I can relate..............

to your pain. I was teaching a bootcamp class in October 2004, and ruptured my achilles, and tore a part of my gastroc. To make a long story short, the tendon was beyond repair. So when I went in for surgery, they had to totally remove my achilles tendon and replace it with the FHL tendon (a tendon that connects to the big toe), and extend the tendon that connects to all the other four toes to my big toe. A total re-construction.

I have yet to return back to teaching and I won't anytime soon because I can't stay off of my feet. Just the act of walking alone is a huge setback for the recovery process. So to say the least, please take it easy Cathe. We all need you, and who knows what may happen as a result of this injury if you go back too soon:-( .

Love ya,
Candy

Oh my goodness Candy! I am so sorry to hear of your rupture and enormous reconstruction procedure. This is a huge undergoing, as you are well aware. My heart goes out to you as well as my prayers. I do believe you still have a ways ahead of you but don't lose your spirit. Its the only thing that gets you through it. When I had my ACL reconstruction, though nowhere near what you had done, I gained a whole new level of respect for my body. I have never since taken it for granted and am thankful everday for all I have been given. You will get through this Candy. Baby steps (literally)and I am sure you will cry tears of joy when you take your first few pain free steps....but that day will come :) I wish you all the best and I sincerly mean that. Please keep me posted on your progress.

Candy -- Best to you as well. Take good care of yourself, and like Cathe said, your spirit will get you through it!
