Whoa, I totally missed the boat on ordering this workout sooner. Hands down, my favorite workout from Cathe! Right up there with Muscle Max, which is another workout that is always in the rotation. Just wanted to give this a shout out for anyone that held off ordering this one. Awesome muscle burn with a huge fun factor! The music rocks too!.

I've been wondering if I need to get Muscle Max. That's one I don't have. Sounds as though you really like it. But, if I have High Reps, STS Total Body, STS, Gym Styles & Slow & Heavy, do I really need Muscle Max? TIA for your input!

If you like High Step Challenge, you'll like MM. It's similar to HSC but doesn't have cardio and uses heavier weights. These two workouts really compliment each other. For some reason, there is no boredom factor with this one.

Mini-natty,

The reps are high, like Muscle Endurance, but I didn't find the weight selection light. It is very similar to ME but for some reason HR gives a better muscle burn. I guess the biggest surprise is I didn't see rave reviews when this first came out, so I didn't jump to order. Pleasantly this seems more like the older style workout format that made me a Cathe fan.

Your question on weight #'s, I grabbed mostly 12's and 15's and lightened up on the shoulder work. For the leg work I used a 20's and a 40lb barbell.

High Reps is my favorite weight workout by Cathe. MM is second. Love them both. Of course, I also like Muscle Endurance and Power Hour. . . But High Reps is my favorite.

Jane- I just want to add that I agree about Muscle Max ! It really is a GREAT workout. (I did that workout 2x every week for 3 YEARS before I got bored with it ! At that point I discovered cathe.com and for the last 3 or 4 years I've grown to love MANY more Cathe workouts too !) The 2 upper body premixes at 42 min and 33 min are great for days when you don't have enough time. The ab section is, I think, Cathe's best and very varied. She breaks the push-ups into two separate sets (unlike GS), and for me it makes them doable. The whole work-out moves at a good pace, and I always feel like there is no wasted time, but I'm not rushed. It has a great warm-up and stretch too. I still do MM several times a month. I love it !

I wanted to get my 2 cents in about MM, and I hope it helps. I have read so many helpful posts on this forum for years, and have never posted until now. Thank you, ladies for all your helpful information !!

High Reps is definitely one of my absolute favorites...I can do this one over and over and not dread it.

I love it in the beginning leg weight routine near the end when Cathe asks if we are saying, "when is this going to be over?" Just the intonation and way she says it is so timed right and because that is generally what I am saying right at that time and the way I am saying it!

for Jayne Royse: I also am a Muscle Max fan. It is very worth it. No boredom factor either. But then, I am a huge advocate of total body weight workouts by Cathe. As we age, we just need these and Cathe really is the best out there for these...and the more you have of this genre...the less likely to tire of them and quit!

I love High Reps too! I always find Cathe's comments in a workout are so perfectly timed. I notice this in STS too...it's like she's clairvoyant sometimes!

High Reps = High Fun Factor. :D

I've done the first 40 mins of the workout a few times, but today was the first time I did the entire DVD (minus the cooldown). The time flew by and it didn't even feel like I was working out, even though the sweat dripping down my face sure proved otherwise! I too love the music in this DVD and Cathe's little comments.

Here's my new top 3 total body workouts by Cathe:
1. High Reps
2. Muscle Max
3. Muscle Endurance
:):):)

Ok, I have to bring up this thread again because.......

The download is 30% off which makes it a great price. I don't have HR yet, but would like to add it to my collection. Is it really worth getting??? What makes this one different/special? I would love to get every Cathe w/o, but I have to pace myself and be selective.

Thanks!
Natasha

Hi Natasha,

I saw your post and was wondering if you decided to get CTX or 4DS or maybe neither? If you did get CTX or 4DS (or both), I was wondering what you think.

I am currently doing 4DS for the first time, this is the 2nd week, and it is seriously so much fun. I love High Intensity Step. Boot camp is pretty intense (I did that one today and it really kicked my butt). The weight work really works you and time really flies.

Just wondering what you think...

Susan

I got 4DS!!! Still waiting though............Canada Post is slow :(

I am sure I will love it!! I crave variety and this one seemed to shout my name. I am gonna do Bootcamp first since everyone says it's a killer.

Thanks for the recommendation Susan :)

If I could only have one Cathe full body weight workout, it would be High Reps. There is no dread factor, but she works you out completely. She prefatigues muscles and then finishes you off with more exercises. It's tough but fun. The music is good and Cathe seems like she's having fun. I really like it!

High Reps is awesome! My favorite part is the band work. I love the T's with the band, the rows with the band, bicep curls with a band..... ooooo! I don't know what it is about that skinny, green piece of plastic, but I love it when Cathe brings it out!! I also can't talk about this workout without mentioning the leg work with the sliding discs. Hard work, but definitely fun! Cathe makes all the hard stuff fun!! :D

I just did High Reps for the first time today and loved it!!! I have a feeling my body will be "talking" to me tomorrow . Totally exceeded my expectations! Bravo Cathe!

High Reps is one of my favorites also! I haven't done it in a while, and it doesn't appear to be included in the 3 month LIS/STS Transformation Rotation (which I just began this month), so I suppose I may do it as an add-on on a day that I have some extra workout time. :-D Get the video whenever you can, Natasha. You will love it, I'm sure. ;-)

Quite possibly PERFECT!

I could not agree more with this as THE new fav! Holy cow - I actually bought this workout a few months ago, but didn't do it because of JM Body Rev rotation. I wanted something different from JM today and pulled out High Reps. Honestly - I think this workout is quite possibly PERFECT. Seriously. I have tons of DVDs, but only a few that I feel are as flawless as this one. This workout felt completely SAFE (no joint issues/form issues), completely EFFECTIVE, and completely SATISFYING.

I read someone on another forum say that she does 10-days of the same video before moving to another video and has really good results with that. I've always mixed things up, but I'm re-thinking things. I'm going to concentrate heavily on this workout and Cycle Max for a few weeks - I think this could be body-changing for me as I want to lean out some more before heading into swimsuits!! Total LOVE!!!
