Is This Happening To You

Good Morning,

I received my Intensity DVDs yesterday :) :)

While previewing Muscle Endurance the screen frozed for about 2-3 seconds before the push-up section. Also, during Upper Body Pyramid the screen frozed again for about 2-3 seconds before the tricep section.

I wanted to know if anyone is having the same problems OR if my DVDs are defective?

Thanks for any assistance :)

I have only watched sections of each of those workouts so far so I'm not sure whether it happens on mine. However, one thing to remember is that these are dual-layered DVDs and at some point there needs to be a transition from the first to the second layer. Since you're talking about this happening on two different discs, I tend think that's what's happening. When your player makes the switch, it tends to freeze for a couple, maybe even a few, seconds. SNM has said in the past that this is unavoidable so they try to put the transition at a point in the workout that can freeze for a few seconds without affecting your workout. Like in IMax, it happens during a recovery period. Hope this helps and I hope your DVDs are ok!

Gee, I've not checked that far yet. Maybe I should.

And by the way, love your forum name. I'm Xenafan at the Fitprime forum.

HOW FUNNY!!!!

I have had a problem with the Cardio and Weights DVD. Actually, it was the cardio alone section. When I did it the other night, the DVD froze up after each section. There are four sections. When it happened after the first section, I pushed forward and ended up back at Cardio 1, so I just redid it. Then it shifted fine the next time into Cario 2, but after that it froze again - so I redid Cardio 2 - to make a long story short - it did it everytime, but when I got through it the second time it went to the next section fine.

That can be really frustrating - I have done the Pyramid Series and the Terminator with no problems at all.

I'm very familiar with the transitions involved in a dual-layer disc, but those on my intensity DVDs seem to be excessive, and not what I've experienced on others. There is a particular transition (I just previewed, so I can't remember, but it's going into triceps on either muscle endurance or step and weights (I think the latter). There is a "fly in" shot of Cathe announcing the new exericise, and it "shivvers" before continuing on. I've never had this bad a transition on the many, MANY movies and (fewer) exercise DVDs that I have:-(

Hi there,
This maybe overly simplistic, but did you clean the disks?? I ask only because one of mine would not play at all the first try, so I took it out and cleaned it--and it works fine now. I had a couple of glitches on the others, so I cleaned them as well, and it helped tremendously. I hope this works for you--its frustrating when were all sooo excited about getting these, to be having problems, but maybe this will work.

Have a good one

Hi Jayne,

What did you used to clean your disks?

Sherry

They sell little CD/DVD cleaner cloths at any music/movie store. I bought a pack at Sam Goody for $1.99. These cloths helped me clean a DVD I was having problems with and it worked just fine after that.

Hi Sherry,
I just used a little water and the cloth from an eyeglass cleaning kit--on one I did use pledge, they work great!!!

Hope it helps

RE: layer change

All of our DVDs, are spread across two layers on one side of the disc. When the player changes to the second layer, the video and audio may freeze for a moment. The length of the pause depends on the player and on the layout of the disc. The pause is not a defect in the player or the disc. The layer change is invisible on some players, but it can cause the video to freeze for a fraction of a second or up to 4 seconds on other players.

SNM?

Could you tell us where the change-over points are for each disc, so we won't be diagnosing "errors" that don't exist?

Also, could the new authoring software you used cause more of a pause than usual? My player has always had about the same amount and type of pause on all DVDs, so I'm used to that, but the Intensity pauses seem longer/different to me.

RE: SNM?

The "seamlessness" depends as much on the way the disc is prepared as on the design of the player. It's not reaally a software issue as it is how much information is on the disc and the video encode rate.Layer changes will occur about in the middle of the disc. You can buy players that feature seamless layer changes if this really bothers you, but they're more expensive than normal players at this point in time. Eventually all players will feature seamless layer change capabliities.
