If Only I Could Carry The Bathroom Mirror Around With Me!

Does this happen to anyone else?

I apply my make-up, fix my hair nicely, and think I look like Cindy freakin' Crawford as I march out of my bathroom.

Then I see photos of myself on that very same day, and I look...um...not so great. In fact, I look like

* I hardly have any make-up on at all,
* I didn't even bother styling my hair,
* and I'm in desperate need of more sleep and perhaps a blood transfusion.

What the heck?!

Yes, definitely. And how come I look thinner in my bathroom mirror with no clothes on than I do in any other mirror, fully clothed?

I can totally relate!

My worst experience is at the hairdresser. I always fix my hair before I go because I think it makes it easier for her to see what I want and what needs to be done. Well, before I leave I always think I look *good* but as soon as I sit down in her chair and look in that mirror I honestly think, *I can't believe I walked out of the house like this, I look awful.*

I have no idea why her mirror does this to me. :) I would think the whole idea would be for me to think I look good when I'm there. I can't possibly look as bad as that mirror makes me seem, can I?:D

Oh my gosh yes! This happens more than I care to admit. :D My skin always looks more blotchy than I think it does at home. That, and when I look in store mirrors I always think I look rather lumpy.

ROFLMAO!!!

Why? Because this is me EVERY morning! I don't wear makeup (but probably should!), but I have curly, coarse, frizzy long hair. I put everything, PLUS the kitchen sink in it, check it in the mirror and by the time I get to work - bbbbllllttttt - it looks like crap! It's frizzIER, all over the place and you can't tell I didn't just roll out of bed!

Gadzooks, that was me yesterday with the humidity! I can usually keep my curls under control (Herbal Essence Max Hold Gel, I hate that it's full of crappy chemicals but it WORKS 99 percent of the time!!) but yesterday was impossible. By the end of the day I looked like I was wearing a fright wig.

Bwaaaaa Haaaa Haaaa! I feel like I can laugh because I'm right there with you! I'll have to try that stuff! Nothing else I've tried works, even the so-called anti-frizz stuff! I've tried almost all of it.

Yes, this happens to me all the time! Most recently was a few days ago. Fixed my hair real cute, had on a cute tank top, thought I was stylin'...went to a restaurant with a friend and ate on the outside deck by the lake. A lovely summer day.

Pictures were taken....grrrrr.... In the pics: my hair looked like a Cocker Spaniel's...my face was shiny...my head was as big as a beach ball...and my boobs and body looked swollen....My friend looked totally normal...

I feel your pain!!!!

Lori,

We must have the same mirror.

Makeup wears off. Hair falls. And, we all need to get more iron? :p I bet you would be surprised at how much makeup we cake on the guys in a movie let alone the amount of make up on the girls! In person they look like a drag queen. The cameras really do make you look bad. Thats why a good photographer is worth the expense. Also, bring a hair and make up girl before you get a picture taken. I know how you feel, I don't get in front of the camera either!

Oh, I agree completely -- I look terrible in photos, and I don't think that's always been true.

And, Pippa, the hairdresser's mirror is just evil!!!! It must be the lighting or something.

This is why I refuse to have my picture taken. They camera never lies, . . . at least in my world it doesn't. I need one of those programs that air brush your face perfect, and help you to lose 10 lbs, . . .maybe I should talk to the graphics design team w/SELF magazine?
By the way Lori, . . I'm sure you looked fine, . .you probably put Cindy Crawford to shame . . . we are all our own worst critic. Anyhow I should show you my drivers lic. pic, . . .that would scare just about anyone.
