Intensity vs. IMax 3

Which is more difficult Intensity or Imax 3. Imax 3 kills me and I am an advanced exerciser. I don't have Intensity yet, but if it's on the same lines as IMax I can't take it.

I love them both. Imax 3 is a favorite go to for me.

Intensity is harder. There is no break or rest/recovery. It just starts and keeps going. For me the HiIT section is easier than the step and step interval sections.

Intensity is TOUGH!!!

I say Intensity is much harder than Imax 3.

I just did Imax 3 on Tuesday of this week and Intensity today. The first 30 minutes of Intensity is killer (and that includes the warm-up). As Nan mentioned, there are no breaks until you get to the HiiT section which is around the 30 minute mark. Once you make it that far, it gets better and you start to feel like you will actually make it to the end! :p

With all the premixes and the ability to mix and match, you could just do pieces of it until you work up to the entire thing.

Hope that helped!

I'll third that! I did Intensity this morning and it's definitely harder. And absolutely those first 30 minutes are killer and always have me looking forward to the Hiit portions with their lovely breaks.

I did Intensity this morning too! I love that workout. It is sooo tough, but fun too. I feel very virtuous after completing it.

You knew there had to be one :)

I could do Intensity every day, all day, but for some reason, I cannot get through IMAX 3.

Thanks

I appreciate everyone's reply. Now I'm scared of Intensity...lol:D

Jacmar, what's the difference for you?

I think the HIIT at the end of Intensity is what makes it harder than IMAX 3. The step portion is really tough, but the HIIT puts it over the top. And there is no recovery time. Ouch!!!

I really don't know for sure. If I had to quess, the recovery time on IMAX 3 seems much shorter to me and the blasts seem harder.

question for you all.Are all the premixes involving the low impact HIIT ,low impact.many thanks, mel

Here is a list of all the premixes

1. Maximum Intensity – 70.21

2. Step Only – 36.30

3. Step + HiiT (Hi) + Boot Camp – 59.09

4. Step + HiiT (Lo) + Boot Camp – 60.23

5. Timesaver - Step + HiiT (Hi)- 46.26

6. Timesaver - Step + HiiT (Lo) – 47.40

7. Timesaver – Step + Boot Camp – 49.13

8. Timesaver - Double HiiT and Boot Camp – 45.44

9. Timesaver – HiiT (Lo) + Boot Camp – 35.49

I agree, the low impact HIIT is the only low impact in the whole workout, but it only lasts about ten minutes. By itself I don't think it would be something to do over and over. It's meant to help your heart rate come down before the final cool down and stretch, so it's not one to get the heart racing. It's still tough, though.

I love the low impact hiit and am very glad Cathe included that option. It is all very do-able but still high intensity. In fact, I found Intensity (all but the high impact hiit) easy to modify, so I'm HAPPY with it.

agree with this...i had to modify some of the workout at random times due to the arches in my feet cramping. it was pretty easy to modify, actually & still got a great workout.

thanks everyone ,i just wish cathe would consider more low impact, high intensity dvds or at least show mods.how does she do all that impact and not suffer with her joints.

You have to get a bit creative but everything hi impact can be modified. Of course, it will lose some of the heart rate factor doing so.
After doing Intensity for several weeks, I did IMAX 3 last week just to see how it compared. I was shocked that I could get through the entire workout without pausing or modifying it! I've never gotten through IMAX 3 before. So I would say that not only is Intensity harder, it is a darn good way to dramatically improve your cardio capacity! It is just WAAAAYYYY harder than any IMAX.
