Just wondering if any of you guys work out 5 times per wk. I am getting to the point where 6 is just too much and i seem to need that second day off! I usually work out Mon - Sat with sunday off. But lately i can't seem to find the time on saturday to fit that last work out in! Do you all think that extra day makes a HUGE difference if i my diet is in check???.. Any suggestions or comments???Thanx is advance if anyone answers :+

Hey girlfriend!! Hopefully you will get some great advice on this question, but I'm betting that as long as your diet is good, you should have no problem doing 5 days a week. I know several people (not via home exercise) from work workout approximately four times a week at the gym, and they look pretty darn good!!!!

More is not always better! It's what you put into your workouts and your mouth that makes the real diffence in getting or maintaining results! Eating is 85%(an estimate) of your results( so you are good to go if you eat clean) and If you are feeling like 6 is too much now than listen to your body and take the 2 days off! You may even feel more energized and find that this is "your" speed, who knows, try it, feel it and re-evaluate later! Don't sweat it! Enjoy your extra day off ;-)

I work out 5 days a week also. I find when I work out 6 days a week, I get burnt out easily. 5 days a week is perfect for me and I'm seeing great results also. I stay more motivated this way and have more energy for my workouts.

I too tend to vary it. Some weeks it's 6,others 5, sometimes I'm so busy it may only be 4! As long as I keep my "diet" in line it works out. I always take time for stretching and some yoga poses before I go to bed at night though. I recently read in a book that suggested taking 2 days off a week to allow your body to recover. You may do some good to take that extra reast day!
I was doing a 3 day on 1 day off schedule and my body really liked it! Take care and stay fit-Susan

Hi-

I was wondering for those of you who workout 5x/week.. Do you think it is better to take the 2 days off in a row or to just take a day off every 3 or 4 days?

TIA,
Lynn

I plan on taking both my days off in a row..like sat and sun..and keeping my eating under control.. i am sure i will be ok this way.. anyone want to chime in and object.. Please do.. i need all the suggestions i can get :+

I personally like to space my days off apart. Say Wed. and then Sat (or Sunday). When I take 2 days off in a row I feel a bit sluggish myself. Also it helps make sure I keep myself inline! Susan

I usually work out 5 or 6 days a week. In May, I did a challenge and worked out every day, but I really mixed up the intensity and did more lower intensity workouts. Lately, I"ve been doing a "three day on, one day off" schedule, unless I really feel like working out on day four, then I do.

From what I've read, the intensity of your workout is more important than the frequency.

As for when to take the days off, I prefer to space them out. In fact, I prefer to workout on both Saturday and Sunday because I have more time then. When I'm working (I teach, so summer is vacation), I usually take off Monday (which is a high stress day after the weekend off) and either Thursday or Friday.

I space out my days off. I feel like I'm getting more of a break this way.

Because I workout 5 days a week, my workouts are more intense, and I have plenty of energy for them. IMAX and MIC are actually a lot easier for me now than they used to be. I still feel energized when I'm finished with them. I've also included running as part of my workout routine and a new class at my gym called JumpFit Extreme. This is the most intense class I've ever taken! It's a very high intensity interval class, including boxer jump roping drills, and shadow boxing. It goes on for an hour. I would never have energy for this class if I worked out 6 days a week.

P.S. Candy...did you see the movie Joy Ride???? It's a pretty scary one and the name Kandeycane is used a lot in this movie. Your screen name reminded me of it. :D

I am experimenting with a three day on one day off schedule. It mentally works for me. I know after three days I will get to take a break. I am a teacher and after about three days my paper work is piling up so I can use an extra hour to get it straightened out. Of course things are easy right now since I am off until August. :+ :+ :+
