High Intensity Step on the new 4 day split review inside

The cardio is fun, and will be more fun as I actually learn it, lol. The 2nd combo was the easiest for me b/c we did those moves at the RT. The 3rd was the hardest, as she does lots of work from the front of the step and doesn't cue which foot to use. Those of you with small kids might not want to attempt this for the first time in front of them b/c of what is likely to fly out of your mouths. ;-)

The weight portion was good. It was chest & back and it's done in a push/pull pattern (those of you familiar with P90X will recognize this pattern from that series). It's done in "rounds" and round 1 is a warm up of supermans, warm up of 1 arm row with a 12lb db, then a heavier set (8 reps). Cathe uses a 30lber here, I decided to play it safe with a 25lber, but I'll probably try it heavier next time. Then she did a set of pushups (1 full, 2 partial as a pattern). Then you repeat the 1 arm rows, and more pushups (these are 8 full pushups, 8 low end pushups and 8 high end pushups).

Round 2 is barbell rows (she uses a 62lb barbell, I used 53). She does 7 reps twice. Then it's incline flys. Cathe grabs 2 25 lbers (I wimped out with 15 here Laughing ). 12 reps slow. Rinse and repeat for round 2.

Round 3 is one arm rows again, with an arm variation. Cathe uses a 20lber, and so did I. Good variation. 12 reps. Then onto MORE pushups, this time with your butt slightly in the air. No repeats.

Round 4 is Incline pullovers, which Cathe used 1 15lber. I used a 20 and could've gone heavier. It takes a lot of weight for me to really feel it with that move for some reason. 12 reps. After that is incline press, which Cathe used 2 30lbers. I used 2 25lbers which was plenty for me Very Happy 12 reps slow for this, too. No repeats.

Round 5 is T-band flys which are great Very Happy She used the green band, I jumped in with the purple and it was perfect. After that, it's clock pushups. This one takes quite a bit of space, so I ended up going side to side.

Conclusion: I burned 532 cals per my HRM, but it took 80 mins between the rewinding cardio and pausing to make notes between weight sets. It's good and I'm sure it'll flow better when I'm more used to it. I like this method of working out :D The blue outfits look really sharp on film and you can tell by the different camera angles she went with a new producer (even if you had not previously known that). The sound quality is great and I didn't notice any breaks or layer changes. I'm ready for more tomorrow!!

Thanks for the review Carol! These sound great! I actually bought a pair or 30# dumbbells and more plates for my barbell in anticipation of these workouts. Bring it on!

Thanks for the great review Carol! This one sounds great and will probably turn out to be my favorite. I'm glad she doesn't have as much breakdown and I really like it that it's push/pull like P90X. Sounds like she went real heavy. How was the music?
