Hey True Blood fans!

jen, there are a lot more racy "scenes" in the sookie series, unlike twilight. needless to say my bf loves when im reading these, lol!

there better be some weres in this season of true blood!

What!!! Chris you are killing me, . . are you saying he never really lost his memory???? Still on book 7, . . .awe common, . . I read fast but not that fast.

oh he does, but he gets it back....oh boy does he....the reason sookie finds him in the road so close to her house is an interesting one that is revealed in the latest book ...Eric's backstory is also presented in the last book - supposedly that will be shown this season - I wonder if it will be the same...in any case, no doubt Eric is completely in love with Sookie. Don't know how people still care for Bill - especially after the trunk/rape thing...

Did anyone see the interview with the actor who plays Lafayette? not sure if the eric/sookie thing will play out because apparently Ball wants to go in a Lafayette/Eric thing direction....oddly enough Alex Skarsgard's interviews seem to point towards the book direction of Eric/Sookie thing, so I am utterly confused...maybe that is the point of their interviews, to utterly confuse the book followers :)

will have to recruit my swede friends to watch episode 5 - apparently there are entire scenes in swedish as a throwback to Eric's viking past...

Ooooh, I love when I can convince my husband that a purchase for me will actually benefit him ;)

Me, too! And, my DH is named "Bill" so he really loves when I read True Blood instead of Twilight. My personal vampire! ha ha

Kathryn welcome to our little "blood thirsty" thread!!!:D:D:D

Why don't you read the books in the meantime? ;)

I just ordered volumes 1-4, but because I can't justify to myself reading English novels just for fun, I ordered the French versions (which aren't out yet, but are coming soon).

Kathryn, . .you'll want to read the rest trust me. I'm on number 8 now. I bought the 1-7 box set off of amazon a week ago and I can't stop reading them.

Yeah I hear ya here but I still have a sorta love hate thing with Bill. I don't necessarily want him to end up with Sookie but the love triangle between the three is certainly exciting. I'm almost done with book 8. I thought for sure that Eric would end up King. Now I can't wait to read 9. I really want to know more about Eric. Love Eric, . . wish he would stop calling Sookie lover though. To cheesy for me.

Vampire Enablers!

Okay, not that it took much to convince me, since I have always loved the whole vampire, gothic fictional world, but last time all of you were talking about vampire books, I picked up the first of the Laurell K Hamilton books...and of course I have now read all 17 of the Anita Blake series. :D

So I guess its time to enter the Charlaine Harris vampire world as well (although, I am less ambitious then Kathryn and will stick to the English versions :)) ...I get the sneaking feeling that I will be reading non-stop until I get through all of these as well. ;) How many books am I going to be tackling this go around? lol

btw... I agree on the Bella annoyance factor, many times I thought it would be a fun plot twist for Edward to "accidentally" drop her while playing in the treetops.

Okay, off to practice my necromancer skills now.... :p

Mary

Mary, you can either read just the 9 books, or... you can be a Sookie-addict and read the short stories, too!!!

Here's the reading sequence:

1. Dead Until Dark (book) - Season 1 of True Blood
2. Living Dead In Dallas (book) - more or less Season 2 of True Blood
3. Club Dead (book)
4. Dead To The World (book)
4.1 Fairy Dust (short story)
4.2 Night's Edge - Dancers In The Dark (short story)
4.3 One Word Answer (short story)
5. Dead As A Doornail (book)
6. Definitely Dead (book)
6.1 My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding (short story)
7. All Together Dead
7.1 Dracula Night - Many Bloody Returns (short story)
8. From Dead To Worse (book)
9. Dead And Gone (book)

Chris.

Thanks Chris! Looks like the month of July is set for reading :D

Melissa,

The short stories sometimes don't even feature Sookie, but take place in the Sookie-verse, as it were. They are not necessary for understanding or following the books, but who wouldn't want more Charlaine?! I forget which book is the one where Sookie meets Quinn and goes to New Orleans after her cousin Hadley's death, but one of the short stories before has the story of Hadley in it.

By the way, if you all are really enjoying Charlaine Harris, you have to read one of her other series, featuring Harper Connelly:
1. Grave Sight
2. Grave Surprise
3. An Ice Cold Grave
4. Grave Secret (coming this October)

Harper Connelly was struck by lightening as a teenager and develops the ability to locate dead bodies and experience their last few moments, allowing her to solve murders, missing persons cases, etc. She's got a troubled background, romance troubles, and is constantly getting in trouble for her abilities. Great reads.

Oh no Kelly, . . . now I'm going to have to buy more books. I've been sorta out of it for the past week, . . reading all these Sookie Stackhouse books. I'm now on book 9 and since I know that there is no 10 yet I'm reading slower to savor it. I'll be so sad and anxious waiting for the next.
