How wide are your thighs?

Debbie, you are so right. It's all about the build. Short, tighter and more dense versus longer and leaner.

At the risk of sounding a bit snotty, my thighs are dense & muscular. They are the last place I gain weight and the easiest for me to see muscular striations if I so desired. So, that being said... my middle is the easiest place for my gaining the pudge.

So what exactly is the measuring game supposed to illustrate again?

Okay, not trying to sound b*tchy here, just putting in my own .02.

Marla;-)

I am overweight, and mine are about 21 inches. I know that they are 19 inches when I am at my correct weight. I am on the short side at 5'2" tall.

I'll make you all feel so good about the size of your thighs!!!

Mine are 23 3/4. There, I said it. I'm 5'8" and wear a size 10.

I'm just built that way. They were 23 inches in high school and I had a 24 inch waist and was really pretty thin.

That's what I like about you, Marla. No BS.;-) The way I see it, as long as these thighs fit into those skinny jeans, it doesn't matter if they measure 1/8 of an inch bigger or smaller. And yes, it's all about the build. Not only am I unfortunately short, I'm also pear-shaped, and would definitely not look good with bulky thighs.

LauraMax - I'd like YOUR thighs. They might be small but they leg press almost 300 lbs. Can't beat that.

I actually hate when we do this comparison thing. I wear a 6-8 pant size and according to my tape measure my thighs at the highest part are 23. I don't know why I felt the need to measure them because now I feel like I am bigger than everyone else. Oh well, a lesson for me not to get competitive and number conscious.

nobody should feel bad about how they were built. i am 21 inches and while might not like that i don't care. my concern is tighten up and show some definition, not to lose anything. that doesn't matter to me either way. i just don't wanna be jiggling while i am kickin'

Well my thighs are really very solid and not at all jiggly. As, history goes, they have always been that way. When I do more heavy lifting they don't feel good in my jeans and my legs are hard to cross. With freestyle type training they actually got a tad smaller.

The most comfortable size thighs for me to have is this: to be able to comfortably wear my Victoria Secret size 6 petite jeans from 1999. I don't wear these much because my DD calls them 'Mother jeans' because they fit AT the waist and are very slim down through the ankle. How ever they do fit me well and I keep them in my closet as a guide.

I did threaten to wear them on T-day to keep myself in check, but DD said oh not the "MOTHER JEANS!!" So, I took them off. LOL

Definitely, no one should feel bad. And it is amazing at the sizes some people can wear, including myself. Get this, I'm only 5' tall and my thighs are 22 inches at the widest part, and I wear 4 in most jeans. To me, I should be wearing a bigger size. But I also know that it depends on the way we are built as well as the hip size. I think my legs are actually long for my height, if that is possible. Right now they do not look very long because I need to lose some weight, but when I was leaner, my legs looked really long.

Okay, this has been a really GOOD thread for me today. I'm on the high side of 23" right now, 5'2", 135 currently (after gaining about 7-8 pounds this term!).

But this has been good for me because NONE of my pants have really been fitting (especially the jeans I squeezed into today, LOL), and this thread got me starting wondering why. The jeans fit fine in the waist, where I usually see it first. So why the legs?

I've noticed my thighs seem really firm (lol, at least in pants, heaven forbid bare!) lately, and I figured it was Cathe. I'm still sure on that, but I've been lifting heavier in the past few months and I kind of cut out running from the past 6-8 months.

Now that I'm thinking more about it, I think I just have an even better motivation to get running back at the top of my list!!

I can't imagine a thigh measurement that started with a "1". My mom used to call me Thunder Thighs when I was little, so it feels a little predetermined... (okay, to be fair to her, whenever I gripe about her calling me that, she insists it was because I would run down the hall and the entire house would shake, which meant to her that I was loud as thunder, but sounds to me like I was somehow big enough at age 6 to shake an entire house, wtf?)

So what you are saying is: Don't worry about your HUGE 22's.

(I always thouht that below the 20's at the widest part was an unhealthy goal. After all I don't want sticks for legs.)

O.k., interesting replies. I have been squatting very heavy so I think my thighs are just really bulking up now. Trust me, I am not throwing down donuts. LOL! I like the way they look though, but if my thighs get much bigger, I will have a problem fitting into jeans more then ever.

I like the way my 21" thighs look. I am short and wear a size 4 pant. I think strong, muscular legs are attractive...but that's just me.

As a matter of fact, I'm not ashamed of any of my measurements. I am 5'0" and weight 123 on a good day (last time I checked) but to look at me, I am very lean. I don't consider myself overweight anymore!

I always liked high waisted pants....they accentuate a small waiste and at least when you bend down your hiney doesn't stick out:p . I have a quite few "mother pants" in storage.... I'm hoping in 15 years they will come back in style as everything else does. I've been the same size since I was about 12 years old....hopefully, I'll be the same size 15 years from now give or take a little gravity and shifting ;) .

i am 5' the last time i weighed myself it was 145. can't be right but maybe it is. i don't look overweight, nor do i feel overweight. must be muscle }( . ijust have a thick lower body, always have and i am sure i always will. so i just heavy weights to build upper body and endurance with moderate weight for lower and it seems to be working. now to work on this mush in the middle LOL.
