IS CTX SERIES HARD ON THE KNEES ?

Hi All,

Just had a thought fly into my head, I am wondering is the CTX series hard on the knees, if the series is followed weekly as it is intended ? It was the bursts of cardio, kickboxing, and step that prompted this thought and question.

Yours wonderingly

Jumping in again I didn't find it too hard on my knees I think it is helped that there are 2 step days and then step days after hi/lo and kickbox which does help with overuse injuries.

Listen out for popping sounds on squats etc I find what helps is not going down too far and turning my toes out further then Cathe does as well as having my legs nice and wide it seems to stop me from putting pressure on the front of my knee which is where I feel the pain most.

I think it can be hard on the knees. Every cardio segment is full of impact. I've never done a CTX only rotation although I'm planning on trying it next week. But I've done each segment by itself and all of that impact does tend to bother my knees and shins.

Knee problems are so individual that this can be hard to answer. For me, Leaner Legs is very comfortable for my knees, but the cardio sections with their high impact give me problems. --Karen

Hi Anna:

The only one of the CTX series that makes me feel arthritic in the knees is 10-10-10 -- something about that last portion on the step disagrees with my bod. Especially when you tack on the final section of PowerMax to make the cardio longer!

Hi Patricia,

Do you end up doing the last portion of 10-10-10 as a low impact 'thing' on the floor ?

Thanks

Anna

Hi Bobbi,

I work out on carpeted floor in the living room, is carpeted floor hard on the knees ?

Intrigued.....

Anna :)

Hi Bobbi,

It probably is concrete, being on the ground floor. UK houses tend to have floorboards only on the first (or second ) floors.
Would you suggest some kind of a mat to workout on ? The thing that worries me about a mat, is tripping over it, I am very clumsy ! :-rollen

Anna :)

Anna

Try a yoga mat they have wonderful cushioning and some places will cut them in your specifications as they often come on a roll. I am fortunate that we have floor boards here so the cushioning is better and we recently invested in carpets with a cushioned underfelt. Although even with all this I still can't do RS.

Oh in addition you can get mats for your step but you have to be careful that they are non-slip covers on both sides (haven't personally tried these).

Hard on my knees, unfortunately

What I do is modify, modify, modify! No power scissors (jog in place as a substitute), 1 set of power 7's & 15's, etc. and I'm modify any "power" movemenets, overall.

I still get a great workout and keep my heart rate elevated throughout the cardio sections.

Hi Anna

I can't remember if you said where you got your step from if you said but Physical Company stock them and so do John Lewis stores if you have one that has a fitness department in it. They are not to expense.

I was thinking about getting some sort of padding for my knee you know one of those clothe thingys that you see what the yanks would call jocks wearing. But I am due at the hospital the week after next so I will see if I can get an xray arranged.

Hi Babs,

Has your knee been that bad recently ? I had mine looked at about 7 years ago, and it was x-rayed and it showed that my right knee was out of alignment, compared to my left knee. in fact if you stare at my knees long enough, you can see the difference between both knees. I had to have physiotherapy on it, which helped to a certain extent. Good Luck for next week !

They really hurt when going up the stairs I can't run up anymore and step is getting harder, its the front of my knees that are affected and I get popping sounds in my right knee. The popping is better if I take gluscamine and I am careful about keeping my legs wide and not squatting too low but after my fall they seem to have gotten worse.

RE: Sorry I'm Late, Anna!

Sorry, Anna, I don't have a computer at home and just now noticed your message.

Yes, I do the step portion of 10-10-10 on an 8-inch step with high impact. I pretty well do everything high impact -- otherwise I get bored and lethargic and, for some reason, feel unbalanced and heavy as an elephant when I do low impact. I like my workouts to be fast and furious!
