how heavy of dumbells

Hello everyone, Just wanted a estimation on what dumbells weights people are using on STS. I know everyone is different but just wanted to know how heavy of dumbells people are using. THanks, Lori

I run the gamut on what I need, even in Meso 2, I still use weights at low as 8 and go up to 35's. I add weighted gloves and wrist weight to add incremental weights when needed, and have a 10 pound and 40 pound weighted vest for leg work. I'd say the one that get the most use are the 12, 15, and 20's for upper body. Lower body is another story, the most used for leg workouts has been 25's and 30's, but I go much lower on anything that has paper plate slides. I also use a barbell, so far my highest chest press weight was 71 pounds.

5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25 and 30 pound dumbbells. I have Pace Weights that I use pretty much constantly. My barbell goes up to 85#. I don't think I use the 5# or 8# dumbbells for much except back off sets. The 10# dumbbells I think I just use for shoulder work. But mostly I use the 15# dumbbells on up to the 30#, and the barbell. I also have a vest that I've started using more now that I'm in Meso 2 and don't have a squat rack.

big range

My weights range from 5-pound (rarely used) to 40-pound dumbbells. I also have the weighted vest and pace weights. I have to use versa-grips to hold the heavier weights, because I have weak hands.

I go from 3-50# dumbbells (3-20# in neoprene dumbbells, and 5-50# with Epic adjustable dumbbells) plus a barbell that could easily go over 100#, but the most I've used has been 78# (that will go up).

I'm using 15's for chest and back; 5-10 for shoulders and triceps; and 8-10 for biceps. For legs I'm using 14 for squats and deadlifts and 7 for lunges. That is just for the 65% 1 rep max becuase I'm still in Meso 1. I am using the pace weights and they are helping tremendously. I've never been able to do more than 12 pounds on a chest fly but using the pace weights I have gradually gotten up to the 15s.
I'm very weak but that is why I am doing STS!!!!

The heaviest I've used is 35 lbs (each) for dumbbells. My heaviest barbell weight (so far) is about 55 lbs, but that's with a 10 lb. weight vest. I'm only in the second week of Meso 2, so I think that will increase in Meso 3.

You should be able to calculate the weights you need by doing your 1RMs and then looking at the Workout Cards. It will tell you the weights you need.

Good luck!

Thank you ladies for sharing your lbs. in weights used. My heaviest dumbell is 30#. I'll see how that goes and I will probably purchase 35lb. dumbells. I also got cathe weighted vest, weighted gloves. Anyone know where you can purchase 35lb. dumbelll for a good price? Thanks again, Lori

I recently bought my 35's at Dick's sporting goods, I ended up buying the cheaper all iron version (the rest of my set is the rubber/neoprene kind). They were about $31 each. So far, I've used only one of them for plie squats, but have not worked up to using them both yet. I prefer to wear the vest and hold the 30's, but I'll need to suck it up soon and use the 35's to continue to increase my forearm strength.
