Despite this being an open discussion forum IMHO some things are best left unsaid. I mean after all, one could bring up a discussion about explosive diarrhea, projectile vomiting, and inbreeding. It is in open forum, right? But most agree the general public gathered here would prefer not to hear about these things. Same goes for politics and religion in my view. Unfortunately, such discussions have the tendency to degenerate quickly into, well 4th grade, melees, and will often do not prompt people to change their opinions. I think there are far more appropriate forums for political discussions where like minded peeps can chew the fat, and even spit it at another if they like. Of course, this is just my opinion and I am not offended if you disagree. I am just tired of the mud slinging I see on the television and hate to see it happening here. I just don't think "partisan politics" when I think of Cathe.com and I hope that doesn't change ;)

Normally I like a good debate but lately I don't have the stomach for it. I feel like I have enough stress in my life right now, and when I come on the forums I just want to have fun! Sure, I want to learn some things and be of help to someone else whenever I can, but I also want to be able to put my cares aside and have a good laugh! There's enough hardship and sadness in the world right now. I prefer to focus on what I have in common with people and not be torn apart by things that make us different.

Well, I beg to differ....WITH MISS LEE! I love Beavs more than anyone, and if I were rich, and we didn't both like men so much, and the uh um, "attributes" they bring, she and I would be heading west to get hitched. Now, Missy Lee, do you want to take this outside???:mad:

Sorry to be a dissenting voice here, but if no one wanted to discuss/debate hot topics like politics and religion, then there would far fewer posts to those threads than what we typically see.

I personally find the debate to be pretty interesting and enlightening for the most part, as long as folks can refrain from personal attacks (which I KNOW we can do). I never expect anyone to be converted, but I've found in some cases that I've gotten a better understanding of someone else's view...even if I don't agree with it.
