Husband coming home from Iraq!!!

Armywife

Cathlete
Hey everyone,

My husband is coming home from Iraq on Oct. 26. I am soooooooooo excited. He is in the Army and has been deployed for 11 months. This is his fourth deployment within the last 4 1/2 years but this has been the longest. He was deployed to Iraq in 2003 at the very beginning of the war for four months and I thought that was long. Now I know what long really is. I truly hope we don't have to go through another year long deployment any time soon. It is so hard especially because we have a daughter who just turned 4 and a son who will be 3 in December and he has barely been able to see them grow up because he is always deployed. That is the life we chose though, it's a hard job but someone has to do it. Just keep him and the other soldiers in your thoughts and prayers and hope for a safe return home.

I can't wait, only a few more days!!!!!! YYYEEEEAAAAHHH!!! WWWOOOO HHHOOOOO!!!:7 :) :) :) :D !!!

I'm so happy for you! How wonderful that he'll be home in time for the holidays:+ . You must have been sitting on pins and needles the entire time he's been gone. I appreciate his service to our country--and yours too. I sometimes think the sacrifices made by the women go unnoticed.
Take care and God bless you and your family.

Michele

I am so glad your dh is coming home. My Dh is in Iraq, only with the Polce. Enjoy every moment. The time from 2003 is a long time. We have had times that seemed ok but this time it is long. Be patient and make sure your children enjoy their dad as much as possible. My grandchildren ask to see their grandfather and talk to him. We do have a lot more than we have had in the past through networking, Broadband phone service etc.. I would like for my kindegarten grandchildren to realize that there are children there as well, and that they can communicate with some of them. This is a new goal for me to have them comunicate with children from another country. We pull out the globe so they can see where their Papa is and where we are. I am looking forward to seeing my dh sometime in the spring time. This is something that seems like it takes a long time and is hard waiting for. Our anniversary is in March. We will be married 35 years. Enjoy your time together. When you choose this life it can be very hard at times. Especially with young children.

Thank you everyone for all the encouraging words. It really means a lot to me. The last few years have been really hard with him being away all the time but I actually think it helped our marriage because the times we are together are even better. Couples that see each other every day tend to get in a rut and take each other for granted, but we have learned to treasure every moment we have together. Also, we have become so close by e-mailing and talking on the phone. It's better when your spouse is your best friend because I know couples who can go days at a time not even speaking and don't even realize it.

Again, I thank everyone for your words. I have only been doing Cathe's workouts for a few months and I wish I would have know about her workouts and this forum long ago. I see how all the women on here are like a family and give so much encouragement to each other. This deployment would have gone a lot smoother if I would have know about this website because I would have had people to talk to when the days were just dragging. I don't have any friends where I am and my family lives hundreds of miles away so it gets kind of lonely. But the past few weeks since finding this forum has been great hearing about everyone's lives and accomplishments. Keep striving for the best and keep doing those TOUGH workouts. And a special thanks to Cathe for making my mornings more enjoyable and giving me something to look forward to for the next day.

OH and about knowing what to do when my husband comes home, lets just say I know I have been out of practice but it's like riding a bike, once you get back on, you know how to ride it again!!!! OOhh, did I just say that!!!:+

Thanks,

Toni

Your joy & relief is apparent & well-earned. Thank your husband for us. The troops, their families, & their communities are in my thoughts.

The Bush administration has much to answer for. I won't say more.
