I workout in my living room! I do not have to move furniture, but I do have to move all my dumbells and barbell into the living room! Our house is for sale and you can bet, the next one will have a room dedicated to working out!
We had a very small area next to the furnace in the deep dark dungeon of the basement that wasn't finished and a few weeks ago DH and I finished it into my workout area. We put down Home Depot mats, put the TV, VCR and DVD up and laid out all my weights. Now I have no prep work (and no excuses ).
I used to work out in the middle of the family room and had to drag out all of my equipment every time I wanted to do a vid - not to mention my kids running in front of me all the time. It is soooo much nicer now!
I work out in my unfinished basement. No one bothers me down there. Except, I'm still having a problem keeping the dog busy. She especially enjoys knocking me over when I do yoga.

Try a Kong toy stuffed with peanut butter and dog kibble or some kind of lean meat. Even freeze it ahead of time...it should keep her busy for awhile.
Thanks Colleen, I'm going to try the peanut butter thing, and see if that works. I give her a rawhide chew and she just wants me to play tug of war with her. She's only 9mo. and does not want to be ignored. I love the picture of your Dobie. Mine is a Rhodesian Ridgeback.
I picked the first option -- I do have a workout area. However, I DO have to move some workout equipment depending on what type of workout I'm doing. LOL
