Hey fellow Cathe-ites,

Might I ask for your good vibes this coming Sunday? I will be running The Royal Victoria Marathon in Victoria, Canada, my third marathon in 12 months, gulp!!

It'll be my last one for a while (funny, I said that after #1 AND #2 :p), so I want to savor it. After this, it's back to half-marathons for me. At least for the near future, until I get that drive to train for another full.

Thanks in advance :).
Jennifer

Good Luck Jennifer!! Sending strong running vibes your way. I will also be running a marathon this Sunday. A trail marathon in Cali. I am also hoping to do 3 in a year with my last in Jan 2010. I did Napa last March...Let us know how it goes....

Jennifer AND Carole - Good luck to both of you -all the very best in your runs and savor every moment that you can...for me that would be none but the end! I am doing a duathlon Sunday but only running 2 miles, then biking 12, then running another 2. Those 4 total are more than enough for me :) I would rather bike 100 and run 0, but oh well - not like I am being forced or anything! I would seriously try for the Ironman if it weren't for the run. I don't see how you people run for so dang far :D

Most of all - HAVE FUN! I will be thinking about you -

Jennifermaria, Carole and Shana banana:

Good Luck Jennifer, what an amazing accomplishment.

Carole- good luck to you as well this Sunday. You have trained hard and will do awesome

As for me I'm running my first ever Marathon this Sat Oct 10th. Got to love the nerves at this point.

Good Luck and stong vibes this weekend.

Woo Hoo All of You! Yay! Best of luck...to each of you! Sending my good energy vibes. Please report back and lets us know all the details!;)

Oh my, I'm so glad I opened this one! I'm doing the half in Victoria this Sunday! Next year I want to do the full.... Where did you run your other two? Do you live on the island? My one and only marathon was Grandma's in Deluth, MN... took 4 hours and 47 min I wished I had a buddy to run that one. Might have been easier???

Good luck!

Oh, where are you going to park? That worries me a bit.

Good luck and enjoy!

I'm doing another 5K on Sunday as well (unless the weather is bad: I'm not die-hard enough to walk in the bitter cold, pouring rain, or other miserable weather!). I'll be thinking of you !

Wendy Marie: so cool! I am from Northern CA, so I'll be traveling to Victoria especially for this race. I'm very excited, since it's my first time in Victoria--I've heard great things :). My friends and I will be flying in tomorrow and doing "high tea" at the Empress Hotel.

I'll let you know how the full is! From what I can see, it's bound to be beautiful.

My first one was last October at the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco, so, um... hills. Lots o' hills :p.

My second one was in March at Napa--nice, gentle rolling hills (WAY flatter than SF), BUT it rained, so that wasn't super fun. But it was a very nice course and I may do it again someday because I bet it's gorgeous when it's not raining. I did a half there in July and it was absolutely stunning (though hot).

And wow, wow, I so envy your time! I'm not exactly fast--my first was 6:23 and my second was 5:48. I'm shooting for 5:30 this time around, but we'll see.

Thanks, Kathryn! Sending you good weather vibes :). I think they're forecasting rain in Victoria for our marathon, but I'm hoping that doesn't happen!

We've had such great weather lately. I drop the kids off at school at 8:00 and head out (after a chat or two). I think the van said it was 44 this morning. I've been wearing pants, a light t-shirt and a light jacket. No wind up island although I here that early in the morning in Victoria it can get breezy and chilly. (I live about a 45 min drive north of downtown) I plan on throwing a layer off, clothing donated to charity. Also, I've been starting with gloves. Mountain Equipment Coop has some nice light weight gloves (right on Government Street). Be sure to check out Lulu Lemon just around the corner. If you like tea, there is a great tea shop Silk Road (angelwater, red bush chai and japanese sour cherry are all yummy). You know, we live here and we still haven't checked out everything Victoria has to offer! Haven't done high tea, waiting for the rain to set in and the prices to go down! Rebar is a neat local juice bar-and they have a cookbook, nice thing to have to remember your day! I bought a pie book to remember the Duluth one.

I wonder why they don't start the races later on in the day. Probably traffic is the main reason. Oh well, by the time you make the turn to head back downtown the sun should be shining brightly. As far as rain, I heard it's on the way for Monday. Let's hope that's true!
