I got my little bubble burst today

My 16w pants have been fitting really loose so i thought i would treat myself to a new outfit. I tried on a pair of 16p not knowing that there was a real difference. It was too tight!! I wanted to cry. I thought the only difference would have been the length.

Pants very in size from brand to brand. I wear a size 10/12. In my LLbean jeans that I LOVE, I wear a size 14. So don't let one pair of pants burst your bubble... HUGS...

Hey don't worry albeiner. I think when you buy petites many times they are scaled down all over. I have a pair of capris that I bought in my usual size but petite so they hit me in the right spot. This one pair is the tighest pair I have! Don't let crazy american sizing get you down!!! You know you're way ahead of the game so keep on going!

and to add insult to injury.... one of my coworkers just lost 30 lbs doing some detox diet. she said to me, well if they arent dragging on the ground maybe the womens size is better for you! you would have to know her to know why I took offense to it. but anyway... i did!

I think the rule of thumb for petites is that you need to go up 2 sizes from regular, so don't be hard on yourself. If your 16W's felt loose, I'm sure that's a true reflection of your current status. Congratulations on the loose fitting pnats!

Michele:)

Sizes with the 'W' typically have a bit more room in the waist and hips. Pants with a 'P' in the size have a shorter inseam as well as just being shorter so they'll usually sit a little lower on your waist. Sizing varies wildly between different manufacturers though. If your 16w pants are feeling loose then you're definitely on the right track. Just get a new outfit that fits and don't worry about what's on the label.

I have heard this mentioned before on this forum about pants size. I have a average size that I usually wear, but I can wear smaller or sometimes have to go larger depending on the cut. The slight difference in size should not matter to you!!!!!!! I don't let it bother me. Don't let it get to you!

Oh, I also have some size 12 pants that are tight and some size 10 pants that fit perfectly and one pair of size 9 junior's pants that are too big.

I agree with what everyone else has already said. Pants vary so much. Don't let it discourage you and get you off track.

I can attest to the scaling down of petite sizes. I tried on identical pairs of 4s this weekend...one regular, the other petite. The petite's fit me a size smaller.

Not to worry :)

As everyone here has stated you can't really compare the two pairs of pants for all of the reasons stated. Revel in the fact that the pants that you have been wearing are now looser...that's what matters most...and that's your true gauge of success!!! That's great news, and should be proof to you that you are most certainly on the right track!!! Keep up the great work!!

Pants suck.

Loose pants suck a little less than non-loose pants, but they all suck anyway.

Chin up!!!!

Petite are definetly smaller. Generally I'd say they are almost a full size smaller for me.

Don't let it get you down.

And the good news is..................your old pants are too big. That means that YOU ARE SMALLER.....way to go!!

I'll buy one size at Kohl's but go to Target and I cannot get one leg into that same size. I need to go up a size depending on the store.

When I was working on loosing the post baby weight, I kept wearing the baggy pants as long as I possibly could! It made me feel better wearing something that was getting more and more baggy, versus something that fit more snug. I would hold out until I reached some sort of goal before treating myself to something that fit better.
