Imax 2...

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

A completely different animal from Imax 1 and just as thrilling!

Cathe actually suggests that you view it twice before doing, but hard-headed me jumped right in! My preview was actually while doing it! Cathe's cueing really is so sharp that it was easy to follow except for some fancy moves that will probably take ME a few more tries to do.

Lots of powerful leg work! There were air born jacks and plyo jacks early on, like in interval 2 or 3? Tuck jumps came early also, like interval 4 or 5?
I kid you not when I tell you intervals #6-8 are a blur at this moment, and the only reason I can remember #9 is because "Cathe lost her mind on that one!" Words cannot describe that interval! There are 8 long hop turns, 4 plyo hops straddling the step, 2 jumps, 2 jacks, turn, 2 jacks, then repeat the whole sequence like 5 more times! My legs gave out after 3 times! Literally gave out! I was done! I marched in place and watched Cathe like she was absolutely out of her mind!
Interval 10 was a piece of cake after #9, and for anyone that has Mindy Mylrea's Extreme Intervals/Pump Party, there is a "hint of Mindy" in this interval with alternating squat jumps. I really liked that it ended with a tough, but fun interval.
Also, another "hint of Mindy" in an earlier interval with some fast footwork that puts you in mind of the "football drill" interval that Mindy does. :)

This was one fun workout! Tough, but do-able with modifications. I actually used the platform of my step bench (5.5") since this was my first time doing it, I didn't want to kill myself tripping off my 6" step! :) Good call because some of the fancier footwork would have landed me on my butt for sure!

Oh, and there is a 30 second water break after interval #5 which I thought was really cool!

The aerobic parts were really fun choreography, not too tricky, but some will take me another few times to nail down. Each blast is a blast! There really wasn't one of them that was "easy", just "easier" than one that will kick your butt!
I also like that where the 30 sec. water break comes will make this video easy to do in 2 parts. You could do a 30 minute interval workout by doing just the first 5 intervals on a day you want a good workout, or a quick interval workout but don't have an hour. :)

Boo Hoo. This is agony. Thanks for letting us in on Imax 2. I've got that one to look forward to. I was wondering what that infamous interval 9 was. OMG. It sounds like she went nuts on that one. :) Sounds sort of fun, maybe, could be, what am I thinking. It sounds brutal.

music............

The music was "rockin!" in the words of Cathe! :)

It's loud enough to really hear while you're working out, but I have to apologize for not remembering a single song at the moment! I was concentrating so hard on the choreo that although I could hear it and knew it was a nice track, I can't remember a single song! :( I only remember thinking, "Jillybean will like this music, she gets in to the music she's working out to!" Me, I still hear my heartbeat in my ear and my breathing and everything else is moot!

WOW Donna! You just went right for it didn't 'cha?! I am soooooo jealous of you right now! I haven't even gotten my confirmation from UPS yet and here you are stepping away to #2! I was actually hoping maybe Cathe would leave out those plyo jacks and tuck jumps! Ah,well guess I'll do the best I can, while falling on my face! ;-)
I'm very proud of you woman! Good Job! Susan

Thanks for the warning.. I'm going to do IMax2 tomorrow. I noticed Rhonda was using a 6" step versus her usual 8". That was a bit intimidating. I only watched the up to the first interval. I'm anxious to do it. I don't usually like to watch first but I was a bit curious on this one & had to peak.

Now that I'm coherent...............

I forgot to mention that another way this differs from Imax 1 is that there are no intervals that have the same move repeated 64 leg numbing times. The interval blasts have particular patterns, so it won't be 64 air born jacks, but a combo that includes plyo and air born jacks within another combo.

And Cathe is even more "real" in this video, you really get the feeling she made this video for "us." :)

I'll check out Boot Camp tomorrow! :)

RE: Sweet Donna!!!

I was so flattered that you thought of me during Imax II! If I am able to think at all while doing that video, I'll send a mental nod your way. I read the song list for this video and I cannot wait to do it!!!! I did Imax I today, because I am waiting for the DVDs to arrive. So Donna, have you done Muscle Endurance yet? Just wondering if you can magine doing two of those intervals in a row, followed by three segments from Muscle Endurance - because that's what Imax Extreme is. Yikes!!!!

Thanks, Donna, for your reviews. Can't wait for your take on Boot Camp after you've actually done it.

I like the fact that some of Cathe moves in IM2 are sort of like Mindy's stuff in EI. I dig that tape because of the athletic moves.

Just Do It! :)

I tried IMAX 2 for the first time today! The straddle taps took several tries to get pretty close to right, but I was pretty happy until interval #9 came along. The plie jacks almost took me out. By the last set, all that I could do was hop weakly in place with no hope of bringing my feet together in the middle. I couldn't have cared less what interval #10 was, just so long as it wasn't a repeat of #9!

IMAX2 was excellent!! I don't think though that I would have made it through if not for IMAX1!! It was different and fresh! And a challenge yet doable! Except for #9 -that was a killer!!
I actually look forward to Thurs when I get to do it again with PLB!

Cathy

I did this Saturday morning and boy was it an eye opener! :-wow I had fun though! I really think having done IMAX so much before did help. However, I don't think anything can really prepare you for #9! I don't know how Cathe comes up with this stuff but I'm so glad she does! Susan
