As some of you know, I have never been able to run and have never enjoyed running. I tried running about 3 years ago with my husband and hated it because I just gasped for air, and my chest always felt like it was going to explode. Well, this morning I decided to try again because I keep hearing how good running is for toning your legs. I figured I would run 30 seconds and then walk 30 seconds. I went out and ran a WHOLE MILE without having to stop. And I wasn't even that winded. I then decided to walk for a couple minutes and then ran for another half mile without stopping. This is such a major thing for me! I know it's from doing Cathe that I now have the ability to do something I've always wanted to do, but was just not fit enough to do!!!
I am just beaming today! Sorry to ramble, but I had to share!!!

GO KATIE!!! That's amazing. Congrats. Doesn't it feel SO good when you make a major accomplishment like that?

Soon you'll be signing up for 5 k's, then 10's. Before you know it, you'll be running marathons!;)

That is GREAT news Katie!! I just posted in another thread how I had a hard time at first with it too and now I'm training for a marathon! You can do anything you put your mind to doing! My mom always told me that and she was right!!!!!!!!! :D

I'm so happy for you!!!!!! http://www.weddingchat.com/images/smilies/clap2.gif

How very exciting!! I'm here applauding very loudly at your achievement. I, too, am no runner, but I aspire to be! Your post has encouraged me tremendously to just "go for it". Thank you so much for sharing your great news! Good for you! You go, girl! Keep smiling!

Katie,

That's great! I posted on Joann's thread that I'm horrible at running. My goal too is to run 1 mile nonstop. Right now I'm still doing intervals.

Katie, how exciting, congrats on your running!!! It was always a lifelong dream of mine to run a marathon but during my 20's and early 30's every time I tried to run my joints would flare up and I'd have to stop running. Was later diagnosed with lupus which affects my joints. Once I found that out I was able to manage the symptoms and in combination with my increased fitness level (because of workouts like Cathe's) I was able to start running again. I just did my 8th marathon last weekend!! So never give up!!

Thank you ladies for all your kind words, and for not making me feel silly for being so excited about this. Now all I want to do is go out again and try for 2 miles!:7

Way to go!!!! I think your endurance improves alot when your doing Imax 2, lowmax or Aerobics (cardio related). At least thats how I got started with running. I remember I just finished some aerobics and I felt like I had so much more energy at the end that I just decided to run out the door and down the road. Once I got going, I didn't stop.

I am so happy for you!

Charlotte~~:) :*

Katie!! Good job....I am so proud of you...:)...what a great feeling huh???...keep up the good work and take it slow...:)...Carole
