I've been hacked!

My email was hacked this afternoon with a brute force email attack. My email address sent out a fake link and it is a virus. Do not click on it! Watch your email accounts. These things are malicious and a pain to deal with.

Be careful out there people!!! Btw, I didn't do anything wrong, my password is really long!!!

That happened to me about a year ago. My account started sending out emails to everyone all the time. My password also was unusual. It was my yahoo account. I finally got rid of it by changing my password multiple times in one day. If it is the same thing, it is not a virus but something else which I totally forget. What a pain!

I had the same thing happen about a year ago. Do you have an image that shows up when you log in? Once I set up an image as part of my log in, I haven't had anymore issues.

Alisha, I'm sorry this happened to you. It is such a pain on so many levels. Unfortunately or fortunately most of us are familiar with receiving emails from someone we know who's account was hacked. At least it's obvious by the way they say something like, "Hey, take a look at this," and then leave the link. Thankfully we're familiar enough so we don't open up the link, that is if you've received hacked emails before.

I hope everything straightens out quickly for you.

Hugs,
Bam

I get spam emails all the time from email addresses of people I know. The common link is always (and I mean ALWAYS) Facebook.

And how lovely it was for my entire email list to get spam from my email address advertising male sexual enhancement 'supplements' guaranteed to make you...well, you know what I mean.

At least when I got hacked recently, the spam was only for weight loss supplements. So, lot of the people thought well maybe, she is into exercise, now maybe weight loss supplements?

I had that happen to a few years ago. My email account was stolen because Ebay got hacked. I used the same password for both and my email was connected to my Ebay account. Lesson learned. Use a different password for all the sites you visit. I was able to get both mine back through customer service. Hope you can get this resolved.

Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it. I seem to have neutralized the culprit for now. It only took a little over an hour.

Is there anything we can do ourselves to keep this from happening? I do shop on E-Bay. I refuse to use Facebook.
