How are you using the Gym Styles from hardcore?

So far the only one I'm using is the Gym Style legs and just the floor work.

Anyone mixing and matching from the other two to make a quick upper body workout? I'm thinking of trying that and choosing exercises that are different than Muscle Max.

Do you think that would work?

I love te GS, I use them all, 1 to 2 body parts a day plus cardio. I put together the Classic P90X rotation using GS the emphasis
is upper body. You can find it under Rotations.

Thanks. One more question?

I want strength but not the "Muscley look" I like it but it's not for DH (LOL).

If I followed Kathryn's rotation choosing only 2 or 3 exercises per body part and using light to mod. weights, would that help me build strength but not build too much?

I Use all of Cathe's workouts except S&H and CTX and I have used all the Hardcore series except Gym Style and I want to figure out how to use them for my particular goal.

Thanks again.

I don't see how using light to moderate weights will help with strength?

The "muscley" look comes from a combination of factors: genetics, body fat %, nutrition (you have to feed muscle to make it grow by eating more calories), weight work, cardio (when one is actively building muscle, one usually decreases cardio or keeps it to a bare minimum, as in the P90X series).. I lift as heavy as I can, and I look nowhere near like Cathe (which is not a look I personally wany anyway). I'm much stronger than I look!

If you want to assure that you won't get too "muscley," first, realize that it won't happen overnight, and if you see yourself going in a direction you don't want to go in, you can change your program. Then, add some cardio after your weight work (which will burn some calories that otherwise can fuel your muscle growth). Also, eat sufficient calories, but don't increase calories, which can fuel muscle growth.

Thanks Kathryn.

I don't think I have the genetics to look like Cathe. Right now I'm just doing a combo Intensity/Body blast rotation. For my next Cathe rotation, I'm going to try your rotation and see what happens.

Thanks for the help.

I love GS!!!!! GS Legs is just awesome!!! I typically do just the standing portion, though...can't quite get to that floor portion coz my legs are crying too loudly. Someday someday.

I tend to just do the premix Supersets for the GS upper body workouts, because I'm usually too pressed for time to do the whole thing. But, on the weekends, I'll sometimes do the entire GS Chest & Tris DVD. I love love love them! They blow just about everything else away right now, IMO. I'm so glad I got these! I didn't think I'd like them as much as my Pyramids. In a way, I was right: I don't like them as much -- I like them much better!! :)

I love the gym style workouts and just started using them to really up my strength and see results. Mon chest/tri with cardio, wed back/shoul/bic with cardio and fri legs and cardio. I am looking forward to the next level. I just started doing sep sculpting instead of total body. Are there any other tapes that are as good for focusing on each bodypart? Slow &heavy or pure strength?\

I am a long time Cathe fan - Love her she is amazing and my reason for loving exercise! Usually I browse the forum instead of actually writing. All of you give great advice and motivate me when I feel a slump coming on!

Thanks
