I'm just wondering who else has weighted gloves and what difference it made? I'm just curious if I should start right out with the 2lbs in there or start of slow......with one pound? I've never used them...I don't want to go gungho and wear myself out five minutes into the workout...hehe...

Hi Iris,

congrats on your new toy! I would try one pound first and go from there! You always add more weigh, right! ! Let me know how you like them! Did you buy them from Cathe's website?

I got my weighted gloves Wed. and did Kelly Coffey Meyer's Cardio Kick Step Boxing (love that DVD!!) with 1/2 pound on each hand as I didn't want to overdo it and be sore for Thursday since we had to move my son into his dorm.:( I wasn't sore Thurs. but definitely felt the extra weight during the workout and could feel my arms getting fatigued. I think I read you should work up to the weighted gloves so either take some weight off to start or only use the gloves for part of the workout to begin with. Have fun!!

Will the weighted gloves work for lifting? Can you hold a dumbbell (or barbell) comfortably with these? I was thinking they might be nice for micro-loading since they have 1/3 pound increments for each hand.

I have some 6 oz and 10 oz magnets, but those don't work for my neoprene covered dumbbells.

And I know there are MicroLoading gloves yet to come, but who can wait that long? ;)

Dianna I will take that advice and start with the 1/2 lb. in each...
I did buy them from cathe's website! They're the one's she's wearing at the top of the page....^^^....:) I don't think they would be good for lifting though, becuase there's no grip on the palm..it's just open...
Well I can't wait until my next KB workout!

I just bought a pair. Can't wait for them to get here!

Iris,
I put some weighted glove advice in one of my blog entries (because it's stuff I've repeated several times, and seems to be useful to some).

I have weighted gloves and never use them anymore  I used them with CTX KB for a while. Started for just part of the w/o and increased how long I had them on. I began to get elbow pain. Couldn't figure out why. Then suddenly it dawned on me:confused: Stopped using the gloves and the pain went away. I am not saying this will happen to you. Just giving a word of caution. Have fun, but go slow with it!!! And pay attention to your body's response to it! ;)

I need some weighted gloves for Rumble, which is due to arrive this week. I checked my local sports stores for 1 lb. Everlast weighted gloves but there were no weighted gloves to be found anywhere.

Cathe's seem reasonably priced (surprisingly) based on the $20.00 Amy Bento paid for her Everlast weighted gloves. How did you know which size to get and did I read correctly that Cathe's gloves can be adjusted to 1 lb. each or am I totally off base here? TIA!

I definitely agree with Catherine. I do use weighted gloves, or 1 lb dumbbells when I'm doing a workout that isn't too fast, but I took the advise of my cardio kickboxing instructors. They are Tae Kwon Do instructors, and the cardio kickboxing they teach us is super fast. They don't recommend the use of weighted gloves. Now I know why. Now I only use them when I'm doing a slower paced kickboxing workout. I would use them with something like Rumble, but I don't think I'd use them with Kick, Punch & Crunch. Also, I find 1 lb. is really my max. The ones that came with my turbo jam workouts tend to get too heavy for me to workout safely.

Enjoy your new gloves. I myself am looking for a comfortable handwrap. I love the ones Cathe and crew used in Kickmax.

I have been using weighted gloves for years now, I have 1.5 pound each gloves they are not adjustable but I like them. I read where you shouldn't go over 2 but that may not be true.

I feel a difference when I don't wear them.

Enjoy them:D

Yikes...now I'm afraid the weighted gloves will be short lived!!! lol I don't think I have a KB workout coming up again for a bit (I'll have to check with the next rotation I'm starting)

Kathryn- Your blog was incredibly helpful!! Thanks so much!

And as far was knowing what size to order? I have very small hands.....hehe
