is coffee bad for you?

I'm with Jodelle--everything in moderation is my motto. I still drink coffee and I'm pregnant. I should also mention that I pour myself a full cup (about a 1/3 milk anyway) every morning and then proceed to drink maybe 1/8 of it. I like to have that ceremonial cup even though it never gets drunk.

Oxygen says coffee is good for you!

Don't worry ladies!!

I was reading my new issue of Oxygen last night and they have confirmed that 1 cup of coffe a day is actually good for you and can even promote weight loss!

WooHoo!

In addition to the lowered risk of dementia, heavy coffee drinkers have a lower risk of diabetes and a dramatically lower risk of Parkinsons disease. I also recently read that coffee is the number one source of antioxidants in the typical America diet. (Which is guess is a sad commentary...)

Which doesn't mean it's rich in antioxidants, just that people drink more coffee than eat berries or drink tea or consume other antioxidant-rich foods. (Though I'm sure the coffee companies appreciate this info being interpreted as "coffee is good for you").

To the OP: You will hear both sides of the fence on this subject. IMHO look at your circumstances and make the choice. Are you healthy? If you have a health issue, does the caffeine have an impact on the issue? Are you overindulging (several pots a day) thus ignoring a bigger issue? I think the press on whether or not coffee is bad for you is so out of control. It changes daily! :) For me, I have kidney issues so, I limit my intake and drink plenty of water throughout the day. :) HTH and good luck with making an informed decision which is right for you. :)
