I need a good moisturinzing under eye concealer

I've been using Prescriptives, which worked fine during the summer but now it seems to be making my wrinkles look even worse! It covers the shadows pretty well but it looks kind of flaky & dry looking.

So give me some recs please. Preferably something that'll make my skin look about 10 years younger. ;-)

I have a friend that swears by Neutrogena's Visibly Firm Eye Treatment Concealer. She says her eye area feels firmer and it helped with the dark circles. I tried it, but I have oily skin and it was too moisturizing for me.

I love Clinique's Moisture On Call. It's thick and rich, so I only use it at night. It feels so good, and the lines around my eyes have all but disappeared. I live on a little island just below the Arctic Circle, so if it works for me here in the dry cold, I know it will work for you.

Laura Mercier creme concealer has a great consistency & coverage.
That's my favorite. Also, Pixie Beauty has a great one that comes in a "pen" w/built in brush (sephora.com)- i really like that one, too.

HTH!

Keep smiling & sweating!

Sorry, LauraMax, I missed the word "concealer." I just use the moisture-on-call at night, and then Bare Minerals concealer during the day, which isn't moisturizing, but the eye cream at night does the job.

Hi Laura,
It's called botox--I'm just teasing. I have the same problem, man you gotta love aging. I read that "maturing" women should wear tinted moisturizer because it doesn't get caught in the creases. I think that holds true for me, I hate the look of concealer caked in the wrinkles, but on the bright side it is Halloween. I am turning the big 4 0 in November.

I like Estee's Night Repair for the Eyes.

But I use whatever.

At 53, I have just resigned myself to the ravages of age.

LOL Keli, I'm already on the botox bandwagon, but I use it for my frown lines & I refuse to get it around my eyes. The wrinkles around my eyes are smile lines & I'd prefer to keep them. :) I just don't want them looking all dry & flaky--it seems to add another 5-10 years to my skin.

Interesting that you mention tinted moisturizer b/c I started using the Prescriptives Traceless foundation instead of the concealer. It's not as thick & it looks much better than the concealer, but I wanted something just a bit more, umm, concealing.

Isn't it strange how the older your skin looks, the less makeup you should use?

I'm turning 40 in March. I'm crapping my pants. I know I shouldn't be, but I can't help it. x(

Me too, and I keep asking myself why--is it so bad? Then I rationalize that it's the stupid medias fault for glamorizing youth. You know, I'll just blame them for my insecurities, which I think is healthy, yeah healthy that's it.

Your post couldn't be more timely (pun intended) I am making a trip to the dermatologist today and I am definitely considering the botox, but I'm feeling like ---is there a way to just dunk my whole head in the stuff? Stop the wrinkles! Please! So...back to foundations and tinted moisturizers--I tried dermalogica foundation and I mix it with Neutrogina sunscreen before applying, but even that is not looking as smooth as I would like. I find that just the sunscreen makes my skin look better. I might just make a trip to the Prescriptives counter though--thanks for the tip. Oh you know I have one other make-up tip perhaps you know this one, Urban Decay has sort of a flesh colored eye cream that you use to make your eye shadow stick. It's truly amazing--I got it at Sephora.

Happy Friday to you!

Youth is glamorous! :+ I've actually started to accept the aging process & even though I get botox I use it judiciously. Truthfully I'm kind of sharp featured & I think some of my wrinkles have given me a softer look. Exept the wrinkles that make me look pi$$ed off. That's where the botox goes. ;-)

I definitely want a liquid concealer. Lancombe used to make a wonderful liquid concealer that came in a zillion shades. I loved it, so naturally they discontinued it. :(

I don't nor do I ever plan to use Botox. That is not to say it is good for some people.

I prefer to age the old fashioned way at least for now. Naturally, I never say never.

Cosmetic surgery is so expensive and sometimes a person looks worse after the surgery.

Estee Lauder makes a great concealer. It is in a blue tube.

I still use the same amout of makeup I used years ago, although I do pay attention to formulas made for drier skin.

Avon has just released a new elixir and night cream that I am loving! You can get great prices on them at Ebay.

I think the true fountain of youth consists of regular exercise.

Bobbi Brown's is pretty nice, I guess. I've been using it and it seems all right. I don't like the price tag....

You're doing Botox at 39?

Donna, I've been using botox for 5 years now. I started when I lived in VA & it was a delightful $125. I won't even say what I'm paying now!

I keep hearing about this Bobbi Brown but have never tried it. Maybe I'll check it out.

I did it, I got the botox too. Not a lot, just for my mouth area. I have to say that genetics just aren't on my side, my mom's side of the family are all pale raisin faces, then on top of it, I was a tennis player growing up and my nose and cheeks were fried every summer to the point of peeling and scabbing. "They" say that what you see on your skin now is a result of the damage that was done when you were younger--I'm doing my penance now. Although there was a time although brief when I thought wrinkles were cool---when I was in second grade my teacher had the coolest forehead wrinkles and I would practice trying to wrinkle my forehead to look like her. What can I say, such a dorky kid. The worst part is I don't even have cool forehead wrinkles, no I have those little lip wrinkles, the make-up counter ladies love to confirm this so that they can force their products that don't work on me--anyway, I have never smoked, will never smoke, but I have those stupid pucker wrinkles.

They say we are our hardest critics--that might be true, but doesn't it stink when the make-up counter people confirm it?

I get it around my mouth too Keli, and between my eyes. Not my entire forehead b/c I don't want to look like I'm wearing a mask, but I cannot stand those fish hooks between my eyes! Like you, way too much sun damage--I have a skin problem that requires UV light (ironic, no?) & I've been tanning since I was 14. I started covering my face in my early 30s but the damage was already done. :(

Laura Max,
Please share your Dermatologist's info if you lived in Northern VA, I am in Alexandria. I am not planning on using Botox for now, but I can see what's coming to me soon. Eczema dried out my skin and some fine lines appeared. Of course, I do not want to "look angry". neither.

I live in Chatham, NJ and would love to know who your dermatologist is. I am 52 and have my nephew's wedding in a few weeks and wanted some professional help. Sometimes I catch my reflection in a window and I say who the hell is that!!! I use Lancome's Maquicomplet concealer and love it. It comes in a black, think tube with a wand for easy application.
Thanks,
Arlene

Hi Laura,

I have one of Bobbi Brown's concealers, but actually stopped using it because it makes the wrinkles under my eyes look much worse. It just sinks into the crevices, so I eventually stopped using it, which was frustrating because it cost so much!

Someone mentioned the Touche Eclat concealer, but the Boots line at Target makes a great knock-off version. I've switched from my BB concealer to the Boots one, and really like it. It comes with a built-in brush, and adds a nice glow, without sinking into the fine lines.

The wrinkles on the rest of my face aren't too bad, but, at 36, the ones under my eyes just drive me nuts. Ah, well!
