IMAX2 straddle taps

Hey!! While doing IMAX2 yesterday, I realized I've been doing the straddle taps wrong this whole time. I was tapping my toes on the floor and not the step. It's now so much easier than I'd thought. What a difference it makes.

I too love the straddle taps; I get a different kind of buzz in the quads every time I do that interval.

AND - whenever The Straddle Tap Song (I think the title is "Rainmaker") plays it keeps me company in my head for hours afterward.

I love the straddle taps too. I have to remind myself when doing them...tap lightly! It sounds like elephant toe taps otherwise! I also was happy to see them included in the HSTA workout.

I love those straddle taps, too. That's one of my favorite IMAX 2 blasts. But why is it that I don't feel them in my core? Cathe says there's a lot of core work going on in that routine. But I feel it more in my legs...

I love those straddle taps too. I feel like I'm a football player jumping in and out of the tires. :) I bounce off the floor and then tap my toes on the step.

I think, based on how it feels when I do it, the core comes in to play when you deliberately tap *lightly* as Cathe suggests. To keep your toes from slamming down on the top of the step at that fast pace, you need to control it from the core, kind of the same way you use your core during the "bicycle" movement in her ab routines.

I hope this makes sense. I agree that the legs work very hard, but if you focus on tapping very lightly and quickly, the core should come into play, too.

I was SOOO happy to finally get those straddle taps down after doing Imax 2 for so long...believe it or not, it was while I was doing the Gauntlet from the Terminator that I had my straddle taps epiphany! lol...And now I can do 'em, for the most part, in Step Blast too! (I say 'for the most part' because, for some reason, I can't do them in Step Blast when she very first introduces them, before they're actually in the combo...once they're in the combo I'm good to go)!!! :) I'm hoping I'll have an epiphany for that part now too, lol!
 
I love these straddle taps as well. However, I always start on the wrong foot so I have to stop one tap early so I can do my power 3 at the right time. Oh, well.

I also love the power box and genie arms interval as well. I don't know why, but I do.
 
The power box/genie arm hops is my most loathed interval of IMAX2. I would rather do interval 9 twice, instead of that one. I'm so glad she put it as the third interval, because once I get through it, I can enjoy the rest of the workout so much better. My favourite intervals are the straddle taps, and the first interval, because I'm still in my warm up and don't give it 100% LOL!
