Is cardio kicks worth it?

Hi all. I LOVE KPC! Love the high energy, awesome music and wonderful workout. I like Kick Max, but like many others, don't sweat in it like I do in KPC. I don't have cardio kicks - should I? Is it worth it? Or do I stick with just these two for my kickboxing workouts? Appreciate any thoughts.

Hi - Cardio Kicks was the first Kickbox workout that really challenged me. I love this workout and you will definitely sweat. The drills at the end are great as is the music. I think this is a must have. Lots of folks here think it is a space hog, but you can modify it to your workout space. This workout holds a special place in my heart. I would say get it!!

i love cardio kicks! it's a great workout! really burns the calories!!!!

i actually, in a weird way.. like it better than KPC!

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

I know you are already convinced but I still want to say that this is my FAVORITE kickbox workout! Cathe is my favorite kickbox instructor and all her kickbox (and other)workouts are the best. You will LOVE Cardio Kicks. It's fab! If you do not have the space you can modify. The drills at the end are killer. Enjoy!:)

Love CK and it's nice with the 2 men. Especially when Cathe said "I need some motivation".

It's a great workout. If you like kick box you won't be disapointed

Enjoy!

You may also look into the premixes on the Kickmax dvd. There's one called Bootcamp and it has the warmup, followed by the blast, and then the kicking and punching drills. It's not KPC, but it does make it pretty brutal.

Cardio Kicks is a good addition to your collection. A neat thing about CK is that you can sling the power drills section at the end onto the tail end of KPC or Kickmax for a final power blast.

In fact . . . there's a mish-mosh that would be perfect for you:

KPC warm-up and high-intensity drills
Kickmax Boot Camp Challenge
(Optional: Boot Camp kickbox only segment)
Cardio Kicks power drills segment

And yes, as produced Cardio Kicks before the power drills segment does command a lot of space. Modifications for travelling moves can go from moderate to very intense: calf-pumps; jacks, modified plyo jacks or straight-up plyo jacks; more power hops forward and back or simply in place; ice breakers; dynamic windmills; etc.

Order now.

I didn't like KPC (off FitTv) and I don't have Kick Max (not interested). But I love CK. I enjoy Cathe's floor aeerobics and this is a good one. I don't care for arm drills, but the rest is a good, sweaty workout. IMO, Billy has the best kickboxing, so I feel I have an adequate amount of his Live series (with his poor counting and cuing). But I consider CK to be more aerobic with a little kickboxing flair to it.

CK is not a workout I use a lot because of the impact (although this can always be modified) and the need for space, but it's a great workout to cut into segments and mix and match with Cathe's other workouts. I especially love the upper body drills. Sometimes I use this as a warm-up for an upper body weight workout.

OH.. and i want to add.. if you are getting the dvd version.. i absolutely LOVE circuit max!

Yes!!! It is good variety and different from KPC and KM. Also as the previous poster said...get the DVD. CMax is an awesome workout also.

So I followed all of your advice and ordered the CK and CM DVD. For the longest time I only ordered video tapes and with HC went over to DVD's. Duh - why did I wait so long on that? But I got my UPS notice and it'll be here on Monday. Also ordered the Terminator b/c I love the Intensity series.

Thank you all for the great input and A-Jock - what would we do without you? Thanks for the mish-mosh input. I so appreciate all of your efforts (including all of the mish-moshes in the compendium with Lunacat - you guys are great.)

CK is a so so workout. The music is rather bla and the routine is repetitious. In my opinion, KPC is Cathe's best kickbox workout followed by Kickmax (although I don't love this workout). Cardio kicks is ok. Her form isn't so good and there are a lot of moves that you would never do in a true kickbox class (I did boxing/kickingboxing in a kickbox only gym for 5 years). For me, and only for me, I don't find Cardio Kicks to be that difficult (keep in mind though that IMAX 1 is something I do when I don't feel like working out very hard. I am a very different species compared to everyone else).

Aside from all of my personal opions, have fun no matter which workout you choose. It is a very individual process.

Good luck,
Rhonda

Yes Rhonda, I dare say you do sound like a different species. If IMAX 1 is for laid back days, may I ask what you do when you want a good hard workout?

Lsas,
I find Imaxes 2 and 3 much harder than 1. I think I figured out why Imax 1 is easier for me and I think it is because all of the blasts are done on the floor (plyo's etc.) and those don't really get to me the way jumping up and down off of the step does. This could be why I don't find Cardio Kicks very difficult either.

I know I am strange. I guess somebody has to be:)

Rhonda

Just to convince you some more, Cardio Kicks is different enough from the other two that it really is worth having. I love having 3 kickbox workouts to rotate with.

No, I don't think so. I hate seeing it on my rotation. I really don't enjoy this one very much at all. I don't really like the choreography - especially the speed-bags with the knee-lifts. It's really kind of not fun. KPC is much more fun, and definitely more difficult.

How's that for a scathing review? I think maybe it's because I was annoyed that it was in my March rotation twice. (I'm using one of Cathe's previous S&H rotations).

One good thing I can say about it, the bald guy is pretty cute.
