High Step DVD?

Hi! I am not new to Cathe, but I would be new to High Step training. Which DVD would you start with, which are your favorites and why? Are they more cardio, or more weight training, or both? I am a 5'2" pear shape who is 30 weeks pregnant and looking for new challenges after the baby is here!

My favorite Cathe workouts are Imax2, all of the CTX series, and all of the Body Blast series.

Thanks in advance!! :)

Have a great day!

Nori,

One of my favorite Cathe DVD's is BootCamp and Muscle Endurance. I don't know if it's considered High Step Training, but it does use the high step. I like it because it has such a variety of exercises and the time seems to go really fast. I still do this one very often, and it really gives you a great workout.

I have that DVD and don't think I've ever done it! :) Looks like I'll have to pull that one out!

Thanks for the response, and have a great day!

well i don't know about your fitness level since you are pregnant. but i would start slowly. body blast might not be a bad one, just keep is low impact until your doctor says its okay. also IF you have it her high step circuit dvd. its all low impact using light weights and bands. i don't know much about the ctx series other then it might be good for those on a time crunch(and you will be) so that might be another to go with, just keep the cardio low impact.that is all i can think of. the muscle endurance suggestion is also a great workout using the high step.

I am an advanced exerciser, still doing Cathe's workouts throughout the pregnancy. Sometimes I have to modify, but for the most part I've stayed very active.

I was hoping people could recommend any High Step tapes for after baby is here though, I am looking for something different to add to my regular routines. Do you have any favorites?

Thanks!

Hi Nori,
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I had a baby five months ago and was able to workout with Cathe right up until two weeks before the baby. My favorite cardio was IMAX2 also. After having the baby (by c-section) I started out slowly with my exercises. Once I started to feel more up to it, I did a rotation with Slow and Heavy (every other day, alternating with cardio) to get my strength back up.
HSTA is my favorite workout! You will definitely benefit from this one. THe cardio is done with two risers and seem a little more challenging than HSC. The weights used are moderate to heavy. HSC is also great. There aren’t as many step-ups in it, but it does have abdominals at the end.

then i would go with high step training advanced OR high step challenge. high step training is more structured IMO. working cardio/legs/upper body part where as with high step challenge you do a few body parts in one segment. there is more cardio in high step training i feel anyway. there are also more premixes on HSTA then on HSC. HSTA uses the step in all the cardio where as HSC using the step in some segments and high impact floor work in others. HSTA has leg presses EVERY cycle{so 5 cycles of leg presses :) }i find HSTA more challenging but modifications are easily made(cedie shows a few). HSC is more basic exercises made easier or harder by how much resistance you use, she also uses the band in this workout.

High Step Challenge is really fun and innovative. As a rule, I am not that crazy about circuit workouts, but this one is fun and contains a lot of interesting exercises that use the band instead of weights. It's a really nice change and I always enjoy it. The music is great, too!

Good luck,
Marie

I like High Step Challenge a lot. I just find it really fun.
I'm not so wild about HSTA, maybe I'll have to pull it out again. The music's not as good and to me I find myself kind of bored with it. Where as HSC, I can't believe it's over at the end because it's just such fun.
