iPOD Users w/CC's

I only had my CC's on my iPod but just loaded on a bunch of songs.

Both my CC's and songs are listed under music so if I want to do a shuffle it will bring up my CC workouts.

Where did you load your CC's to keep them separate from your music - under videos?

Yep - a definite iPod newbie (or should I say, haven't used my iPod for anything other than CC yet? :p)

TIA !

Jacque, I make a separate playlist for each one.

Coach Sean has a video tutorial on his website that walks you through the entire process and it's only a couple of minutes long.

Here's the link: http://www.cardiocoach.com/support.php#tutorial
Click where it says "Importing to iTunes", and after he demonstrates how to upload CC, he will show you how to make a playlist. HTH :)

ETA that even after you make separate playlists for the workouts, CC will still be listed in your music library and the tracks will continue to come up in the shuffle. I'm not aware of anything you can do for that short of having 2 iPods -- one for CC and one for music. Believe it or not, some people do just that.

Hi Jacque~

If you shuffle your entire music library, there is a chance it will pick up a CC track. If you only want to listen to music, why not create a separate playlist of the songs you wish to listen to. I have about 15 different playlists of 30+ songs based on the type cardio workout I'm doing. I also put my CC workouts in separate playlists just for convenience since some are located in my library under "cardio coach" while others are under O'Malley. I couldn't remember where each volume was located so it was easier to make playlists and name them CCPP, CCV8 etc....

HTH;)

JJ, you're a smart woman!! I have very little music on my iPod so it didn't even occur to me to make a separate playlist for the songs I want to listen too -- LOL!!! I'm such a dork!

Jacque, scratch what I said in my previous post and listen to JJ. In my defense, I would probably know more about this stuff if I had kids -- LMAO!! :p :D

Thanks for the info and the link to Coach Sean.

I do have the CC's as separate playlists, but see that my Music has all the songs, including CC's.

So guess I'll go back and add Music playlists is how I am understanding it.

Will let you know if I bomb it and need additional help.

Thanks again Miss L and Ninja ! :D

Michele~ I can attest to the fact that YOU ARE NOT A DORK!!! I have learned more from your posts than you will ever know;)

The main reason I make music playlists is because I have over 5000 songs on my iPod including Christmas music which I would prefer to not hear while working out:confused: The cool thing about making your own music playlists is that you can strategically place certain songs to play right at the points when you need that extra push. You can also use certain songs for the warm up and cool down.

FYI: I also have a tiny iPod shuffle that clips on my shirt filled with music for my outdoor runs since my old 1st generation 40 gig is somewhat cumbersome to run with.

Jacque~

On the bottom left corner of your iTunes library is a + for creating a playlist. Click it, give it a name, then drag songs from your library to your playlist.

Ooooooh, that is such a nice thing to say. Thank you!

You have over 5000 songs on your iPod!? That's awesome!! What all do you have on there? I'm terrible when it comes to music. My tastes are pretty eclectic, but I don't know the names of the songs or the artists so I never know how to find songs to download.

Another option

Hi Ladies,

I had this problem too...would crack DH up when he was in my car and Sean's voice would come on right after Led Zeppelin!

The fix is:

If you right click on a song or CC section in your Music, Itunes library, it will give you a menu and on the top is "Get Info" go into the tab that says "options" and then click on the box that says "skip when shuffling".

I also found that my itunes library would sort CC's under exercise or speech, making it easier for me to find. If you can get to it that way I'm pretty sure you can select all of those songs then go to info and do it all at once.

Sometimes I like hearing his sexy voice pop in once in a while ;-)

Thanks Amber!
I wonder how many more cool things I can do with my ipod & itunes that I have never tried:confused:

Michele~ Between myself, DH, DS & DD, we have a huge music collection and each of us has an iPod. My DS works at Best Buy and worked in the media dept. for a couple years. He knows more about music artists and genre than anyone else I know and has introduced artists to me that I would otherwise never get to know or hear. My tastes are wide reaching and my iPod has everything from rock, pop, jazz, R & B, alternative, new age, hip hop, rap, contemporary, opera, show tunes, soundtracks, and of course all my christmas music:confused: I'm not a big fan of country but have a few of DS's cd on there too. I'll occasionally download a single song if I don't like the entire cd but usually I get the whole cd;)

This is great info! I learned this today and also had no idea that I had a "search" feature on mine. I wonder what all else it will do that I haven't a clue about! Thanks again.

I'm the worst of you all...

My son decided his 1 gig MP-3 wasn't good enough anymore and he bought himself another one. So...I *borrowed* it from his drawer and now it only has my CC on it. I have volumes 1-8 with the coaches notes, stretching, etc., and I work out to them one after the other, no jumping or skipping. So far he hasn't even noticed its missing!

Amber,

THANK YOU for this tip! I just did that with all my iTrain, Cardio Coach, and Christmas music. I can not tell you how it breaks up my "zone" when I hear Silent Night come on:eek:!

I now just have to justify to my hubby that I "need" the new iPod. I mean it IS purple...and Cathe is coming out with iPod workouts...and my little 1st generation just doesn't cut it anymore...

I have a 1st generation iPod too and I want a new one!! Mine is so big and bulky compared to the new models. I bought an arm band so I could run with it but it would constantly freeze up and stop working  I ended up buying the tiny shuffle just for my outside running.

JJ

Oh, what great info! I was tired of my audio book popping upon the shuffle!

Carrie- I really want the purple one too. I haven't thought of a good enough excuse to get it though since I have the newer 30 gig. Maybe the ipod workouts will get here soon and I can use that as an excuse? LOL
