I hope my son does well

I'll be thinking of both of you today. My son went through this last July. He is now at ITB ( Infantry training battalion) at Camp Lejeune. This is just the first of MANY rollercoater rides you will be on when/if he joins. It's totally worth it though and if you ever need someone to "talk" to as you go through the process - feel free to PM me. What branch is he hoping to join?

You Ladies should be extremely proud of your young heros. God bless them! Best wishes to you all.

How did everything work out for your son? Hope everything has been going smoothly and your son finds a job that best suits his skills and passion. Agreeing with the other mother about the roller coaster ride. I can't remember how often and long I prayed for my ds when he went through bootcamp a year and a half ago.:) I can't wait to see him when he comes home from Germany for the holidays!!!:)

Blessings,
Wendy

I just got a call he is on the bus ride back. He did height out at 5'9" so he was under his weight requirement. He was like 5'8 ish when he was checked at the recruiters office so he had to be under 180# for 5'8" and under 186 for 5'9" but he weighed in at 176.

He scored very well on his ASVAB. Qualified for every job he was interested in. He took his oath and is now in the delayed entry program for the Air Force and awaits a basic training date. I'm told this could be 3-6 months.

I'm so very proud of him ! He can't wait to get home and get some real food ! He has been eating soup for a week.

Thanks for the replies and good wishes.

Congratulations! I am so happy for both of you. I know how hard it is to wait for news when it's so important to our sons. My son did DEP also but went to Marine boot so I can't help you with specifics of Air Force basic. The military has a way of changing by the minute so as they say in the Marines " Semper Gumby" ( always flexible) Be prepared for dates and times to change constantly. I wrote my son every day during boot and he told me some days that's what got him through the grueling training. So write him often no matter what he tells you. Please tell him congrats from me and I wish him well in his
new career. BTW - Ask his recruiter if there is a website for Air Force parents. The Marine site for parents was a God send as we got through boot and other trainings. The support is unbelievable.

Great news!
