! The architecture is amazing. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Candi,

My family and I are moving back to the states from Italy this Sun. All I can say is it is a beautiful country. We have been very fortunate to call Italy our home for 4 years.( the longest place we have lived) Venice is only an hour away and my daughter and I went for the last time this past Sat. Can you believe this, my kids are SICK of Venice. They have been so many times, field trips, visitors, etc. I am actually going to blow up and frame some of the pics we have taken of ITaly and other European countries. We went to the Island of Capri last yr and it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.

Glad you enjoyed your trip. Great pics.

Lollie
