I had the surgery for my foot!

Eleven months of plantar fasciitis is hopefully about to end since I had an Instep Plantar Fasciotomy yesterday! I have done the whole kit and kaboodle as far as treatment goes so I hope this does it since nothing else has. I am feeling pretty postive since my heel already is pain free although my arch is aching like a @#$@#$ right now! I'll be seeing my poditrist later today to change my bandage and I hope to get an idea how long it will be before I can dust off my step and pull out my running shoes! Wish me luck! I have been bummed and haven't been hanging out in the forums like I used to since I have been unable to think of myself as a fit nut as I once did but, look out, I am coming back as quickly as the incision heals and my foot will cooperate! I have a great feeling about this!

Yeah! I'm so happy for you! I hope you are able to get back into working out. Do you think you'll be able to run?

Hi Bobbi,
Here's to a speedy recovery. A friend of mine had the same operation and he is doing just great now. Looking forward to seeing you back at your workouts and hearing from you.

Hi, Bobbi!!! Wow.....I'm pulling for you. I sure hope you are back to tip-top form and can go to it!!! Keep us posted. :)

I know this is going to be fine and, ever the optimist, I pre-ordered the new stuff! I have last years series too and haven't used them yet so I have much to look forward to! My heel feels great! Of course, I have an incision in the arch and I am hobbling around pretty badly but I am a good healer and it should be a few weeks until I can do SOMETHING and a few months to takle the rest. It's all very exciting! I miss my endorphins and all the great stuff that goes with them! And I thank you for your well wishes, fitness goddesses!

Congratulations!! I'm sure this will be the end of all your suffering! You must be so impatient to finally get back to exercising. But now the end is finally in sight!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery,
Nancy

Oh, Bobbi, I am so happy for you! I hope you heal completely soon!

I have just injured my left foot today so I'm right there with ya.

I did it by grabbing a rope with my toes- must have strained a muscle-I was on the pool floatie, like a floating mattress on the swimming pool. I was pulling myself toward "shore" with a rope my hubby rigged up, holding the rope with my toe insted of fingers. I was holding a book with my hands. What a silly way to hurt yourself :p

Connie, I'm impressed that you can pull yourself in with your toes! I hope the injury is minor and heals quickly. I have learned to appreciate feet and all they do for the rest of the body! A foot injury can put the whole thing out of kilter! Yesterday was the third day and I felt awful but I think I am over that hump now and I just have to be paient. I am slow and stiff but not too uncomfortable so I can deal with this. I have to keep my stitches for what seems to me a very long time but my husband speculates that that is because the bottom of the foot is the thickest part of the body and the incision went completely through all the layers of skin. My podiatrist told me it was a pleasure to operate on slim feet and to find the facsia right there under the skin and not to have to hunt around for it. Strange compliment but I liked it!

Hi, Edith!

My foot is a little sore and it's hard keeping up with my kids and their quick feet, but I am amazed by the results of the surgery. As far as the PF goes, the symptoms are gone! It used to be, after being on my feet all day or sitting for any length of time, I would be unable to step on that foot with out walking on my toes or limping but thathas disappeared as has the heel pain. Even the incision isn't too painful. I overdid it yesterday but I feel remarkably well and can't wait to get the stitches out and to feel comfortable in my orthotics so I can get going! Thanks for asking!

Bobbi,

So glad you're healing on schedule! My foot felt better right away, just walking slowly for a couple of days afterwards! I am so glad it was not a long term injury.

I'm also glad you got a new addition to your smile! That always feels better.

Take care!
