INJURY RECOVERY CHECK-IN WK OF 8/07!

well fossey, it has only been 5 wks today since I broke it,,,so I certainly hope I don't have to go through that mess! your poor DD....

as far as the check-in goes...zzzzzz I am taking today off...hurting today too much :(... so will sleep, read, and see if I can find a good movie to watch...I will BBL to see if anyone else has checked in and chat w/ them.

Tracy, I broke my wrist on a Thursday too! Today was 11 weeks since I broke it. I was in the cast for 5 weeks, arm brace for 3 weeks, and completely out of anything for 3 weeks now... but as you know still doing therapy.

Enjoy your day off. You deserve it for working so hard yesterday. Hang in there, dear! :)

JeanneMarie: you must be very happy to be cleared for tricep dips AND pushups! that is wonderful! and I am glad for you!:)

Oh I am happy for sure, Tracy, but I can't do the push ups, so it makes me a little crazy. My right arm is so weak. I can barely do 10 from my knees, and I was doing 50 or 60 from my toes before I broke my wrist.

It does give me the go ahead to get back where I was though. That's a huge step and one I am definitely thankful to take!

Hi everyone, haven't done my workout yet, waiting till a little later this evening. Took yesterday off, needed to give my arms a break! No pun intended!

Tracy, enjoy your rest day, I know I did yesterday.

JeanneMarie, my DD was nine when she broke her arm, on the school yard play equipment. It was the first week of school, at a new school to boot. She is 23 now but still has two large scars on her arm from the pins they put in.

You had asked me about pushups the other day, I can only do them on my knees even without my broken ankle. :( But I will get them one of these days. :)

10 from the knees is great!:)

Fossey, I had to laugh at your "arms a break" pun. Don't give mine a break... pretty please! Been there, done that! ;)

Tracy, I know that 10 push ups from the knees is good. I should be more grateful. All I need to do is think back 5 short weeks ago and realize I couldn't do anything in that cast. Push ups of any form are a blessing, indeed! Thank you for reminding me of that! :D

I ran 3 miles last evening in the horrible heat and humidity. It was brutal. For some reason that makes me feel strong and capable... running in heat that other people can barely walk in! I know, I know... call me weird!

This morning I did Level 3 of Jillian's 30 Day Shred. I actually was able to plank on my hands, but of course the majority of my weight was being supported by my left arm/shoulder. Still, it felt mighty good!

I'm headed to hand/wrist thearpy again this afternoon. Time to pop the advil before I go.

Hope everyone has a good day today. Strength and healing vibes to all of you! :D

JeanneMarie: glad you were able to run...

I am still hurting today so I still did not workout...I thought it best....took it easy again, much to my chagrin...bridal shower tomorrow will be enough for me and then the dr on Mon...I am sure hoping the x-rays will show some healing!

Tracy, sorry you were hurting yesterday. I can relate. I was too! I woke up with my hand swollen so much I could hardly form a fist. I had worked it too hard the day before. My therapy yesterday was hard, but good. She continues to rave about my fast progress. I don't know... seems like a snails pace to me, but she knows what she's talking about. I am down to 2 days next week, and then she'll probably dismiss me. It'll all be up to me after that!

Good luck with your xray on Monday. I know that feeling.... crossing your fingers and toes as you sit in the exam room waiting for them to come in and tell you good news about your xray.

I ran 3 miles last night about sunset. It was about 91 degrees. Almost TOO hot. Then this morning I ran another 3 miles and it was 71 degrees... much better!

I also did Jari Love's Get Ripped 1000. There were modifications of course. The main one being I refuse to do any of her cardio step work. I am still afraid of the step. I did it all on flat ground. I also did about half the push ups she did, and from my knees. Progress... progress!

Have a happy, healing weekend everyone!

More progress... I am now able to curl 10 lbs with my right arm! I started at 3 lbs just 3 weeks ago. Baby steps...

I did Cathe's PUB this morning and ran 3 miles.

Happy Sunday to you all!

Hey ladies!

IDK if a new thread was started or not this week, so I suppose I 'll post in here for now.

Been totally MIA, still on the mend as for the Achilles, but getting in whatever workouts I can. I'm also grabbing spare minutes here and there on the PC because DH has been on the computer more than usual, lately. Plus, we've already started back "school" over here (we homeschool), and apparently "my" new laptop has been deemed the latest back to school item for my son  . Gotta love it...

As for my workouts, last week was pretty random on non-upper body days, but went like this:

Mon: PUB & stretching
Tues: LBB leg conditioning/floorwork and STS extended stretch
Wed: HR upper body premix
Thurs: random mish mosh of 10 min solution segments (from multiple DVDs I grabbed at the library) to equal 1 hr of non-impact nonsense  (pilates, boxing, etc) It never really felt like I was doing anything, I just gave up after an hour of trying of make it work
Fri: KCM Muscle Definition (modifying any lunging type moves) - this was my first time doing this one, it was a good quick w/o and it got my heart rate up. Something I've been missing, so that was nice. Also did a bit more stretching that PM.
Sat: rest day (did 10 min pilates)
Sun: MMA Boxing (no lower body drills)

I'm missing my Cathe, now that I'm adding so many other dvds to the mix, but no need to fear, she is still being put to use around here. My DH has started doing STS (he's only on disc 4, so I'm not gonna start celebrating just yet, lol), and DS has started to do the HiiT dvds as he feels it'll help him in basketball. So we shall see how long that lasts, lol. It feels nice to just hear her voice down there sometimes, lol. Although I do get a little envy and wish it was me down there w/her, lol (doing HiiT :p ).

Hope everyone is having a good day, hope to grab a minute later to get back on for personals!
