How bizarre is this? Replacement DVDs

freeze up - oh just a slight pause and then keep going. But my originals played fine. Isn't that odd when you at SNM and Sony worked so hard to make that not happen? I've had it on BMax2 and DM so far. Nothing on LIC and haven't done the replacement B&G yet. I don't think it's really a big deal because it does keep going, but I found it strange that my first set was fine and this has a glitch.

Lorrie, are these glitches the layer breaks that Chris was talking about? (It was a message concerning the replacement DVDs that we got via email)I am too lazy to find the thread but he said "you will see a brief pause and stutter at the layer break if you don't have a seamless DVD player". Three of the DVD's they were unable to hide the layer break.
"Layer Changes on the new DVDs"
Cardio Fusion the layer break is at the start of the drills.
Butts and Guts is at the start of the Abs
LIC is at the start of cardio 3
Drill Max is at the start of the Firewalkers
Body Max 2 is between the end of step combo 5 and the start of Step blast 4.
(paraphrasing the quote)

edited for spelling

The freeze you're seeing is just the layer change point. We listed these points in our email we sent out a few weeks ago.In Body Max 2 the layer change point is at the begining of Blast #4 and during Drill Max the layer change point is at the begining of Firewalkers. The layer change point for the other 3 DVD's is during a fade to black transition and in most cases will not be noticeable.

Mine is freezing all through Body Max 2 and LIC, in the middle of the workout. Sometimes it is for a split second and sometimes for about 3 or 4 seconds and is VERY noticeable! So far those are the only two I have done. Any suggestions?

Uh oh, are those the replacement DVDs? I'm about to order the set thinking all the replacement DVDs work fine. Please advice before I order.

You want to first make sure that you did not mix up the replacement DVDs with the old ones. If this is not the case then you should try testing on another DVD player. You should also make sure the disc are clear of any finger prints. If you have further problems you will need to contact customer service.

A majority of DVD players sold nowadays are seamless or at least claim to be. A true seamless player can play a dual layered disc without any noticeable "freezing". In your case you have a seamless player and thus don't see any freezing. Please keep in mind that the definition of seamless seems to vary from “no freeze” to just “a little freeze” depending on the manufactuer. The only way to know if a player is truly seamless is to test it out.

But here are the layer change points listed below for everyone again:

Layer Changes on The New DVD’s

So nobody panics when they receive their replacement DVD’s we thought it would be a good idea to list where the layer breaks are. You will see a brief pause and stutter at the layer break if you don’t have a seamless DVD player. On three of the DVD’s we were able to hide the layer break in a fade to black transition, so you will probably not see it at all. On 2 of the DVD’s it was not possible to put the layer break during a fade to black transition and the layer break will be noticeable if you don’t have a seamless player. All dual layered disc have layer change points. These are not defects and are perfectly normal.

Cardio Fusion – Layer Break is at the start of the Drills during a fade to black transition.
Butts & Guts – Layer Break is at the start of the Abs during a fade to black transition
Low Impact Circuit - – Layer Break is at the start Cardio #3 during a fade to black transition.
Drill max – Layer Break is at the start of the start of Firewalkers. Cathe is marching in place.
Body Max 2 – Layer Break is in between the end of step combo#4 and the start of Step blast #4.

I also have the Sony 5-disc changer, which I got when I received the first set of DVDs. They all played fine - that's why I found this pause/stutter to be very ironic in these relacement discs. As I said, my LIC was fine and sailed right through. The BMax2 and DM were just momentary, and I haven't done the replacement B&G yet. I didn't find these stutters to be at all problematic - I simply didn't expect them after my originals played without them. I feel rather bad that it even happened because I know what a hassle it's been for everyone involved to get this corrected.

I received my replacement DVD's today and I have had no problems with them. The originals played fine on my cheap Radio Shack player and had problems on my Pioneer.

I'm happy - Thanks SNM!!

I haven't received my replacement DVDs yet, but I bought a Sony DVD/VCR today (SLV-D271P) and I tested it with segment #4 of Drill Max and it played perfectly. I was really impressed. My older player a Zenith DVD/VCR (XBV 443) freezes for about a second, skips about 2 seconds in that segment, and then keeps on playing normally. If I play Drill Max on my computer that's another story and for that reason only I'm waiting for the replacements because sometimes I take my workouts when I travel and I want them to play as well as all my other Cathe workouts.

Lorrie,
I just now tried my replacement LIC and it freezes during the first blast at 19:56. It freezes for about 4 -5 seconds. this is frustrating as my first set of dvds had absolutely NO problems.x( Not one of my original dvds froze.
and yes, I am sure it is not the old dvd that is freezing b/c i had done LIC a number of times before my replacements came with no freezing problem whatsoever.
it can't be the "layering" points because it's not at the location snm says.

My replacement DVDs still freeze, in fact, I think worse than the originals.

My Drill Max and Body Max Scrambled Eggs both freeze.

I've only tried one replacement so far - BMax 2 - and it freezes in the 4th power circuit for several seconds while Cathe is in the middle of a move.

Wow I saw the stutter today at the end of combo #4 and beginning of blast #4 on BM2. I didn't see any stuttering at all with my RCA DVD player and the old DVD's. With my new Sony 5-disc changer and the new DVD's I saw the stutter. Interesting... it was only a minor, very minor, interruption, didn't interfere at all with the workout. Just thought this was interesting.
