Hi everyone - I appreciate all the help I received when I asked the same question - what dvd to start out with. Well, I have now figured out that I like circuit work the best. Have been doing FIRM videos, running, biking, horses, etc - limited on time but want to see results. I suppose once I get started with Cathe dvd's that I will begin to figure this out on my own. Any help would be appreciated. My goal is to be lean and stronger!!!! I get SO excited when I see results! :D

From your list of exercises, I would imagine you aren't a "beginner." Cathe has a lot of great circuit workouts. The nice thing is, some of her non-circuits are made circuits through pre-mixes. I LOVE LIC (Low Impact Circuit). Body Max 2 is great if for no other reason than it's versatility. Even the Low Impact Step/Total Body Sculpting dvd that came with my step has a circuit pre-mix on it. All of the high step workouts are circuit, I believe.

A feature of Cathe's shop I really like is being able to select what type of dvd's you want. Here is a link to Cathe's circuit dvd section:

Thank you so much for your help. I keep reviewing and reviewing the clips from the dvd's and just end up confused. I will check out the ones you recommended! Thanks again. I really appreciate you taking the time to help :)

If you like circuits, go for Drill Max (my FAVE!), Low Impact Circuit, the Bootcamp/Muscle Endurance DVD and I'm going to throw in the 4 Day Split series as well. It's Cathe's most versatile workout I think. There are dozens of premixes that include some great circuits. But there's also some great, short cardio, some great weight work and awesome ab work.

I used to only do circuits as well (just preffered them and thought they were the most effective for me). I want to let you know, though, that you may be amazed at the results you see from doing Cathe's weight training workouts. Her Gym Styles series is so phenomenal, as is the 4DS weight work, and Pyramid Upper/Lower Body. These were life-changing for me once I gave them a chance. People tried over and over to get me to buy these and I just wasn't interested in weight work--I preferred to stick with circuits. Once I made the decision to give them a try, I was floored with the results I saw and how great I felt.

Just a thought. :)

Allison..

Are you sure you don't get a portion of every GS series sold?????....;)

Seriously, you were the one who talked me into it, and you could not have been more right!!!!

Great choice!

If you'd like to try both a circuit workout and a weight workout on the same DVD, you could check out ~ as mentioned by Allison ~ Boot Camp (circuit)/Muscle Endurance (weights). I hear there's also a killer premix on the DVD which mixes both into one tough workout ~ I haven't done it yet. :D

Jer-Bear, you're too funny! No, I swear Cathe keeps all the money. I just think she's the coolest EVAH....so I advertise for free. ;)

Is there any place to go to figure out how to set up a weekly workout

Wow! thanks alot for all the info. I did pyramid lower body last night and really liked it. I am stuck with the mindset that you get more with a circuit, so I am going to give Pyramid upper lower a good try. In the meantime I am going to order either BC, Low impact circuit or DM. I have just started getting into weights because after doing the FIRM consistently I have noticed such a difference and I just love it! Is there any place to go to figure out how to set up a weekly workout so that I don't overuse muscles>? Thanks again! I love it here!!

suzette- There is a Video and DVD Rotations on the main forum page. It is FULL of fun rotations based on your goals. I just kind of figured it out and started my first rotation this past week. I'm doing an old one of Cathe's that focuses on fat loss / cardio before I move into my first serious strength building rotation. There are rotations that Cathe provides every month and some from other really knowledgeable posters. There are stickies with the Cathe rotations- one works (the links) and the other doesn't, so try both if you're having trouble. Anyway, good luck and happy rotation hunting!

PUB is SUPER. We are the opposite- I feel like circuits are not enough and that I get more with weights only so I have to stick circuits in for variety :) Have fun exploring new workouts :D

Hi Suzette,
I just want to let you know that the Pyramid workouts are not circuit workouts. Even the bonus combo that combines upper and lower in NOT a circuit--just a full body weight workout.

Just thought I'd let you know since you had mentioned you wanted to try the "Pyramid Upper/Lower circuit workout" . :)

Whatever you do, enjoy!

HI,
4DS has 4 good circuit workouts-

1. Boot Camp Circuit Upper Body
2. Boot Camp Circuit Lower Body
3. Low Impact Circuit
4. Higher Intensity Circuit

4DS split is a great versatile workout. You can do just cardio, double cardio just weight work and circuits. i would definitely recommend this workout
