I returned my calendar

That was my take as well. Usually a business will at least write in complete sentences, ie 'we're sorry...' instead of just 'sorry...'. It really made SNM look rude and flippant. The complete opposite of "sorry".

Maybe the person who wrote it is used to text-ing and truncating their sentences to save time/money. Still, private life is one thing and business is another.

~Nadine~

I would have to agree and some of the people here have bought virtually everything Cathe and attended multiple road trips. I would hate to think of those experiences tainted by a flippant "love it or leave it" attitude on the part of SNM.

Hmmm....I didn't see SNM's reply as rude or harsh. Just perfunctory/to the point.

"Sorry" instead of "I'm sorry" seems very much like normal conversational speak, which is what many people use in forum messages.

Was the unedited version nasty or something? I don't get it.

I totally agree with you, Beavs. I was also put off by the flippant response from SNM. I am also shocked that they would edit a person's response in such a manner. Why wouldn't they just delete the entire post or the thread instead of changing their response and then changing the part of the poster's response which made it make sense. That left most people confused as to the poster's response and the response of others. To me it made the poster seem silly and her response confusing and uncalled for. Thus, taking the heat off of SNM. Totally uncalled for. ....let the flames begin.... :(

I had the exact same thoughts when I realized that SNM edited someone else's post.

Hmmmh, perfunctionary and to the point may have a place in engineering and technical issues but not in customer service.

I have never had any complaints about SNM, in fact, I mostly found their customer service to be excellent and they always were were professional in their answers in asking people to contact customer service directly by email or phone.

I found that SNM's post in this case came across as rude, arrogant and unprofessional. However, what really shook my confidence is the fact that they not only changed their post but also another forum member's post (where they were quoted) to cover up their mistake. Which quite frankly now makes me rethink if I really want to spend several hundred $$ on their new products if their customer service is now like their post indicates.

OK, let's all take a breath here. We don't know who was on the other end of that post. We don't know if s/he was having a particularly bad day, or if it was someone who doesn't normally work in CS & is filling in b/c of vacation schedules, or if s/he was just embarassed & was trying to hide her/his embarassment.

In the spirit of the holidays, can we just chalk it up to a boo boo & move on? And not allow this to reflect on Cathe or her organization as a whole? Pretty please with snowflakes on top? :)

And quit making me be the voice of reason. It doesn't suit me. ;):D:cool:

Computer responses leave SO much to interpretation. I think we could analyze SNM's response, not to mention a bazillion people on here, until the cows came home.

*looks off into horizon*

*blink blink*

I think the cows are inside admiring their pretty Cathe calendar. Rumor has it, they might come back when we find something more interesting to debate.

We have never intentionally edited another users post and this is not something we would ever do. We simply tried to correct a spelling error that was pointed out to us in our post, but by mistake edited another users post and for that I apologize. Until yesterday I didn't even know we could do that. In our old forum software this was not even possible. With the new forum software it is very easy to make this mistake and I'm sure there is a toggle switch I can turn off to prevent this in the future. The only thing we changed was the spelling of "except" which was changed to "accept".

But I would hope after one million threads and over a decade of forums on our site users would realize that this was not intentional and just an honest mistake. As far as threads go this was not at all very critical or harsh and I've seen far worse. If we were to edit other users threads we would not start with this one. Pointing out spelling mistakes is not something that bothers me at all as we all make them.

If that is the case then a customer should be able to return a calendar because it is not a DVD, VHS, or membership. I think it is bad CS to not let someone return a calendar. After all, they did buy it on good faith. If the customer had seen photos or sample months before hand then I would back up a no return policy on the calendar. Personally I'm not interested in a calendar that worships everything Cathe. Before someone stones me, I have almost every DVD that Cathe has released and even preordered nearly all of them to boot. I think too many people loose site of the fact that she is just a regular person who happens to be a good instructor.

Calendar

We clearly stated on our Calendar Order Form that "all sales were final" and this was a limited edition Calendar. We only placed Calendar orders for what was ordered by our customers. Calendars have only a limited time value and thus we don't allow returns.

People who purchase our calendar do so because they happen to like Cathe and want a fitness calendar, not because they worship her. Cathe has never claimed to be anything but a regular person and that is why so many people like her.

Eek!

I certainly regret what a big fiasco this became!

I simply forgot that the calendar is non-returnable. An unfortunate mistake from someone who, admittedly, can be very flighty!

As it is, the calendar is on its way back to you, and I sincerely apologize in advance the problem this has created for your company.:(

I am sure everything will work out for the best.

Deep breath. On the lighter side, I only have to teach one more day before winter break! Hooray! :D

Now,... how 'bout that TImothy Hutton, eh???

No stones from me, I just thought you would like to know that a sample was shown (this is what the calendar looks like except on the final version this is the month of September). This picture is a good example of what I received today and the words "All sales final" are clearly stated on the form. I completely understand why you are not interested in the calendar. I didn't order one last year. But to be fair, SNM made the calendars available only after many requests were made asking for this product. I have mentioned before that I see Cathe as a regular person who is good at her job, so calendar or no calendar we both feel the same on that point.
OOPS, just one more thing, I am happy with my purchase.

I got my calendar yesterday and although I cancelled my STS order, I am still happy with the calendar. I put the calendar in my workout room and there is nothing I'd rather have in its place for the motivational value.

I don't plan on using my stickers so if anyone would like them, please feel free to PM me your address and I'll send them to you. I have a bunch from last year, year before too...

Good Heavens...Everyone that posts under "SNM" are freakin' SAINTS if ya ask me....Well you didnt but I decided to tell you anyway;)...
Now I know why my business will never be as large and successful- I'm not willing to put up with rude comments...Feedback is good- insults? Well it just isnt right..... Bless all of you at SNM for being exactly who you are & doing what you do! *mwah*

Um, I don't think anyone was being rude at all. Some people didn't like the calendar but were not rude about it. Tamster made a joke. If anything, some people need to lighten up a tad. 'Tis the season and all.......

Thanks for posting this Jordan. I wonder why I was charged $22.99 since I don't live in Canada. I've contacted customer service already, but just wanted to post a heads up for others if they are in the same situation.

Personally, I bought the calendar and I don't feel like I am worshiping Cathe(that's me)..I use it for motivation. Maybe others feel the same. I realize Cathe is a regular person I haven't lost sight of that.

Same here!
Geez, that was rather insulting.:( I bought the calendar specifically to go with my STS program. I just received it and it's perfect for my needs. This is my first Cathe calendar so I have nothing to compare it to. I bought it because it looked STS related.
I like the STS stickers:) It will be easier to post a sticker and keep everything neat and tidy.

Other than the fact that I ordered the first calendar, I could have written this post.

I'm happy that I ordered this one :D!

(Personally I like my calendar and it's fine because I'm getting STS. It's understandable if others are not as pleased, though).

I just wonder what the heck the quote below has to do with anything that preceded it. It has nothing to do with the rest of the thread. It's just weird.

People who purchase our calendar do so because they happen to like Cathe and want a fitness calendar, not because they worship her. Cathe has never claimed to be anything but a regular person and that is why so many people like her.
